Feds Now Have Evidence Trump Broke the Law to Become President. Will Whitaker Bury It?

Friday’s in-depth Wall Street Journal report suggests the U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Southern District of New York and the FBI appear to possess evidence of Donald Trump’s involvement in a criminal scheme that helped get him elected president. This raises serious questions about what comes next, particularly in light of Trump’s appointment of Matthew Whitaker, a political loyalist, as acting attorney general. Trump played a central role in hush-money payments made to Karen McDougal and Stephanie Clifford during the 2016 presidential campaign, the Journal reports, adding more detail to the case of Michael Cohen, Trump’s former fixer-lawyer who pled guilty to federal campaign finance violations in the Southern District in August.

As a general rule I try to give First Ladies a pass. Unless they step out there and do something that makes them a player. Something like this. Because if there is one thing a First Lady is supposed to represent it some kind of class. And this is just low class. Not by First Lady standards. But by just working class decency standards. When I was a driller I fired lots of people. And I saw 10 times that fired with some of them making me do the happy dance. But I sure never rubbed that in their face and no one I respected did either. You don't fucking gloat about it if you have any class at all and have ever worked a day in your life.

Construction hiring booming and many available jobs


The U.S. shed 2.3 million construction jobs as the housing bubble burst, and has only regained about 1.85 million


One of the brightest spots in recent employment reports has been construction hiring.

Employers added a net new 23,000 construction jobs in September, the Labor Department said Friday, and the number of people working in the industry was 315,000 higher compared to a year earlier.

But there are still construction jobs open – and the pay and perks aren’t bad. At the end of July, there were 273,000 open construction jobs, according to a separate Labor Department report.

Manufacturing confidence alltime high

Optimism among U.S. manufacturers is soaring as the Republican-led tax cuts help fuel a white-hot economy with the lowest unemployment numbers in over a decade, but a significant labor shortage is undermining the gains, a new report shows.

Nearly 93 percent of manufacturers are projecting further expansion for their businesses, and positive sentiment among smaller companies is up to 91.3 percent, according to a quarterly survey from the National Association of Manufacturers. It's one of the best outlooks the group has seen in the 20 years it has conducted the survey among its 14,000 members.

 

OCTOBER JOBS 250K


Job growth blew past expectations in October and year-over-year wage gains jumped past 3 percent for the first time since the Great Recession, according to Labor Department figures released Friday.

Nonfarm payrolls powered up by 250,000 for the month, well ahead of Refinitiv estimates of 190,000. The unemployment rate stayed at 3.7 percent, the lowest since December 1969.

The ranks of the employed rose to a fresh record 156.6 million and the employment-to-population ratio increased to 60.6 percent, the highest level since December 2008, according to the department's household survey. That headline jobless number stayed level even amid a two-tenths of a percentage point rise in the labor force participation rate to 62.9 percent.

Those counted as outside the labor force tumbled by 487,000 to 95.9 million.

But the bigger story may be wage growth, which has been the missing piece of the economic recovery. Average hourly earnings increased by five cents an hour for the month and 83 cents year-over-year, representing a 3.1 percent gain. The annual increase in wages was the best since 2009.
