Among family and friends, we often have a heated rows about what a really gay person is. Is it just simply someone in the body of what is considered to be of the opposite sex, or is it more complicated than that? Of course all the smart asses are going to say that it's obviously more complicated than that, but I'd like to know what really gay people think. Of course I'd love to hear other peoples comments as well.

I never could understand the fascination some people have in trying to find out why some people are attracted to another person.
Not everyone is attracted to the same type person. That is just life. It works out pretty good as there are quite a few different types to choose from.
Most people can find someone they are attracted to. Who another person is attracted to should not be of so much importance to another person.
Neither should the reason why they are attracted to another person.

 

Well, for instance, the young people I talk to get mad when I say, that a male gay, is a female in a male's body. Now, I know that it is more complicated than that, but I do think that it is the essential. And I think that by denying that, it only makes his or her life more complicated. Why can't he use female changing rooms? Why can't he get married like any woman? Why are two male gay parents considered as two males and not as an undefinable mixture of male and female? But the essential of the my question is, what exactly does someone who is really gay, feel with regards to the sex that she identifies with. Does he or she feel inside him or her, that their should be another definition to her sex? But not just yes or no. How does that person feel inside. What sensations do they feel with regards to their real sex. The sex inside them.

 

Basically of course "male" and "female" on official papers should no longer exist.

 

Well I am in love with my partner who is also female. I have breasts and a pussy I love her on a whole load of levels and none of them need include being sexually attracted to her which I am,very much so.

I am a man..trapped in a man's body..who happens to love women and their bodies. I also happen to like dick, but not the men attached to them. I can love a female and live with one forever. I cannot love a man nor do I want to live with one...but I still want his dick. I'm attracted to and get aroused by looking at women's bodies. So, in you're daily life, when you walk in the street, and see the guys and girls around you. At that moment, don you feel wholly, an affinity with males, rather than girls, or do you feel mostly male with just a tendency to be female. Does the sight of a girl thrill you as much as it does me, which I suppose is the case, and do you feel, to a certain point, a similar excitement when you see a guy.

You have trans and gay mixed up entirely.

A gay person identifies with the body they were born in, just loves and is attracted to bodies with the same plumbing as theirs.

A trangendered person is a person who feels they were born into the wrong body. And they may be gay, or straight, or anywhere in between.

It's not that complicated to distinguish. As for why.... Why are you attracted to whoever, or whatever, you're attracted to? Because those same reasons, and a host of others, can be attributed to why I'm attracted to who I am, and why everyone else in the world is attracted to who they are.

 

I know people get upset over "labels" but words have meaning.
That doesn't mean that label defines that person in their entirety.
"Gay" (when used in reference to sex) means homosexual.
Homosexual means a person who has sex with another person of the same gender.

Bi, Experimental, curious, poly, whatever, if you perform sexual acts with or to a person of the same gender it's a homosexual act.
It doesn't define you as a person. It doesn't make you a good or bad person.
It doesn't mean that it's your only sexual orientation.
It's only a slur or insult if you let it be.
It's only a sin if YOU think it is.

What it is, is a word and like I said at the beginning, words have meaning.

I sort of agree with @speakeasy above but with the caveat that gay, like any other label, allows people to compartmentalize a group of people that they do not understand or are afraid of or both without getting to know them!!

Unfortunately labelling can very quickly lead to judgement and then the whole herd instinct can take over and that allows evil people to manipulate stupid people and then people start dying!!

All because of a label!!!

Well I am not gay but I am Bi sexual and I am perfectly OK with that. I find woman sexually attractive, I find men sexually attractive and although I have never had a relationship with a man I can tell you that I could be perfectly happy living with another guy as a couple.

Whatever it is that is trapped inside my body it is neither a She nor a He so I am guessing that my sexuality belongs to something more than a biological imperative or social construction

 

The term gay is a descriptor that describes ones sexual orientation.
