Anyone paying attention to the newest sensation in the pop music scene Hailee Steinfeld ???

What a cutey and talented to boot. She made her acting debut at the young age of 14 in the film True Grit and was nominated for an Oscar for it.

At 20 now, she has some "pipes" on her and although I am not really into her style, it is really good and I can see how she is popular among younger audiences.

Martin Landau, Oscar Winner for 'Ed Wood,' Dies at 89

    upload_2017-7-17_6-46-44.jpeg
Martin Landau, the all-purpose actor who showcased his versatility as a master of disguise on the Mission: Impossible TV series and as a broken-down Bela Lugosi in his Oscar-winning performance in Ed Wood, has died. He was 89.

Landau, who shot to fame by playing a homosexual henchman in Alfred Hitchcock’s 1959 classic North by Northwest, died Saturday of "unexpected complications" after a brief stay at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, his rep confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter.

After he quit CBS’ Mission: Impossible after three seasons in 1969 because of a contract dispute, Landau’s career was on the rocks until he was picked by Francis Ford Coppola to play Abe Karatz, the business partner of visionary automaker Preston Tucker (Jeff Bridges), in Tucker: The Man and His Dream (1988).

Landau received a best supporting actor nomination for that performance, then backed it up the following year with another nom for starring as Judah Rosenthal, an ophthalmologist who has his mistress (Angelica Huston) killed, in Woody Allen’s Crimes and Misdemeanors (1989).

Landau lost out on Oscar night to Kevin Kline and Denzel Washington, respectively, in those years but finally prevailed for his larger-than-life portrayal of horror-movie legend Lugosi in the biopic Ed Wood (1994), directed by Tim Burton.

Landau also starred as Commander John Koenig on the 1970s science-fiction series Space: 1999 opposite his Mission: Impossible co-star Barbara Bain, his wife from 1957 until their divorce in 1993.

A former newspaper cartoonist, Landau turned down the role of Mr. Spock on the NBC series Star Trek, which went to Leonard Nimoy (who later effectively replaced Landau on Mission: Impossible after Trek was canceled).

Landau also was an admired acting teacher who taught the craft to the likes of Jack Nicholson. And in the 1950s, he was best friends with James Dean and, for several months, the boyfriend of Marilyn Monroe. “She could be wonderful, but she was incredibly insecure, to the point she could drive you crazy,” he told The New York Times in 1988.

Landau was born in Brooklyn on June 20, 1928. At age 17, he landed a job as a cartoonist for the New York Daily News, but he turned down a promotion and quit five years later to pursue acting.

I watched the Jack Reacher: Never Go Back - Movie last night with Tom Cruise....

I dont much care for Cruise's view of the countries politics or how the world should be run but
that sure has not stopped me from liking his movies......

I am grateful that my view of the Hollywood types have not stopped me from liking the entertainment
    they produce....

the 2nd wick movie had way too much fighting and not enough plot....

and no one can take the amount of falls and hits and still keep going---
at some point it gets too unrealistic....it gets absurd...

You're suppose to suspend your reality check when the endless counts of produced by such&such company start.
Did you see the first Reacher? On DVD it explains the method of bar room fighting Cuise was taught & that all of the fighters were either his instructors or his classmates. The method is atune to Bruce Lee's statement that you do not get fancy when actually fighting as that can lead to lengthy hospital stays.
They say Wick3 will heavily involve Winston, the The Continental NY mgr. and Charon, the concierge at The Continental NY.

And you can avoid the alert problem by going back and "unwatching" any posts you made in it ... or comments within a post.

YET here you are posting in an ignored members thread, smooth move exlax LMFAO. So much for ignoring huh ??? You could have ignored (discounted) the alert ...

The John Wick series is decent but would be better if the character or the actor who plays him were believable ... not really a fan of Keanu Reeve although I did enjoy him in The Lake House with Sandra Bullock.

The Jack Reacher series is pretty good and Cruise is believable in that roll. Plus number 2 has Cobie Smulders a hot little Canadian chick.

I agree with both you and RK, I am not a fan of either of these 'stars' but like action flicks.
Have either of you seen The Hitman's Bodyguard (2017) starring Ryan Reynolds, Samuel L. Jackson, Salma Hayek & Gary Oldman?

I won't go see it initially but if I get an advanced copy of it I will gladly watch it. I have a friend that does Foley in Hollywood that sends me studio copies of some films.

I really like Gary Oldman, the rest I can tolerate lol although I would eat the peanuts out of Salma Hayak's shit she is that hot LOL.

It's due for release in Russia next month and then N America. They made a director change when Wadlow left and was replaced. They are taking their sweet ass time in Post considering it started shooting 15 months ago ... they pumped out 3 star wars films in that same time.

RK can't see your post btw, he has me on ignore ...

It's on MovieWatcher currently, like you I rarely go to see movies anymore. It's either bootleg/streaming. Saw Hayek in a film recently & didn't recognise her due to the uglies. lol.

Hmmm, I will have to google her I have her image from Dusk til Dawn and Desperato burned in my brain.

I like Ryan Reynolds but like his wife more (Blake Lively).

This poster doesn't give me a good vibe of the film ...

Game of Thrones made it's season debut last night to huge ratings including a cameo from Ed Sheeran ...

There are 13 episodes left that will be spread out over 2 seasons before it packs it in.

I still haven't seen one episode but will binge watch it one day.

    Doctor Who ???

    A woman, that's who ...

Jodie Whittaker: Doctor Who's 13th Time Lord to be a woman
    Screenshot_23.jpg
Jodie Whittaker has been announced as Doctor Who's 13th Time Lord - the first woman to be given the role.

The new Doctor's identity was revealed in a trailer broadcast at the end of the Wimbledon men's singles final.

The Broadchurch star succeeds Peter Capaldi, who took over the role in 2013 and leaves in the forthcoming Christmas special.

Whittaker, 35, said it was "overwhelming, as a feminist" to become the next Doctor.

She will make her debut on the sci-fi show when the Doctor regenerates in the Christmas special.

The Huddersfield-born star, who was a late favourite to become the Doctor, will find a familiar face for her on set - Doctor Who's new showrunner is Broadchurch creator Chris Chibnall.

Whittaker said: "I'm beyond excited to begin this epic journey - with Chris and with every Whovian on this planet.

"It's more than an honour to play the Doctor. It means remembering everyone I used to be, while stepping forward to embrace everything the Doctor stands for: hope. I can't wait."

The actress also shares another Broadchurch link with Doctor Who - co-star David Tennant was the 10th Doctor.

By Lizo Mzimba, BBC entertainment correspondent

It was always unlikely that the Doctor would continue to be white and male, especially as the BBC has committed itself to greater diversity on its programmes.

Casting the first female Doctor is something many viewers have been calling for. And strong female-led stories have been successful on the big and small screen in recent years, in films ranging from The Hunger Games and Star Wars to Wonder Woman, and in TV series like Game of Thrones.

The BBC will be hoping today's announcement will not just excite viewers, but will also demonstrate that the time travel show has firmly moved into the 21st century.

Whittaker said it felt "incredible" to take on the role, saying: "It feels completely overwhelming, as a feminist, as a woman, as an actor, as a human, as someone who wants to continually push themselves and challenge themselves, and not be boxed in by what you're told you can and can't be."

And she told fans not to be "scared" by her gender.

"Because this is a really exciting time, and Doctor Who represents everything that's exciting about change," she said, adding: "The fans have lived through so many changes, and this is only a new, different one, not a fearful one."

Whittaker said she had used the codename "Clooney" when discussing the part with her husband and agent - as actor George is "an iconic guy".
    upload_2017-7-17_19-16-2.jpeg
Peter Capaldi will bow out in this year's Christmas special, featuring David Bradley as the First Doctor

Chibnall said the 13th Doctor was always going to be a woman.

He said: "I always knew I wanted the 13th Doctor to be a woman and we're thrilled to have secured our number one choice.

"Her audition for the Doctor simply blew us all away. Jodie is an in-demand, funny, inspiring, super-smart force of nature and will bring loads of wit, strength and warmth to the role. The 13th Doctor is on her way."

Chibnall is taking over from Steven Moffat, who leaves the series at the same time as Capaldi.

Capaldi, who had said he wanted to see a woman replace him, said: "Anyone who has seen Jodie Whittaker's work will know that she is a wonderful actress of great individuality and charm.

"She has above all the huge heart to play this most special part. She's going to be a fantastic Doctor."

I just saw a commercial for a new TV program coming to NBC this fall called "The Brave" and it might appeal to flag waving Americans.

It looks to be about secret rescue missions by elite forces that go bump in the night ...

    It looks good.

I am just researching a film called "Story Of A Girl" which premiers July 23rd on Lifetime and Stars Kevin Bacon and real life daughter Sosie and directed by real life wife Kyra Sedgwick. It is a family story about how they deal with life after a "compromising video" of the daughter ends up online ...

It isn't a high budget shoot em up but it looks really good and I will definitely take it in as I am a Kevin Bacon fan ... no not because we look similar LOL.

They have been happily married since 1988 btw. Not something you hear about in Hollywood every day.

People are fucked, case in point, Ed Sheeran did a small cameo on Game of Thrones on Sunday and twitter and facebook lit up with some that thought he had no business being there even though he is a huge fan and the director thought it a good idea to put him in a shoot. Some say that it was a "stunt" (those would be the haters) and some say that it goes against "suspending reality" for an hour and believing that dragons and such do exist (those would be fans of the show).

Charlize Theron is being interviewed on Live with Kelly and Ryan right now and is it just me or should it be illegal for any one woman to be so beautiful ???

I can hardly wait to go to Atomic Blonde next weekend and they did something in that film that is unheard of, there is a 7 minute uncut action scene ...

It opens July 28th everywhere and not even I could get a studio cut of the film which is rare for me.

I put the TV on one channel and just have it on in the background and both those shows are on the same channel here. Every so often while I'm trading I have a down moment so I look over when I hear something that catches my ear.

If I put sports on I wouldn't get any work done ... I have EVERY sports feed known to mankind lol.

A chick I know won a trip to some sunny place on that show a while back
