They wouldn't want me...they would stamp reject on my forhead, and give me back.

 

Okay, I guess I should have given more information about my father-in-law donating his body. His body will go to a medical school. Future doctors do work on cadavers. When they are finished with his body, we'll have him cremated. They don't keep the bodies or put them on display.

 

My boyfriend says that he will do that, and I don't see why I wouldn't either. what use will I be dead to anything else? I'm already registered as an organ doner, they might as well use/take whatever else they want.

I find it odd when people are against relatives being doners (its my kidney and I'll do what I want with it!) because I've read in a lot of news stories of bereaved families being comforted knowing the person they lost saved somebodies life. Most recently an organ reciever getting married invited the mother of the doner to his wedding and she was saying how, while nothing would take away the horror of losing a child, she was comforted knowing her daughter would have been pleased to help someone.

My ex had a double lung transplant 8 years ago. He went from being unable to sleep lying down or moving at all, to running marathons. I’m an organ donor too.

 

All my organs are on the donation list even though I'm diabetic, the only thing they can't use is my Pancreas. I did want to donate my body to research, but my husband is against it. I told him it would save him funeral costs!

 

You can either be a orgaan donor, or donate your body to a medical school.
But you can't do both. Medical schools want The whole body. My dad did some research on this. I don't know which school he talked to just that it was here in Texas.
He's a registered organ donor.
I suggest you talk it over with your doctor and family.

Being an organ donor (registered) is good and donating blood is good, but don't forget the marrow registry.

 

I used to give blood regularly but I have deep veins and just having a blood test done is a game of hide and seek looking for them, and when I was giving blood it would just stop running and got to the point where I just couldn't give enough and I was getting upset that I couldn't give

 

I’ve got a rare type of blood and gave regularly; it was something my mother taught me. I used to occasionally get called to come in or pulled out of lines to give because they were waiting for someone of my type to donate.

Then somewhere along the line my blood tested false-positive for hepatitis. Apparently that can happen? Anyway, after being screened on three separate occasions to ensure I didn’t, in fact, have hepatitis, including my original donation being re-screened, my profile is flagged and I can’t give any more.

It’s really upsetting, not being able to donate. I was raised to consider donation as much my civic duty as to vote. I’ve corresponded with the new blood services corporation and they won’t change their mind.

It’s a rule, and I get it, but it really bugs me that I can’t help.

 

Recently a young boy was killed by a DUI driver. His family donated his organs as to wishes. He told them that's what he would do when he got older. He only reached the age of 10 years.

I have been on the organ donor list through the DMV for years. It's on my license.
