We've all heard that old adage but my question is do you believe it?

Has anyone known someone who was once a cheater but changed their ways after they met 'the one'? Or has anyone been unfaithful themselves and then changed?

I'd like opinions from the guys and gals on this one.

Seriously, there aren't too many people who HAVEN'T cheated at one time or another in their lives. I do believe people can change, and mostly they change because they begin to place more value on a long-term, stable relationship, and it isn't worth it for them to risk that. Either that, or they don't have the energy for it as they get older.

 

I think everyone makes mistakes...but only few people learn from their mistakes.

 

Once a cheater, always a cheater, absolutely. I don't have time to be lied to.

 

I'm bad, but I don't cheat. When I am cut loose I go back to being bad. I, after high school, traveled in a rapid succession from Rubgy, to a Fraternity, to US Army Cavalry, then US Army Infantry. Over the last 15 years the only times I was good, was in serious relationships.

The other side to this coin is that cheaters will always accuse you of cheating first. My Ex accused me of cheating (which I didn't), though the pictures and inconsistent lies told me she beat me to the punch not once, not twice, but three times, (that I know of) while we were married, and I was home watching the kiddos and she was out with 'friends'.

 

Agreed!

Rare indeed is the person who learns from their own mistakes. . . It requires they disregard their own ego to learn the lesson, and the cheaters cheat because they want to stroke their own egos and feel smarter, sexier and cooler then who they are with.

Of course, all that is in my never humble opinion.

 

Energy and motivation...so these things will wane?

 

This is a first, a post from Kimiko that I disagree with! If a lady is attractive and aged between 18 and 80, it is ALWAYS worth the risk!! I've never found energy levels to be a problem. :excited::excited:

 

once a cheater always a cheater...its a caracter flaw... no changing it.

 

I can't say one way or the other, I don't know anyone who as reformed, but I don't know everyone.

 

I used to cheat at cards but I dont anymore. I found I was only cheating myself!

 

I've cheated once, a few weeks ago. I'd do it again with the same lady in a second if I get the chance. She doesn't live close enough to become a regular thing unless I leave home then it wouldn't be cheating any more. I'm not looking for someone else to cheat with.

 

I tried to find the answer to this on-line and write on my hand for the test....but I couldn't find it.

 

I think it kind of depends. A cheater who sleeps around with LOTS of people will always have the itch to cheat. If a cheater developed some emotional attachment to one person and only cheated on their significant other with that one person, I have a feeling it may be a one time thing and won't happen over and over again with different people.

 

There have been studies that looked at this... and the results were...... drumroll please.... A history of "cheating" does NOT predict future behavior. The only real predictor of whether or not someone , man or woman, will cheat is opportunity.

On a different thread, a year or two ago, I made a bet that I could walk up to any married man in any hotel bar in any city, and within thirty minutes convince him to go up to my room with me. I still think it's true. I just hope nobody tries it on my husband.
