Every generation of Americans since 1776 has been forced to defend our freedoms. Our military has fought on every continent, in just about every country, defending our interests and those of our allies.

Now, one can argue that we have fought when it wasn't necessary; Viet Nam comes to mind, as well as most of the conflicts we have managed to embroil ourselves in in the Mideast.

That isn't the point. When one joins one of our military services they understand the deal; they may be required to fight, and die, in wars or conflicts they do not want to get involved in. It's said, the biggest pacifists are professional soldiers, you know, cause they know who gets to do the actual fighting when politicians and statesmen fail in their job.

You see, a soldier, even a French one, must follow the orders of their superior officers, even when (especially when!) they might not agree with the order, or know that to follow those orders will lead almost certainly to their death. In America, that title ultimately falls on the President; he is the commander in chief. If the President says "fight those guys over there" the military fights those guys over there. The military doesn't get a vote; they follow orders.

And they don't get paid much for it, and if they are wounded or killed they and/or their families don't get one hell of a lot.

So, why you ask, would one ever join the military?

The answer is really pretty simple; it isn't because they want to kill, or maim, or rape and plunder. It's because they understand the meaning behind those patriotic sayings, like "freedom isn't free" and "these colors don't run". They join because they believe in the freedoms we have, and understand that it is sometimes necessary to defend them from those who would take our freedoms away from us.

They understand that there is a greater good than their individual worth, and it's worth defending with their lives if it comes to that.

Murderers? No. Soldiers are not murderers.
Killers. Soldiers are killers. Their job in the end is to kill people (our enemies) and break their shit.
And God Bless them, that they are prepared to do that even if it means they are injured or die.

A murderer kills for selfish reasons, you know, like because they don't like your heritage or your race. Think of Germans killing Jews, and Japanese slaughtering innocent women and children in horrific ways. Not to gain a military objective, but because they can. Those are murderers.

Soldiers don't murder; they kill. They kill the enemy, and try to save the innocent and the civilians. They kill only to achieve a military objective, the one their commanders gave them.

And if you are indeed from France, your very existence today can be credited to the allied soldiers who stormed Normandy and bombed Germany into the stone age; the allies who freed France when Germany invaded and conquered your sorry ancestor's collective asses. The killers who risked, and in all too many cases, lost, their lives defending freedom.

So you can sit in your room, typing your spew onto the internet, and arrogantly claim that soldiers are murderers.
For all Shooter knows, you actually believe that.
And you might even think that you are showing everyone what a civilized, or intelligent, or sensitive fellow you are when you do it.
But what you are really showing is that a) you have no clue why or how you enjoy the freedoms or even the life you have and b) that in the end, you have very little right to claim those freedoms, or the life you have, because you clearly have not had to fight for them, and have no clue the sacrifices others have made so that you can enjoy them.
