  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

HBC is the oldest, not the largest. However, history shows that retailers who choose merchandise on political opinions usually lose far more than they gain.

I had my family gathered for dinner last night; 10 of us, all tolled.

We had been planning a trip to New Orleans this coming January.

After dinner, we chatted about the trip, and determined we’re all going skiing in Quebec, instead.

We’re not the only people I know having decided to do that. I’d say I’ve seen at least a dozen friends on social media publicly declare a change in travel plans in the last 2 weeks or so.

Shooter has been to New Orleans, and he's been in Quebec.
You ought to blow both off and go to Banff.
The skiing is better than Quebec, and it's cleaner than New Orleans.

The drive to Quebec is shorter. I’d have to get through Manitoba and Saskatchewan first. Nah.

      We love Quebec.

Great news, NO has been crowded with a record 11 million visitors in the last year, they need a break to rest up and restock Bourbon Street.

Mr Smith finds quite a few of the natives of Quebec quite rude. Some are quite obnoxious in fact. Certainly not a warm and friendly bunch.

Tourism is America’s second-largest export and a $1.54 trillion a year industry. The drop in international arrivals to U.S. destinations translated to $4.6 billion in lost spending and 40,000 jobs in November 2017, compared with the year before, according to research from the U.S. Travel Association. - National Post.

All international arrivals except Canada. I Hope Americans can feel the love from their closest friends.

Well I have heard a bit of talk among friends and acquaintances about passing on the U.S. for travel but it may be purely anecdotal.

The thing about anecdotes is that once you count all the stories, they become statistics.

It's definitely happening. I'd say the uptick in travel had to do with economic recovery, and that the US gas/air travel is much cheaper than ours. The tariffs, and the blanket statements of how Canada has been taking advantage of the US for years is not only inaccurate but insulting. The two economies are heavily intertwined, but not so much so that they can't be separated. We've begun taking measures to do exactly that.

Farmers Fed Up With Trump's Trade War Are Running Against Him
Iowa farmers running for office as Democrats could see their political viability rise as Trump trade wars begin to take their toll in the Hawkeye State.

During the presidential campaign candidate Trump promised easy, cost free solutions to intractable problems. Well it turns out that those solutions have costs, and when our trading partners are hurt by Trump's trade war, they are crafty enough to see to it that Trump's supporters pay the costs.

My diet is largely vegetarian, so I eat a lot of corn and soy products. Does this mean that my grocery bill will go down? If it does, I guess I have Trump to thank, but I will still vote against him in 2020.

Such an interesting subject, world trade.

For 150 years, the US rode the wave of it's emerging industrial strength, climaxing with the incredible but tangible effort during WWII. From supplying Europe pre-1941 to full bore production of more military materiel than the world had ever seen to the development of the weapon that would both end that war and prove to be the best deterrent against future world wars.

Then came the post-war era, that increased manufacturing capacity converted to the production of domestic goods of previously unknown quantities. All while continuing to build military capability, and the expansion of humanitarian support for or allies and vanquished foes alike. From the ashes of the devastated states in Europe and Asia came the eventual industrial competitors we see today, built strong by capitalism and free trade. Free trade which soon became one sided, free flow of goods to the US while restricting the flow from the US by tariffs on US goods.

Thus, trade imbalances, because while the US bought from foreign sources like a drunken sailor, the other guys were teetotallers. Our production began the move off shore, all too soon the majority of consumer goods were imported. So now we are beginning to right that ship of trade, be retaliating against closed trade with tariffs of our own, and what does the left predict, more manufacturing moving off=shore.

My only response can be, BULLSHIT, without corrective measures the movement of production off-shore would only be worse. It's going to take time, not a year or two, but a decade or two to bring the balance back to neutral, and some folks will be hurt along the way.

If you want to right the ship it may be a good idea to tie down the loose cannon.

Already did that. She's currently doing a book tour to explain how it was she got "tied down". The thing is, before she went on the tour she helped start an investigation into that Trump/Russia thingy, and if it goes as expected, she could well find herself really tied down.

But, we'll just have to wait and see.

Steel & aluminium in pnw dams were built and aluminium plants were subsidized by usa for war effort just like china does today.
The pnw aluminium plants have all been torn down.

Just the facts apex cost of production with robots will cbring back production. China sets national goals and spends accordily. 10000 containers on one ship count the jobs. We are still only 5% population. They signed tpp without america. Apples can go from yakima to london for less but now rhey compete with south america.
Lumber from canada they pay no stumpage to gov. So now 20& tarriff plus exchange rate 18-25%.
    Adds $9000 each unit

Microsoft if we eliminate h2b visa 33% will have to move to canada. Report to wa state legislature.
Investment h2b visa net worth of india capital $160.
    Employees not india gov.

Some forget others yet born. Interest rates went fro 4% to 12% . i did an earnest money to build 12 duplexes. Called local s&l for current rate with a verbal lock in 12% fit an engineers skills and tax strategy. Next day went to bank % rate bumped to 14% !! Deal dead. That is when i moved to property rehab a fast track depreciation schedule. So yea if Trump creates job loss and world economy goes back to inflation. Like early 80's .
