Trump lost $34 billion in corporate revenue by cutting IRS budget by $13 billion: study

Internal Revenue Service budget cuts enacted by President Donald Trump’s administration are responsible for the loss of tens of billions of dollars in revenue, according to a new report.

A study from Indiana University Kelley School of Business found that the IRS could have collected an additional $34.3 billion or more from the country’s largest companies.

USA Today noted that the figure represents “nearly 20% of the estimated gap between what corporations paid in taxes and what they owed from 2002 through 2014.”

From USA Today:

Researchers looked at confidential IRS audit data from large, publicly-traded corporations for tax returns years 2000 through 2010. They estimated the government could have collected an additional $34.3 billion in taxes from those filings if they’d had $13.7 billion in additional resources.

And that estimate of lost revenue is potentially only a fraction of what the amount would have been if the study had included audit data from other businesses, individuals and foreign taxpayers.

Casey Schwab of the Kelley School of Business attributed the losses to a reduction in the scope of audits.

*“While the IRS appears to still target the most aggressive positions, they can’t audit as many positions within the return. They just don’t have the resources,” he explained.

Trump Inflated Worth of Scottish Properties on Financial Forms: Report

President Trump filed different numbers on financial forms for the United States and the United Kingdom regarding his Scottish golf resorts, effectively inflating their worth, HuffPost reported Tuesday.

In a 2018 U.S. filing, the president claimed that the resorts, Turnberry and Aberdeen, were together worth over $100 million. However, on balance sheets filed with the U.K. for the same period, the resorts are shown to carry a combined debt of $64.8 million. Mismatched figures again appear on his 2018 “public financial disclosure” filed with the U.S. Office of Government Ethics. There Trump claimed the properties earned him $23.8 million in income—in conflict with U.K. filings which show the resorts actually lost $6.3 million that year. Left off the forms altogether was the $199.5 million in loans Trump made to the resorts, pulling from both his trust and personal wealth.

The inconsistencies raise questions about Trump’s culpability in the disclosures. Signing a form that declares inaccurate assets equates to making a false statement, and is punishable by up to five years in prison.

See, the value of a property ($100 Million) is different than its debt ($64.8 Million).

Anyone who has ever purchased a house, or even a car, understands the difference between value and debt.

If they didn't learn that before high school, they surely had it explained when they sat down for their first loan...

Trump just got busted for inflating his golf resorts’ value by $165 million — a jailable offense

President Donald Trump appears to have misstated the value of his Scottish golf resorts by $165 million, an act which could potentially constitute a federal crime.

The controversy came to light after seemingly conflicting financial disclosure forms regarding the president’s Aberdeen and Turnberry resorts in Scotland were submitted in the U.S. and the U.K., according to a new report by HuffPost.

In the president’s 2018 U.S. filing for those resorts, he claimed that each resort was worth more than $50 million. In his balance sheets to the British government filed for the same period, Trump claimed that the resorts’ aggregate debt was greater than their assets by 47.9 million pounds, or the equivalent to $64.8 million as of Dec. 31, 2017.

Similarly, while his forms with the U.S. Office of Government Ethics claimed that the two resorts earned him $23.8 million in income, his filings for the U.K. Companies House office in Edinburgh showed them losing 4.6 million pounds, or the equivalent of $6.3 million.

As HuffPost also noted, “His U.S. disclosure statement also fails to mention $199.5 million in loans Trump has made to those resorts: $54.9 million from him personally to Trump International, Scotland in Aberdeenshire; $144.6 million from his trust to Trump Turnberry in Ayrshire.”

Knowingly lying about or omitting information on his financial disclosure forms could constitute a potential violation of the U.S. Ethics in Government Act on Trump’s part. Such a violation is punishable by as much as a year in jail. Moreover, “signing the form attesting to the untrue information constitutes making a false statement, punishable by up to five years in prison,” according to HuffPost.

Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), a nonpartisan organization which focuses on preventing public corruption, expressed concern over the apparent discrepancy to Salon.

*“The discrepancies between President Trump’s public financial disclosure and his UK filings certainly raise questions about whether or not the value of his business assets are being inflated,” Aaron Rodriguez, the press secretary for CREW, told Salon by email. “Of course, none of this would be an issue if the president had followed basic ethics norms and divested from his international business interests.”

In addition to the inherent dangers of having a president break the law with impunity, there is also the risk to the American economy, a subject that Salon discussed with Sen. Martin Heinrich, D-N.M., in 2017.

“Congress must be vigilant against the potential for President Trump to enrich himself and his family at the expense of the average American,” Heinrich told Salon regarding his report “The Costs of Corruption to the American Economy.”

He added, “The president and his family’s conflicts of interests are inexcusable and unacceptable and could depress economic output by over $1,000 per person just in one year. Not only are these practices dangerous but harmful to the economic security of American families across the country.”

He also pointed out that “the purpose of this report is to highlight the real economic impacts of President Trump’s conflicts of interest and the harm some of his business interests and financial conflicts could cause. The stakes are high, and the risks are real. It’s not just about how the president, his family and his administration benefit from these conflicts of interest — but how they could hinder economic growth in the long term.”

In addition to calling for greater transparency, Heinrich said that *“I also have been calling on congressional investigators to follow the money and believe we need to take a look at the president’s tax returns. We cannot let President Trump recklessly harm our economy over his conflicts of interest. It’s a threat to our democracy and a threat to the economic security of American families.”

Trump press secretary’s scandal-plagued career includes DUIs, cheating, and a hideous comment about a botched execution

Stephanie Grisham, who replaced Sarah Huckabee Sanders as President Donald Trump’s press secretary, has led a scandal-plagued career that has been dogged by accusations of plagiarism and cheating on expense reports, as well as two arrests for driving while under the influence.

The New York Times reports that Grisham’s resume is one that “contains red flags that most administrations might deem troubling,” and the paper then goes on to document Grisham’s multiple alleged ethical missteps that have so far cost her two different jobs.

For example, Grisham was an employee at the AAA auto club in Arizona for only one year before she left the job under a cloud of scandal after being accused of filing false claims for “travel and other expenses,” the Times reports.

Shortly afterward, Grisham lost a job at an Arizona advertising agency when she allegedly helped a startup company build a website that included “material lifted verbatim from AAA.”

She also has two separate arrests for driving while under the influence: One in 2013 and one in late 2015, when she was working on Trump’s campaign.

Another highlight from Grisham’s career came when she worked in press relations for the Arizona attorney general’s office and was forced to defend a botched execution in which a prisoner suffered for a full two hours after being administered a lethal injection.

Even though the prisoner’s attorney said that his client was “gasping and struggling to breathe” during those hours, Grisham told reporters that the man was simply “snoring,” while also describing the scene of his execution as “quite peaceful.”

The story said the properties were valued at over $1 Million, and had debt of $65 Million.
Property value and debt are two different things.
You either already know that, or are dumber than a post.

And the only place $165 Million is mentioned is in the wrong story headline rear admiral butt nugget posted, you know, to attack Trump.
And as usual, if one reads the fish wrap story there is no explanation of where the $165 Million figure comes from.

Shooter keeps forgetting though that you hate all things Trump so much that you'd sell your honor or credibility to get a dig at him.
