Sarah Sanders’ press office lauds Washington Post fact-checkers after Trump called the newspaper ‘fake news’

In a press release, the White House Office of the Press Secretary lauded Washington Post fact-checkers in spite of Donald Trump’s repeated attacks on the newspaper.

Dave Levinthal, a senior reporter with the Center for Public Integrity, flagged the ironic press release in a Tuesday tweet.

“The @WhiteHouse Office of the Press Secretary sends out an official statement touting the ace fact-checking efforts of the @washingtonpost,” Levinthal tweeted, “which @realDonaldTrump routinely calls “FAKE NEWS” and accuses of fabrications.”

Levinthal included screenshots of four tweets where the president called the newspaper “fake news” or criticized it, often in conjunction with his criticisms of Amazon and its founder, Jeff Bezos.

Sarah Sanders will lie for Trump because she thinks she’s ‘defending God’s chosen leader’: Ex-Baptist pastor

A lengthy New Yorker profile of White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders tries to answer why someone who is a devout Christian can justify repeatedly lying on behalf of President Donald Trump.

In part, the profile concludes that Sanders is willing to lie for the president because he has actually kept the promises he made to evangelical Christians, especially regarding the appointment of hard-line conservative judges.

The piece cites Washington Post religion reporter Michelle Boorstein, who says that evangelicals are happy to have a president who will do what they say — a stark contrast to past politicians who “have broken promises to Christian conservatives.”

It then quotes former Baptist pastor Brian Kaylor, who believes most evangelicals see Trump’s 2016 election victory as a divine intervention that justifies excusing almost any kind of immoral behavior by the president.

“It’s more than you are defending a politician, or even a President,” he explained. “You are defending God’s chosen leader for this time.”

White House reporter explains the ‘cognitive dissonance’ necessary to be Sarah Huckabee Sanders

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders has to tell herself “stories” about President Donald Trump, resulting from the “cognitive dissonance” required to be an evangelical Christian in the White House, Washington Post columnist Ruth Marcus explained on MSNBC.

Anchor Chris Jansing introduced the Monday segment in the context of the “bad news” continuing to “pile up for the president.”

Jansing read quotes from a lengthy New Yorker profile of Sanders, who is the daughter of Baptist minister and former politician Mike Huckabee.

“There has to be enormous amount of cognitive dissonance in being an evangelical supporter of President Trump, given his past behavior, and the present way he treats people,” Marcus explained.

“That has to be multiplied many times if you are his chief spokesperson,” she added.

“And so, you need to just keep telling yourself stories — really, that’s the way I interpret it — about why this is justified and why the greater good is to continue to vouch for this person, whose behavior you may privately find repellant,” Marcus continued.

“And it’s an interesting insight into the human condition, of what we need to tell ourselves, to get that job done,” she concluded.

The total cluster fuck continues. Sarah Sanders was on TV today saying they wanted Kavanaugh's second accuser to testify Thursday. And just a short time later Trump said they don't want her to testify because its some kind of con.

But this is also a very big part of the problem. For his own ego Trump has to feel he is the smartest person in the room. So in order to maintain that delusional he surrounds himself with people more stupid than he is. Which is a very hard thing to do but he manages it. And then they say things like this.

White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders on Tuesday insisted that Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh deserved a fair hearing and an up-or-down vote — just as “every single” other Supreme Court nominee has supposedly received.

During an appearance on “Fox & Friends,” Sanders pushed for the Senate to get on with confirming Kavanaugh, and cited past precedence of other nominees getting votes shortly after their hearings.

“The president wants this process to come to a vote because *that’s what’s supposed to happen in every single one of these instances where someone is nominated, they go before, they have a hearing, and then the senators vote on it,” Sanders said.

However, that is not what happened with Judge Merrick Garland, who was nominated by former President Barack Obama and for whom Senate Republicans refused to even hold a hearing.

CNN’s Acosta calls out Sarah Sanders: ‘I think there have been many occasions when you don’t state the facts’

White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders on Wednesday was called out by CNN correspondent Jim Acosta for not always telling the truth.

During the first White House press briefing in nearly a month, Acosta pointed out that President Donald Trump had mocked Dr. Christine Blasey Ford’s account of an alleged sexual assault at the hands of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

“Isn’t there something wrong with the president of the United States mocking somebody who says that she was sexually assaulted?” Acosta wondered.

Sanders, however, repeated an earlier answer, stating that Trump merely stated facts when he is said to have mocked Ford.

*“He said that he was stating facts that Dr. Ford herself laid out in her testimony,” Sanders replied. “Once again, every single word that Judge Kavanaugh has said has been looked at, examined, picked apart by most of you in this room.”

“Every single bit of evidence and facts that we’ve seen in this moment have supported Judge Kavanaugh’s case and the president simply pointed out the facts,” Sanders insisted.

“Are you saying Judge Kavanaugh is the victim in all this?” Acosta pressed.

“I think both Ford and Judge Kavanaugh are victims at the hands of the Democrats,” Sanders opined. “I think it is absolutely disgraceful what they have done and exploited this process. They exploited Dr. Ford and all the women that have come out to make any accusation.”

“You don’t have any problem defending the president’s comment?” Acosta asked.

“I don’t have any problem stating facts, no,” Sanders shot back. “I know that is something that you probably do have a problem with.”

Acosta refused to let Sanders have the last word.

“Actually, we do state the facts,” he told Sanders. “And I think there have been many occasions when you don’t state the facts.”

CNN fires back after Sanders claims network blamed her and Trump for pipe bomb mailings

CNN fired back on Monday after White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said the network blamed her and President Trump for the pipe bomb that was sent to its New York office.

Sanders and CNN correspondent Jim Acosta verbally sparred during a press briefing on Monday after Acosta asked for Sanders to name which media outlets Trump would label the “enemies of the people.”

She declined to name an outlet but said “those individuals probably know who they are,” before turning her attention to CNN.

"I think it’s irresponsible of a news organization like yours to blame responsibility of a pipe bomb that was not sent by the president, not just blame the president but blame members of his administration for those heinous acts," Sanders said.

CNN’s communications department responded to the interaction on Twitter, saying the press secretary hasn’t understood that her words matter.

“No @PressSec, CNN did not say @realDonaldTrump was directly responsible for the bomb sent to our office by his ardent and emboldened supporter,” CNN tweeted. “We did say that he, and you, should understand your words matter. Every single one of them. But so far, you don’t seem to get that.”

Sanders appeared to be referring to a statement that CNN President Jeff Zucker sent last week after CNN's headquarters in New York were evacuated over a package bomb. In the statement, Zucker said Trump and Sanders had not shown an understanding that their attacks on the media had consequences.

"The President, and especially the White House Press Secretary, should understand their words matter," Zucker said. "Thus far, they have shown no comprehension of that. There is a total and complete lack of understanding at the White House about the seriousness of their continued attacks on the media."

The president has repeatedly targeted CNN and other mainstream outlets as the “enemy of the people.”

Trump cast blame on the “fake news” media for the "division and hatred" plaguing the U.S. on Sunday night.

"The Fake News is doing everything in their power to blame Republicans, Conservatives and me for the division and hatred that has been going on for so long in our Country," Trump tweeted. "Actually, it is their Fake & Dishonest reporting which is causing problems far greater than they understand!"

His comments also came one day after a gunman killed 11 congregants at a Pittsburgh synagogue in what was the deadliest attack against Jews in U.S. history.

I don't think she can even get a job at Fox News because she is not physically attractive enough no matter how well she can lie. And here is another great example of just how skilled she is at lying for Trump. Because I think this is one of those "big enough" lies Joseph Goebbels talked about. I do not believe Trump talked to anyone about ending birthright citizens. He just blurted it out because he is mentally ill and will say anything he thinks sounds good at the moment. And then the White House and his administration have to scramble to get out there and lie for him and try to cover it up.

For people from CNN to tell Trump HE has to tone it down, without acknowledging their own "rage of the day" format,.where Trump is responsible for some new threat to democracy and/or the country, is almost as funny as PlannedParenthood excoriating Trump for attempting to ""Eliminate #birthrightcitizenship" claiming it "would be incredibly harmful & is part of this [Trump] administration's radical, hateful agenda to stoke fear in our communities and contribute to many people's already very real fear of deportation," tweeted Planned Parenthood's nonprofit advocacy arm."

Of course, while you may (or may not) see a story on their websites, when the are , not only do they not tone down their rhetoric, they barely cover the story.

A former FBI special agent says White House press secretary Sarah Sanders libeled CNN reporter Jim Acosta by sharing an altered video of his interaction with an intern during a presidential news conference.

Asha Rangappa, a CNN contributor and former counterintelligence agent, said Sanders had met the standard of proof for libel — publishing a false statement to damage a person’s reputation.

“.@PressSec you are seriously tweeting out an obviously doctored video – from InfoWars no less – to substantiate a false accusation of assault against a journalist???” Rangappa tweeted.

*“The standard for libel against a public figure is acting with ‘actual malice,’ and your tweet is Exhibit A,” she added.

The White House revoked Acosta’s access to the White House after President Donald Trump called him a “rude, terrible person” for asking questions during the briefing, and an intern attempted to grab his microphone.

Sanders accused Acosta of “placing his hands on a young woman” during the incident, and then shared a video circulated by InfoWars editor Paul Joseph Watson that is briefly slowed down at one point to make Acosta’s actions look more aggressive.

You either knew or should have known it was false. You did not give the other person an opportunity to respond prior to publication, and you did it with malice. And Sanders got all three.

CNN trolled Sarah Sanders with a real-time “Facts First” lie buster, as she undermined the Trump administration’s new report on climate change during Tuesday’s White House press conference.

“The president is certainly leading on what matters most in this process and that’s on having clean air and clean water,” Sanders began, before saying that the latest report came to “radical conclusions” that “contradicts long-established trends.”

As she spoke, a window suddenly opened, reading “CNN Facts First: climate change report involved 300 scientists, 13 federal agencies.”

CNN, repeatedly attacked by the president as “fake news”, has been hammering the administration on the report for the past week. Sanders continued to dismiss the findings of the scientific report.
