The Washington Post November 6, 2017

Voters say they prefer Democratic candidates for the House of Representatives over Republicans by the widest margin in over a decade, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll — a fresh sign of trouble for the GOP majority one year before the midterm elections...

A slim 51 percent majority of registered voters say that if the election were held today, they would vote for or lean toward the Democratic candidate in their congressional district, while 40 percent say they would choose the Republican.

That’s the biggest spread in a Post-ABC survey since October 2006, just weeks before a midterm in which Democrats won back control of the House and Senate amid deep dissatisfaction with then-President George W. Bush and the Iraq War.

    --------

    Aol November 6, 2017

A Washington Post/ABC News poll conducted from October 29 to November 1 has found that a historically low number of Americans approve of the job President Trump is doing.

“Trump has an approval rating demonstrably lower than any previous chief executive at this point in his presidency over seven decades of polling,” according to the Washington Post. “Fewer than 4 in 10 Americans — 37 percent — say they approve of the way he is handling his job."

    --------

A lot can happen between now and the next election a year from now, including a nuclear war with North Korea, killing millions of people.

If the Democrats win majorities in both houses of Congress in 2018, like they did in 2006, and if they keep their majorities, and win the White House in 2020, like they did in 2008, I hope the next Democrat president does not make major mistakes the way Obama did.

I voted for Obama in 2008 and 2012. I would have voted for him in 2016 against any Republican primary candidate that year. Nevertheless, I am disappointed with him.

Bernie Sanders would beat him easily if the election was held today. Sanders might beat him in 2020, although he might be too old to govern well. Another democratic socialist would give Trump a good contest, but I cannot think of who that might be. Keep in mind until recently, few people had heard of Bernie Sanders.

Sanders has obvious negatives. He spent his honeymoon in Moscow. He has an illegitimate child someplace. Nevertheless, he is still the most popular American politician.

A Southern white who attends church regularly, who is from the South, who went to West Point, who is content with his wife, in other words, Bill Clinton with a military record and without the womanizing, could sweep the 2020 election for the Democrats.

The New York Times November 5, 2017

The campaign for Virginia governor has divided voters along demographic lines highly reminiscent of last November’s presidential election, according to a New York Times Upshot/Siena College poll on Sunday, and the Democrat, Ralph Northam, holds a modest three-point lead over the Republican, Ed Gillespie, 43 percent to 40 percent..

White voters without a college degree backed Mr. Gillespie by a 40-point margin in the poll, 63 percent to 23 percent, while nonwhite voters backed Mr. Northam by a similar margin, 65 to 17. Mr. Northam holds roughly a 10-point lead among college-educated white voters, enough to give him the edge statewide.

Our genius who knows more about the Electoral College than the Dems do....

Our mastermind who managed to keep Hillary from campaigning in key battleground states.

Joe, you know that you are not supposed to post things like that.
All polls said Hillary by a landslide. The problems were that they were polling each other.
They didn't count the people. They all knew the people were supposed to do exactly what they told them to do.
They polled each other to see.

Yeppers, I suspect DL was sporting a tiny little ''red rocket'' when he stumbled upon that poll.

Today, in the real world....there's no indication the the leftists have the upper hand in gaining control of either the House or the Senate in '18.

Schumer, the Senate minority leader, is as far out there as Pelosi is as the House minority leader, simply put, they still dont a have a clear concise message to relay to the people.

Ed Gillespie is showing Virginia Republicans how to win again.

While the focus of the nation has remained on national politics and the White House, Gillespie has deftly crisscrossed the state talking about his many in-depth policy proposals that vary widely from cutting the state income tax rate to pushing for affordable flood insurance. Gillespie has spent much time in often overlooked parts of Virginia and still been able to appeal to voters in deep blue northern Virginia by talking about curbing violent gang crime, and hitting Northam on McAuliffe’s mishandled attempt to restore voting rights to tens of thousands of felons.

Whether Gillespie wins or loses, the race was never supposed to be this competitive. Gillespie’s campaign has shown Virginia Republicans the way to remain in contention.

The final stretch of the election has shown Gillespie surging in the polls to a near tie with Northam. If Gillespie is able to pull off an upset it will be a signal that Republicans can still win in Virginia even when the odds are stacked against them, provided they have the right candidate with the right message.

Virginia was traditionally a red state until a few years ago. I don't know why you think this would be an upset. Virginia was home to the capital of the Confederacy. What happened to all that southern pride?

And if he loses, he still shows how to win. How quaint

DistantRacist is like that dimwit that no matter how many times you prove him wrong, he keeps posting nonsensical polls from worthless "sources" in a poor attempt to stump the trump!

It ain't gonna happen, bruh! If anything GOP establishment shills are gonna be replaced by 'tea party' and 'freedom caucus' conservatives! Toss in the towel and give up!

No. Lefties might get victories in the typical states like New York, California, Maryland and Oregon.....because the people there are doped up with welfare money.
But for the middle of the country its gonna be a priceless tumble between conservatives and bushie rino's.

Those States will stay blue forever, for the reason that you state and many other reasons.

But to claim that the establishment will be beaten out by what the GOP needs, is a far stretch, and I can say it's a far stretch, becasue that is exactly what I want too.

Out with the OLE' GUARD, and in with new true conservative blood.

Yeah but now there's Steve Bannon and Sebastian Gorka wanting to fight bushie rinos after they did their stint in the White House. They fucking know shit now lol. I'm pretty sure Trump has Bannon's number on speed dial too. If the new tax policy that comes out is a success, then it'll be a clear indication of a showdown between the populists and the ole guard. What are dumbocrats gonna do?

Plus Laura Ingraham, Sean Hannity and Mark Levin are killing it on talk radio. They did a complete turn and only push conservatives that fit the populist model that Trump unleashed to the world. Bushie shills like Glenn Beck and Bill Kristol have lost their reputation, as did Charles Krauthammer. There might be some RINO's as governors and mayors, but the Senate is going to see a change. Its gonna be good times!

.............meanwhile on the democrats side, they're out of money and are virtually bankrupt. Hell yeah!

Which polls were those? I follow polls, but I do not remember any that predicted landslides. These were the polls I looked at:

    https://www.realclearpolitics.com/e...s/general_election_trump_vs_clinton-5491.html

The composite shows Hillary winning narrowly, as she did in the popular vote.
