Elephants join forces to rescue baby after it fell into zoo’s pond
This tiny baby elephant has learned that diving in at the deep end isn’t always the best strategy.

Elephants are clearly the most devoted parents around – and proof comes from this dramatic clip showing the moment that protective instinct suddenly kicked in for two adults.

Footage from Grand Park Zoo in Seoul, South Korea, shows how they expertly dealt with a potential disaster when a baby slipped into a pool of water.

When the calf loses its footing and falls in, the adult elephant that had been standing next to it appears to panic – but another rushes over from the other side of the enclosure.

As the baby drifts away from the edge and towards the middle of the pool, the two adults are left with no choice but to come charging in.

Together, they run towards the shallow end of the pool and towards the calf, who is almost entirely submerged in the water.

In the face of disaster, they are able to stay calm – working together to help the younger animal.

They stood either side of the infant and dragged it up and out of the water.

Seconds later, they are seen walking out of the small lake – with the baby walking along with its two guardians, safe and sound.

So if you ever find yourself stranded in a body of water, you’d better hope there are some elephants on hand for a quick rescue mission.

You can see another elephant in a separate enclosure trying desperately to get into the action as well.

 

Here is one that will reconfirm your belief that there are still some people that know the difference between right and wrong (even though they learned it the hard way lol) and they could have easily run for the hills and let this guy die ... they were in a work detail in a park in their jailhouse striped coveralls at the time. They even removed his weapon belt/holster to get access to his chest without incident.

Six Georgia inmates have been praised for their heroism after moving fast to save the life of a guard overseeing them.

The inmates called 911 after the guard passed out on a hot day with 100 percent humidity. The collapsed officer was down and unconscious for about a minute and wasn’t really breathing at first, inmate Greg Williams said.

“When he started breathing, it was just real heavy and real fast”, Williams said.

After the corrections officer collapsed the inmates quickly opened his shirt and removed his bulletproof vest so that they could provide CPR and so that the officer wouldn’t have such thick layers to trap heat in.

EMS later arrived and provided assistance, helping the officer back to health. But the Polk County Sheriff’s Office has cheered the speedy response from the six inmates.

“They really stepped up in a time of crisis, and show that they care about my officers”, Sheriff Johnny Moats said. “That really speaks a lot about my officers too, how they treat these inmates. They treat them like people. Like family”.

The inmates were rewarded with a free lunch with desserts provided by the officer’s family members, a thank you for doing the right thing. The Sheriff’s office shared a Facebook post praising them for their actions.

But Williams says that they didn’t act quickly for a reward or for any kind of recognition. They did it simply because they felt like they needed to.

“When that happened, in my opinion, it wasn’t about who is in jail and who wasn’t”, he said. “It was about a man going down and we had to help him”.

Williams’ criminal record wasn’t made available on the Georgia state prisoner registry, an indicator that the is likely a first time offender since those records aren’t posted online.

A brilliant fifth grader from McKinney, Texas, has invented The Oasis, a small gadget that monitors the temperature inside the car.

Once it gets to a certain level, the device emits cool air while simultaneously alerting parents and authorities via an antenna.

10-year-old Bishop Curry has managed to raise over $25,000 for his invention on GoFundMe. Bishop's father says they "hope to begin production as soon as possible."

This New Water Park In Texas Was Designed For Kids With Disabilities

Morgan's Inspiration Island in San Antonio, Texas, is making sure kids with disabilities don't miss out on all the fun this summer.

Every section of the the new water park is wheelchair accessible and guests with special needs are admitted at no cost.

Other features of Morgan's Inspiration Island include waterproof RFID (radio-frequency identification) wristbands so parents can keep track of their kids, a seven-story lighthouse and a water play area called Rainbow Reef, which has water that can be warmed for guests with sensitivity to cold.

In a press release, owner Gordon Hartman said the team behind Inspiration Island consulted with water park professionals, doctors and experts in special education and special needs, as well as received input from local teachers, parents and caregivers.

The park also offers private areas for guests to transfer out of their personal wheelchairs to waterproof ones.

"We recently unveiled with the University of Pittsburgh revolutionary new wheelchairs propelled by compressed air," Gordon said. "Our guests in expensive battery-powered wheelchairs can't afford to get them wet, so we have special Morgan's Inspiration Island PneuChairs."

With help from the attractions and special features, the team at Morgan's Inspiration Island hopes to ensure all of its guests will have fun without worry.

"Morgan's Inspiration Island promises to give individuals with physical or cognitive special needs a place where they can splash and play without barriers," Gordon said.

 

Woman Goes Into Store To Pay For Parking, Wins Scratchcard Jackpot

Marilyn Scott ran into a store to break a £10 note to pay for her parking. She also bought a £2 scratch card and thought nothing of it.

"Once I'd scratched it I couldn't believe my eyes," the 27-year-old from south-west Scotland told Metro. "I had to ask a couple of my colleagues to check if it was real. When I saw it in my handbag I actually thought to myself 'I could have been sitting here all day yesterday a winner'."

Scott says she plans to use the money to go on a "trip of a lifetime."

"When my sisters and I were young, mum always used to say to us 'if I win the lottery I'll take you to Disneyland.' With the win I’m going to be able to treat her instead. It's her 60th in October so I'm planning a family trip for then."
