Rachel Maddow was reporting on this tonight and she had an 89 page redacted version but a lot of the pages were blank due to the redactions. But then she reported that when Manafort's lawyers got Mueller's unredacted copy with all the supporting evidence all they could do was file a motion asking the judge for more time because what Mueller had filed was actually 800+ pages.

Let me point out something that is very significant but easy to miss. According to the reporting Mueller already had the documentation and witness testimony before Michael Cohen even walked in the door to cooperate. And all Cohen had to do was confirm it. Which is a pretty good indication how far Robert Mueller is ahead of everyone else.

Mueller's team knew 'dossier' kicking off Trump investigation was biased and defective

Yet instead of investigating those individuals at the FBI and Justice Department who actively participated in the dossier fraud – as he should have done – Mueller hired several of them to investigate Trump.

Newly confirmed congressional testimony of former Associate Deputy Attorney General Bruce Ohr shows that he warned both the FBI and the Justice Department that Steele was “desperate that Donald Trump not get elected.”

These same FBI and Justice Department officials also deliberately disregarded the source of Steele’s funding –Trump’s political opponent, Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

And incredibly, the officials concealed all of this vital information from the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance (FISA) Court in obtaining a warrant to spy on a Trump campaign associate. But that’s not all. They used the Steele report to launch the original Trump-Russia “collusion” investigation.

The sordid scheme began on July 5, 2016 – the very day Clinton was cleared of mishandling classified documents by FBI Director James Comey.

As Comey was twisting the facts and contorting the law to absolve Clinton, an FBI agent was meeting secretly in London with Steele, who had composed the first of his memos.

It has now come to light that Ohr warned all of these FBI and Justice Department officials that Steele was riven with bias. They were also informed that the Clinton campaign and Democrats had paid for the Steele dossier through the company Fusion GPS and its founder Glenn Simpson, who also employed Ohr’s wife, Nellie.

Here is Ohr’s specific testimony to the joint House Judiciary and Oversight and Government Reform Committees that was elicited behind closed doors last Aug. 28, but that has not been fully made public:

Question: “So, the record is clear, what the Department of Justice and the FBI was aware of prior to the first FISA application was your relationship with Christopher Steele and Glenn Simpson, your wife’s relationship with Christopher Steele and Glenn Simpson, Mr. Steele’s bias against Donald Trump, Mr. Simpson’s bias against Donald Trump, your wife’s compensation for work for Glenn Simpson and Fusion GPS, correct?”

Ohr: “Correct.”

Ohr later added: “I told them that Chris Steele was desperate that Donald Trump not get elected.”

Ohr also told congressional investigators that he knew the entire effort to target Trump was being financially underwritten by the Clinton presidential campaign. The FBI and Justice Department knew this, too.

Ohr said he warned the two law enforcement agencies: “You’re going to have to check it out and be aware. These guys were hired by somebody relating to – who’s related to the Clinton campaign, and be aware.”

 

Man, you guys act as if the ONLY piece of evidence that Mueller has is the dossier.

 

Another aspect that is getting a lot of coverage is the William Barr confirmation hearings where Senators nailed him down on the question; if the president instructed someone to commit perjury would that constitute obstruction of justice? And Barr answered yes. Which is significant given his really narrow view of what would constitute obstruction of justice by a president.

And we can expect a Democratic Senator like Amy Klobuchar to nail Barr's feet to the floor on a question like that. But what is getting even more air time is Trump's biggest supporter Lindsey Graham also nailing Barr down on the same question.

Also while I have my doubts another thing I am seeing is people, especially people who know Barr, on both the right and left, saying Trump nominating Barr is one of the biggest fuck ups of his presidency if Trump thinks Barr will protect him. Everyone agrees Barr is far right and has a really expansive view of the powers of the presidency. Because Barr also believes in the rule of law and the institution of the Justice Department and will not hesitate to drop the hammer on Trump if the evidence warrants it.

And notice how the PR hacks actually defeat their own arguments with their latest false propaganda by screaming about Ohr warning the FBI about who paid for the dossier and Christopher Steele going to the FBI warning them Trump cannot be allowed to become president.

There is some truth to that but they are trying to spin it backwards. The FBI had already opened their investigation into the Trump campaign colluding with Russia based on evidence they had and foreign intelligence that was warning them. Then Steele, who had worked for the FBI many times, started collecting his information and what he was finding was so earth shattering he dropped the opo research and instead contacted the FBI to tell them Trump and his campaign were colluding with Putin/Russia and that Trump was compromised by Putin and he handed over his dossier. And the dossier confirmed what they were already learning from their investigation and foreign intelligence.

All Ohr was doing was full disclosure making sure before they went ahead that everyone knew the dossier was actually opposition research for the Democrats and that Steele was adamant that Trump was a Russian asset. But since the dossier corroborated what they were all ready finding they incorporated into their FISA application where it was clearly identified as opposition research.

And now the right wing false propaganda machine are reduced to trying to claim that since Clinton's name was not on the FISA application its all one big conspiracy. When in reality multiple things in the dossier have already been proven true and noting in the dossier has so far been proven false.

 

The FISA Court had the Dossier, and essentially that's all they had to get a warrant to spy on this nations own citizens.

The Dossier is the only reason that this investigation exists.

Mueller's office has just issued an incredibly public statement disputing the article published in Buzzfeed so that one could be a big assed trainweck. But I will have to look at the actual statement to see what Mueller is really saying/
