As we know the republican party was bitterly humiliated by it's defeat in the last election.
Like a spoilt child that has had it's toy taken away and unable to offer any viable policies of it's own they have decided against bi-partisan cooperation in governing America and rebuilding it from the destruction of the 2 x Bush presidency.

Instead they have like a small spoilt crying child decided to hurt the American people directly for not voting for them.

Having forced through the "sequester" the very people who say protecting America is the most important thing, will now cause losses to the military, Border patrol and FBI, cut teachers jobs and the ability of small business to hire new workers.

They should be ashamed of themselves and Republican voters should be ashamed that they voted for these politicians that put their own power before the interests of the people and the country.

Through their actions this week the Republicans have again demonstrated why they are not fit to govern as they have clearly forgotten "for the people", that means all the people not the special interest group that funded your campaign.

As an unelectable political party, with outdated ideology and no policies that address real issues in a real sense, they are like a surrounded, defeated army that has decided to burn the city down around them.

    Shame on them.

You seem to have forgotten that the "sequester" originated in the White House, as a ploy by the President to get the Congress to increase the debt limit. It was a promise to make the cuts needed on a more timely basis. They continued to kick the can down the road.

Guess what, those nasty old Republicans are calling the bluff, good for them.

Now can the folks on both sides of the aisle get serious about fixing the problems sanely?

According to who, Fox news ?

To use one of your sides favourite analogy's "it not the gun that kills but the nutter pulling the trigger".

The white house is the gun, the trigger puller is the house Republicans and they loaded the gun.

As Sequester Deadline Looms, Little Support for Cutting Most Programs

Pew Research Center February 22, 2013

As the March 1 deadline for a possible budget sequester approaches, a new national survey finds limited public support for reducing spending for a range of specific programs, including defense, entitlements, education and health care.

For 18 of 19 programs tested, majorities want either to increase spending or maintain it at current levels. The only exception is assistance for needy people around the world. Nonetheless, as many say that funding for aid to the needy overseas should either be increased (21%), or kept the same (28%), as decreased (48%).
    http://www.people-press.org/2013/02...oms-little-support-for-cutting-most-programs/

"Assistance for needy people around the world," is less than two percent of the federal budget.

For several years public opinions polls have indicated considerable support for a more progressive tax system.

There has to be a balance, it can't be all one way or the other.
Both parties are to blame here. They left Washington last Thursday when Friday was supposed to be the deadline. They aren't working in our behalf, none of them.

No, according to everyone including the Democrats. It was a way to force both sides into the deficit cutting mode, so far it didn't work the way the architects thought it would.

Now try to open your eyes and mind to the idea that both sides are fucking up the country.

There are as many Democrats in the NRA as there are Republicans, you really need to stop the stereotyping.

We can thank the lame stream media for not reporting that it is cuts on INCREASED spending. The base is still there.

So if they were to get a 100.00 increase they will only get a 98.00 dollar increase.

And this is after obama increased all budgets when he took office.

And if obama was so worried why did he go out and campainge instead of calling all into the White House and work on this.

obama is NOT a leader never was never will be he is a community organizer and he is not used to getting his way.

Sadly, Tenguy is correct: The sequester was actually the White House's idea, instituted with the hopes of forcing a "Grand Bargain" with the Republicans on the budget. For some reason, Obama thought it would be possible to negotiate with the GOP leadership, but in fact Boehner and the rest are unable to ride herd over the Tea Party, who are quite happy to embrace the sequester cuts regardless of the economic consequences. For them, it's not really about balancing the budget (and there's reason to believe that the sequester cuts may even be counterproductive to deficit reduction if they send us back into recession); it's about dismantling government by any means necessary. Once again, Obama played right into their hands.

I held off posting this topic to see when it would show up, if at all.

Now it seems that after the fact Obamonicks show up crying over a bill that was the Whites Houses idea (from Jack Lew who is now Sec of Treasury).

BTW Jack Lew was in charge of the budget which he has never gotten one passed the entire time
    Obama has been in office.

We are spending 3.8 trillion and someone thinks 85 billion is gonna hurt?

As Old throbbing said...this only cuts less than half of the increases in spending.

If Obama thinks the sequestration provisions are draconian, he should not have proposed them.

And if he were not engaging in cynical posturing now, he could dispense with the lie that the legislation has his hands tied. Sheesh. That excuse never stopped him before. He has personally written more legislation by executive decree, and has expanded presidential powers, more radically than any of his predecessors.

    Yet now it's Boehner's fault?

For calling Obama's bluff and letting Obama's cynical provisions be enacted?

My, my, my. How many more weeks will it be before David Axelrod and Valerie Jarrett come up with a new excuse for Obama to rant that the sky is falling? Now that they can no longer blame Bush?

Oh... about two weeks. That's when the budget impasse comes to a head. That's when Obama will start warning us about the government shutdown that Boehner is about to cause.

And the moonbats will fall for it again.

What did Maxine Waters say? That the sequestration would cost America 170 million jobs? Impressive number. Given that only 139 million Americans are working.

Yep. We'll fall for it again. Sure as shit floats to the top.

BTW, the 85 billion in cuts (which actually is only about $40 billion in cuts, since it's spread across two years) really will take a big hit out of the economy.

Why? Well, it is true that it only amounts to almost 1% of the annual federal budget ($3.5 trillion per year, more than double the budget when W. Bush left office, and that was AFTER TARP and all the bailouts). But that 1% will still be a big hit, because we are bankrupt. More than 40% of the federal budget is for interest payments on the debt, and most of the remainder is for non-discretionary entitlements. Obama provided that the sequestration measures would hit the tiny portion of the budget that is discretionary. Because he won't let the Republicans reform entitlements and won't let them touch his sacred cows.

So, we're fucked. Which I guess is the whole point.

    P.S.

Yes, I know Axelrod no longer personally pulls Obama's puppet strings. But his tried and true formula lives on, as dependably as TOTUS.

I know, but I felt like I had to throw that in as a disclaimer, because this thread is packed to the gills with stark-raving-foaming-at-the-mouth moonbats who would otherwise "call me on it" with some nonsense about how they get all their objective and balanced propaganda from his news show now. Isn't he a big propaganda star somewhere now?

    Ugh.

Reminds me of a funny story.

I work with a bunch of moonbats. All of them voted for Obama twice, and most of them couldn't tell you why. There's one particularly snivelly moonbat who said to me, last year on the run-up to the 2012 election, that he voted for Obama in 2008 because Obama was more pro-technology than Bush.

Of course by this time Obama had all but shut down NASA, so I said, "Why do you think that, moonbat?"

Here's what the snivelly little low information voter said to me. "I voted for Obama over Bush because Obama has a better web site."

So yesterday I greeted this little weasel, when he showed up for work a half hour late, "Happy Sequestration Day, Mike!"

The moonbat looked at me with a blank stare, like some kind of half-assed zombie, and said, "What's that?"

Funny, sure. But we're doomed. Definitely doomed. If everyone like that idiot took a bullet to the back of the head, the march of human progress wouldn't stop for an instant. Yet we let the dumb fuckers VOTE.

    Sheesh.

I have talked to several people in my journeys in the last 5 years,,,not one person that voted for Oballah could give me a substantial reason for voting for him,,it ranged from,,''HE PLAYS BASKETBALL''/''HE'S BLACK''....AND YES,,,,,we let those dumb fuckers vote:mad::mad::wall::wall::wall:
