And I am not going to argue with the PR hack and his many many socks either. But you can bet a laughed my ass off over him accidentally posting the proof that Trump, his lawyers, and his administration can't be believed. One because they get caught lying all the time. But also just in those headlines is proof that they are very subtlety changing their story and grasping at straws. While in the meantime there are numerous reports that Trump is personally under investigation now for obstruction of justice and his financial ties to Russian money laundering.

Also more and more things in Christopher Steele's dossier are being investigated and confirmed.

Schiff: We want to meet with dossier author

Washington (CNN)California Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff said both he and the Republican leading the House intelligence committee's Russia investigation want to meet with the former British intelligence officer who authored a controversial dossier containing explosive allegations about President Donald Trump and top members of his campaign.

Schiff's comments to CNN's "State of the Union" on Sunday came after news broke that a pair of Republican staff members on the committee traveled to London to try to get an interview with the dossier author, Christopher Steele. In the interview, Schiff said he had not known about the trip and suspected Texas Rep. Mike Conaway, the Republican leading the investigation, had not either.

"I wasn't aware of it," Schiff said. "I don't think Mr. Conaway was either. But the reality is we do want to meet with Mr. Steele."

CNN reported in early January that Trump was briefed on the dossier, which includes allegations about Trump's associates, finances and personal life, and Trump has gone on to dismiss its contents entirely, dismissing them as "phony."

Steele has largely shied from the spotlight since it became public that he wrote the incendiary document, and Schiff said he and Conaway would be willing to interview Steele in the United Kingdom should Steele not wish to travel to the United States.

"If he's not willing to do that, we'd be happy -- Mr. Conaway and myself -- to go to London to sit down with him," Schiff said.

Schiff said the committee would want to speak with Steele as it went through the allegations in the dossier as part of the Russia investigation.

A congressional source familiar with the GOP aides' trip has told CNN that House investigators are expected to send a letter to Steele, inviting him to testify before the intelligence committee, but that would first need to be approved by the leaders of the panel's investigation.

REVEALED: Former CIA spy believes Putin intentionally left paper trail from Trump Tower to the Kremlin

While President Donald Trump continues to deny that Russia was involved in hacking the 2016 election, intelligence agencies maintain they were and continue to be. One former CIA station chief believes the reports and warns that they show no sign of slowing.

In an NPR interview, Daniel Hoffman recalled about his time in spent at a U.S. diplomatic compound in Moscow. He warned that every American official should consider themselves a target.

“I should know. I was one of them,” Hoffman said.

The CIA veteran spent five years working in Moscow and is a three-time station chief, so he has a lot of experience observing Russian spies. He currently writes for The Cipher Brief and is available for speaking engagements. Some of whom lead to the revelations about the Trump Tower meeting with Jared Kushner, Donald Trump Jr. and Paul Manafort.

“It pointed to a discoverable influence operation rather than some effort to establish a clandestine channel for collusion,” he said.

In an op-ed for The New York Times, Hoffman alleged that the meetings were meant to be discovered and Putin left a trail from Trump Tower back to the Kremlin, a fact he told Fox News last week. He thinks that the goal was to undermine the credibility of the 2016 election and diminish United States democracy.

Hoffman doesn’t see any evidence of “anyone actually colluding with the Russians,” he said. Other intelligence veterans have publicly disagreed. However, Hoffman thinks it is telling of the tactics Russia is willing to use. He also thinks the Russians were involved in the notorious dossier.

“One possible explanation for the content was that Russian intelligence was aware that the dossier was being written,” Hoffman explained. “And that they fed not only true information — but untrue information as well. Which is their regular modus operandi for covert influence operations.”

But when asked if he thinks Russia has “dirt” on Trump he paused for “an uncharacteristically” long time, NPR described.

“The way I would answer that question is that Russian intelligence collects information on their own people,” he claimed. “They focus to a great extent on us at the American Embassy, to collect information on us. They seek to understand [as they say in Russian] what makes us breathe. That’s really what they want to know.”

So Russian spies might be trying to figure out what makes the new U.S. president tick. Meanwhile, Putin has retaliated against the sanctions and expelled 755 diplomats from the country. The U.S. gets to choose which ones, however.

REVEALED: Report suggests Devin Nunes may be be conducting a shadow investigation of Russian dossier author

Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) may still be directing his own investigation into leaks related to Trump’s campaign ties to Russia, even after stepping aside during an ethics inquiry.

Two congressional staffers traveled to London last month — reportedly at the direction of a longtime aide to Nunes — to question former British spy Christopher Steele about a memo he wrote about Trump campaign ties to Russia, reported The Guardian.

Politico first reported their visit Friday, saying the two GOP staffers left their contact information at the office of Steele’s attorney and then with another associate.

Steele was meeting with his counsel at the law office when the congressional staffers made a surprise visit — and Senate investigators were worried their actions will spook the former spy out of cooperating with the probe.

“It was an intelligence committee trip although going to meet with the lawyer was not the sole purpose of the trip,” said one congressional official. “They were also there on other committee business. Them being sent to meet with the lawyers was at the behest of the committee staff director.”

Damon Nelson, staff director for the House intelligence committee, served as Nunes’ deputy chief of staff from 2003 to 2014, and he then served as a senior adviser to the California Republican for a year.

Nunes stepped aside from overseeing the Russia probe in April after the House ethics panel opened an investigation into whether the lawmaker leaked classified information in an attempt to discredit the Obama administration.

Rep. Mike Conaway (R-TX) took over the House intelligence probe, but the panel’s ranking Democrat accused Nunes of continuing to intervene in the investigation.

Democratic lawmakers were angry they hadn’t been consulted about the two staffers’ London trip, while Republicans have accused their colleagues of maintaining back-channel contacts with Steele about the explosive, 35-page dossier.

Steele’s unverified dossier circulated in Washington prior to the election and was published shortly before Inauguration Day.

The former MI6 officer was contracted during the campaign by the U.S.-based opposition research firm Fusion GPS to dig into Donald Trump’s background, and he found evidence that the GOP campaign cooperated with Russia.

BUSTED: Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort’s home targeted in predawn FBI raid

Federal agents recently conducted a pre-dawn raid at a house owned by former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort.

The Washington Post reports that FBI agents raided Manfort’s home in Alexandria, Virginia, late last month. The agents were armed with a search warrant that they used to seize documents and “other materials,” the Post’s sources say.

“The search warrant was wide-ranging and FBI agents working with special counsel Robert S. Mueller III departed the home with various records,” the Post reports. “The raid came as Manafort has been voluntarily producing documents to congressional committees investigating Russia’s interference in the 2016 presidential election. The search warrant indicates investigators may have argued to a federal judge they had reason to believe Manafort could not be trusted to turn over all records in response to a grand jury subpoena.”

Manafort, who served for several months as Trump’s campaign chairman before being ousted over his ties to Kremlin-backed political figures in Ukraine, is seen as a key figure in the ongoing investigation into whether Trump’s campaign colluded with Russian officials to interfere with the 2016 presidential campaign.

Manafort allies tell the Post that special prosecutor Robert Mueller may be building a case against Manafort that has nothing to do with Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election, in the hopes that he would flip and give them information on other members within Trump’s inner circle.

A spokesperson for Manafort subsequently confirmed to ABC News that the former Trump campaign chairman’s home had been raided, while also insisting that Manafort had done everything in his power to cooperate with the investigation.

The July 26 raid at Manafort’s home in Alexandria, Virginia, came one day after he met with investigators for the Senate Intelligence Committee about his June 9, 2016, meeting with Russians promising damaging information about Hillary Clinton.

Here are some of the most significant clues about the Russia probe revealed in reporting on the Manafort raid:

The former Trump campaign chairman had been voluntarily producing documents to congressional investigators — but the search warrant indicates investigators told a federal judge they had reason to believed Manafort could not be trusted to turn over all records sought by a federal subpoena — or might even destroy some of the evidence.

That suspicion alone isn’t enough to justify a search warrant. Prosecutors must persuade a judge there is probable cause to believe evidence of a crime will be found during a search. In other words, “FBI agents had to swear to their belief that fruits of a crime would be found in Manafort’s home,” former federal prosecutor Kenneth Julian told Business Insider — and the judge had to agree.

It’s not clear what crime FBI agents expected to uncover at Manafort’s home, but a New York Times report on the raid offers a clue. The search warrant seeks tax and foreign banking records — which suggests that investigators may look to charge Manafort under the federal Bank Secrecy Act requiring Americans to report their foreign bank accounts.

The wide-ranging search warrant included documents Manafort had already provided to Congress, and he also turned over 400 pages to meet an Aug. 2 deadline. But the raid prompted fears that Mueller was trying to build a case against Manafort unrelated to the campaign to pressure him into turning on other Trump associates. “(I) would add that a raid coming months into a probe when subject’s attorneys have been talking to the Department of Justice also suggests something serious,” said Matthew Miller, former communications director for the Justice Department and spokesman for former attorney general Eric Holder.

The raid has seemingly spooked the president and his allies. Trump smeared the acting FBI director as a Clinton partisan about three hours after the search warrant was executed, and both he and his short-lived communications director spent the next 24 hours making outrageous statements. The National Enquirer, which is run by a Trump friend and attacks the president’s enemies in print, published a hit piece on Manafort about an hour after the search warrant was first reported.

The former Trump campaign chairman’s home was raided late last month by FBI agents seeking evidence in a widening probe of his activity before the election — including his financial ties to Russian oligarchs — after his bank records were subpoenaed, reported Bloomberg Politics.

Federal investigators have been examining allegations that Manafort laundered money from Russia Eastern Europe through New York real estate, according to two sources familiar with that inquiry.

Special counsel Robert Mueller is now investigating those transactions, along with the purchase of Trump properties by wealthy Russians over the past decade and disgraced national security adviser Mike Flynn’s foreign entanglements.

The predawn raid on Manafort’s Virginia home caught the political adviser and his lawyers off guard, according to Bloomberg Politics, because it came a day after he provided notes to the Senate Intelligence Committee on his meeting with Trump Jr. and the Russian attorney.

The Bloomberg report also seems to indicate that Manafort initially told investigators about that meeting — which the president’s son first denied with his father’s help but then provided emails showing how the meeting was set up.

“In fact, Manafort had alerted authorities to a controversial meeting on June 9, 2016, involving Trump’s son Donald Jr., other campaign representatives and a Russian lawyer promising damaging information on Hillary Clinton, according to people familiar with the matter,” Bloomberg reported. “The president and his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, were dragged into the matter as details repeatedly emerged that contradicted the initial accounts of that meeting.”

That seems to confirm the New York Times‘ initial July 8 report on the meeting.

“Manafort, the former campaign chairman, also recently disclosed the meeting, and Donald Trump Jr.’s role in organizing it, to congressional investigators who had questions about his foreign contacts, according to people familiar with the events,” the Times reported.

The newspaper based its report on confidential government records based on interviews and documents shared with congressional investigators.

It’s not clear when Manafort told congressional investigators about the meeting, but a Federal Election Commission filing shows the president’s re-election campaign paid Trump Jr.’s attorneys $50,000 for legal consulting 11 days before the Times story broke.

The Bloomberg report also shows that Manafort’s longtime deputy Rick Gates and son-in-law Jeffrey Yohai had also been implicated in the Mueller probe.

Mueller’s team sent grand jury subpoenas in recent weeks to Manafort and Gates seeking global bank records, and Yohai is under investigation for operating an alleged Ponzi scheme.

Attorneys for both Gates and Yohai declined to comment on the report.
