I saw after posting this , that the plane pancaked into the building
(essentially did a belly flop) ,
I'm wondering if the pilot purposefully pulled it into a stall ,
just before ejecting ,
to try and minimise deaths and damage on the ground ,
because it certainly didn't travel after hitting the roof.
It ended up near enough sitting on the floor under the hole it made.
Extraordinary.

Congratulations if he did.

If not , I can certainly see why he abandoned ship , because it obviously wasn't flying any more

Yeah , I saw all that , and interviews with the workers who were in the building when it crashed through.
It was a NORAD aircraft , so I guess no surprises it was armed.

As I said , amazing ,
that it stopped so short ,
and didn't burn (apparently the building sprinklers helped there) , or any ordinance explode (though I'm sure they wouldn't have been armed)

I just figure the pilot must surely have stalled it , to prevent it rocketing through the neighborhood , for it to stop that short.

Aim it for the biggest roof I can find and hope it stops

 

A NZ company has a contract to supply a Korean outfit with 150 autonomous/driverless vehicles ,

The Ohmio LIFT is a 20-person autonomous shuttle that can be extended to carry up to 40-passengers.

It runs on virtual rails , and can go anywhere a virtual rail track is laid out.


I knew we had companies working on these types of innovation , and that there were autonomous vehicles serving Christchurch airport ,
but nothing about a NZ outfit getting to this stage.

Unsurprisingly , they will be built in China ,
because we just don't have the population , industry , or raw materials to produce this type of thing in any way competitively.

But at least good old kiwi ingenuity and creativity is keeping up , what with rockets , jet packs , jet boats , America's Cup yachts ,
bunch o balloons , motorcycles , and all sorts of fun , redicilous , useful or interesting stuff

technology in it , or it may have trouble following its track , LOL )
