This time, a serious thread.

For the last ... while ... I've been reading about people being privileged. My question is:

What's wrong with being born into a well off home?

I've never gone hungry in my life. I've never struggled. I think I came off fairly well.

So .. why is it so bad?

 

Its one thing to have a home with a well off family who can provide for you. but its entirely different when (just an exaggerated example) the well off family buys you a brand new top of the line car fully loaded with everything. then the next day, they buy a different brand new one because you didnt like the color of the first.

 

Yeah it's the difference between being a humble person and being a spoiled brat- and most people that come from rich family's are of the spoiled brat type- it seems to be a pretty proven cliche, but there are plenty of exceptions.
In most cases people that work for everything they have walk out with much more character.

There's nothing wrong with being privileged, as long as you're grounded, and especially don't try to front like you're "ghetto" like so many rich kids do.

There is nothing wrong with being privileged per se.

It rather depends on what you do with it.

 

it should be a requirement (to buy a house, or rent an appartment, or get a job ect) that someone knows how to wash dishes, or do their laundry, or something along those lines.

No joke...i knew someone in college who MAILED HER LAUNDRY HOME!!!!! so her mom could do it for her. she was too much of a whiney little brat that she wouldnt walk down the hall and do it herself. and her parents didn't live nearby either...they were several states away.

Well this creates work for the motor industry and puts a used car on the lot for someone who can't afford a new one. Yes I know as a day old its not been used much, but watch the knock on effect as people trade up.

 

Im certainly not jealous of her, and it doesnt really bother me personally either. Its more of just that shock that there are actaully people out there who dont know how to take care of themselves and need to rely on their parents for everything. I understand that its their family who gets to decide what they want to do, but comon...its time to grow up and learn some life skills. besides, its far more expensive and alot more work to mail it than to do it yourself. Not to mention im sure the parents have better things to do

heh, ya the spoiled brats and "privileged people" certainly help the economy. but that doesn't make them any less of a spoiled brat, which most people would agree is not a good thing.

 

Like a broken record all I hear is the same sad old tune. Leave them to front as much as they want, who is it hurting.

Also turn it around and see the kid who climbs out of the ghetto, ditches the ghetto vernacular and speaks correctly, gets an education, becomes a lawyer/stoke broker/doctor are these guys "fronting it" by becoming more successful or are they just hard working success stories?

 

No I understand the point you are making, but if they have the cash is it not better to be spending it rather than leaving it in the bank idle.

 

Not all spoilt kids come from a priviledged background. I know a few from the poorer classes who can't cope in their areas of daily living, and parents/siblings do everything for them.

Fronting means pretending to be something you're not. A privileged person acting like they come from the ghetto is fronting. A person who comes from the ghetto or something similar, makes it out, and drops all the immature shit is simply growing up and becoming a man.
