2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

    Best regards,

THANKS for this (first page) set of pictures. I am indeed one of the paralyzed writers on this site. It sucks to be a hunt & peck writer. I wish I had a pussy to suck like the guy in your pictures...

    To thecaptian

I have a very sincere question for you and anyone else who wants to comment.

Do you have chronic pain? Because it looks to me from the outside there's no way you couldn't.

In my case a work related accident paralyzed the muscles in the back of my left shoulder. But it hardly shows. The only thing it affected was my external rotation and difficulty lifting my arm in a couple directions. I learned to compensate for those however and even went back to work in the oilfield.

But the day of the accident in 1995 was my last day without pain and it never really goes away except for a few minuets after taking sweat baths or while having sex.

Do you also experience chronic pain?

I have chronic pain in my legs. Doctors have tried all kinds of meds and treatments without success.

Is it like phantom pain or do you have feeling in your legs. Again I'm sincerely curious. Because one of the most scary cases of pain I witnessed was a roughneck buddy of mine who had his foot mangled so bad he eventually just had it amputated. I knew him well and had seen him in pain before but nothing like the pain in his foot after it was amputated. He could not even function, could not understand it, was just short of suicidal, and they could do nothing about it. That scared the shit right out of me.

I have no feelings in my legs; yet my pain is not phantom. It is called Central Pain...NO CURE...It disrupts my life and hurts like Hell at times.

Somehow I just knew that was the case and to be honest is something that keeps me from feeling sorry for myself especially when I see people in wheelchairs. I just perhaps instinctively knew that's got to hurt like hell and there's no real relief for it. Nothing you can do about it.

Mine is just the result of simple gravity with the muscles in the back of my shoulder gone my other muscles in my neck, back, and even all the way across my back try to hold my arm and shoulder up and help with motion. And that makes them sore and go into spasms. It helps when I first lay down at night but I'm only good for about four hours of sleep before the pain from the trauma to my shoulder wakes me up again. Which is actually a good thing because if I sleep all night by the time I wake up in the morning my shoulder is on fire because I didn't keep changing positions. But at least I an get up and move around, or change beds, or do things to take my mind off the pain up to and including different kinds of pain medication.

That's got to be a cake walk compared to what you live with because even I know pain can just flat wear you out both physically and mentally.

    I'm lucky.

When I was in eighth grade, I fell in gym class playing basketball. Someone stepped on the top of my foot as I was turning to run and I went down hard. The asshole gym teacher was mad at me because I didn't get up. At first, I couldn't because I couldn't feel my legs. After about a minute, I was able to hobble away with him telling me I would fail for faking an injury.

X-rays revealed a number of hairline fractures in my coccyx (tailbone). After taking it easy for a couple weeks I was fine until I was about fifty.

That's when the sciatic nerve pain started. At first, it felt like a severe cramp in my calf muscle, but the muscle was flaccid. Walking made it go away. After a while, it became chronic. Everyone knows what a severe muscle cramp feels like. That's what I felt 24/7. Cortizone shots and physical therapy helped for a while, but I finally had surgery on two bulging discs. Six weeks later, more surgery, because swelling and not removing enough material made the pain come back worse than it was. I did consider suicide at that time.

When the pain came back about a year later, the films showed large scar tissue deposits pinching the nerve. The solution was to implant an electronic neuro-stimulator. This video is not at all graphic, unless you consider something like an injection to be graphic.

What is shown in the clip is the procedure to implant a temporary unit. I had one for a three-day trial -- local anesthetic, two stitches, and a wire coming out of my back. I wore a unit on my hip with a cable fed through my clothes to a connector taped to my ass.

After a successful trial, I had general anesthesia resulting in a three-corner incision for a skin flap (top of my right ass-cheek if you must know) that holds the bulk of the unit. They scraped away subcutaneous fat and stuffed it in there -- battery and microcomputer that I can control and charge with a small paddle I hold on the scar. I'm not a big guy, so the bulge of the unit (similar to four military dog tags in a stack) is visible though tighter clothes and easy to feel. It CAN be a conversation-starter. The unit is connected to a cable rammed through the fat layer to reach an electrode pack attached to the spinal cord. That scar is in that hard to wash place on the spine. The cable (approximately 5 mm thick) is visible as a curved bulge leading from the center of my back to my butt. A tattoo artist would faint.

These things work. I found out the hard way that components can break. A fall down my icy steps cracked the insulation on the cable under my skin, and eventually it shorted out. When I lost signal, it felt something like having four guys hit my right leg with sledgehammers at exactly the same time.

My replacement units works more-or-less seamlessly. Often, I go weeks without changing a setting. Yes, I set off metal detectors. Yes, my back looks like I was too slow running from a sword fight, with nine surgical scars. And yes, I'll have to have at least the battery pack replaced in another six to eight years.

It's better than being forced to get out of the car and walk to try to relieve the pain every two miles. Better than heavy drugs that made me a zombie but didn't kill the pain. Way better than eating all your meals standing up and having to stand or pace through an evening-long sporting event. Worlds better than spending your night in twenty minute naps interrupted by pacing the length of the house dozens of times.

Obviously, no solution works for everyone's problem. But if you or someone you know deals with chronic lower back or sciatic nerve pain, research it and get to a doctor. Here's a good place to start, since this company makes the devices: http://www.medtronic.com/.
