When America was great the first time according to Trump's followers non whites, Jews, and women were discriminated against. In addition, the economy was less technological. Computers and robots had not yet begun to eliminate jobs that people of low or even average intelligence could learn. Those entering the job market had been born during the Great Depression, when the birth rate was low. Finally, the Second World War had destroyed the factories of our trade rivals, while leaving ours intact.

For all of those reasons, during the 1950's it was easier for a white man with a nothing more than a high school diploma to earn a reasonably good income.

In 1959 Richard Nixon had his Kitchen Debate with Nikita Khrushchev. It was in a model of a home a white factory worker could afford back then. It was full of modern conveniences. Back then those kinds of jobs were readily available for white blue collar workers. Now they are not. Better trade deals will only bring back a few of them.

"Better trade deals" are a euphemism for higher tariffs. Those will mean higher consumer prices. Moreover, our trade rivals will retaliate by raising their tariffs. That will make it more difficult for American manufacturers to sell their produce in other countries. That in return will reduce the number of factory jobs.

Reducing immigration levels might help white blue collar workers somewhat. During the 1950's immigration levels were restricted by the Immigration Reform Act of 1924. That will not counteract the other factors I have listed.

Tax cuts for the rich will not help white blue collar workers at all. During the 1950's the top tax rate was 91%.

White blue collar workers are delusional if they think Trump cares about them. Trump is on record for saying, "our wages are too high."

One more thing to consider is that when America was great for the first time one third of the work force belonged to labor unions.

 

Get over yourself.

Tere isn't any tax cuts for the rich, tax cuts for business growth is what there is.

Immigration laws will be enforced, when people are happy with their employment, there will be room for more immigration.

People with a college education are not finding the jobs that they paid high dollar for, they need those jobs that they got a higher education for, so I dont have to pay their bills, and they can get out of their parents house, and start voting for Republicans.
