Damn, but that's a tough one, it's like asking what your favourite meal is, so I'll have to cheat and do categories.

For classics, it would be a close choice between 'Citizen Cane' and 'Casablanca'.

I like a lot of 'cult' films, and in that genre I'd have to say 'Performance'

For comedy 'Withnail and I'

For epics (with apologies to Cecil B. DeMille)...'Gandhi'

 

Rocky 4 for me...true 80's hard music and montages...the training scene is real, tahts what makes it a "movie"

That's another one where I felt the book was better, but a good film nonetheless.

 

You know, in the book, Truman Capote made it pretty clear that Holly Golightly was a prostitute, but the movie kind of danced around that. Despite that, Audrey Hepburn was just plain stunning in the movie.

Blazing Saddles by Mel Brooks. The best movie of all time followed by any of the Blade movies.

 

Kimiko, are you telling me Truman Capote wrote Breakfast at Tiffanies. I was aware of the movie, really liked it and all that, but Capote wrote it. You're kidding me.

Gattaca is a pretty perfect movie, in my opinion.

 

As of this moment I can hear the Wizard of Oz playing in the other room. It may be a classic but my mother sat me down to watch it on TV when I was about five years old and I had nightmares for six months.

Yes Nympho and could not believe how close it matched. But I still don't know what if was intentional or not.

But speaking of Pink Floyd, I'd heard of The Wall and was vaguely aware that the younger generations watched it, often under the influence of LSD. Then just a few years ago since I'd never seen it some younger friends sat me down and played it for me. I could not believe the later generations survived that or society survived afterwards.

 

Cinderella Man

Just a great movie about boxing during the Great Depression. I love boxing and I love history so it was a double whammy for me.

 

I have a real problem with Russel Crowe.

Edit: Opie is okay with me, though.

 

The Fugitive - the relatively recent re-make with Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones. Great acting!

 

The original "Lion in Winter" starring Peter O'tool, Anthony Hopkins an Katherine Hepburn.
1973 I think. Best movie ever IMO. Acting dialogue story. Everything 10/10
