President Trump’s approval rating has ticked up to 47 percent in the new Harvard CAPS/Harris poll released exclusively to The Hill, a 2 point hike from last month.

Trump's approval rating was lifted in part by a 10 point climb among Hispanic voters. His approval rating rose by 6 points among Republicans and by 4 points among Democrats compared to last month’s poll. According to the same poll, Trump's approval rating reached its highest point last year, at 49 percent.

Trump's approval rating fell by 4 percentage points among independents, and 53 percent of those polled hold an unfavorable view of him.

The rising numbers appear to reflect the strong economy and the president's summit meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

Fifty-nine percent of Americans approve of the way the government is handling its relationship with North Korea, and three-quarters backed Trump’s decision to take a meeting with Kim.
“[I’m] surprised that given the misstep on immigration that the president’s approval is holding steady or even increasing on the strength of the economy and the success of North Korea," said Harvard CAPS/Harris Poll co-director Mark Penn. "He is holding his base and doing particularly well with men."

"In contrast, the Republicans in Congress seem to be more of a deer in the headlights, paralyzed and leaderless. The Democratic edge remains fairly strong even in the face of Trump improving," Penn added.

The majority of registered voters approve of Trump’s work to stimulate jobs, handle the economy and fight terrorism — the same finding from last month’s poll.

While he’s still underwater on immigration, foreign affairs and how he’s administering the government, Trump’s marks on those issues slightly improved over the past month.

The Harvard-Harris poll surveyed people on June 24 and 25, after Trump signed an executive order ending his policy of separating children from their parents who illegally crossed the border.

Some polls appeared to show that Trump had taken a hit on that issue.

A Gallup poll found Trump hitting a personal high approval rating of 45 percent the week after his June 12 summit with Kim, before falling back to 41 percent approval at the beginning of this week — after days of negative press over the family separations.

The Harvard-Harris poll was taken after news that a Virginia restaurant had refused to serve White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders. The White House has used the incident to go on the offensive, pointing to that and other incidents as a way of painting the administration's critics as uncivil.

The Harvard CAPS/Harris Poll online survey of 1,448 registered voters was conducted June 24-25. The partisan breakdown is 37 percent Democrat, 32 percent Republican, 29 percent independent and 2 percent other.

The Harvard CAPS/Harris Poll is a collaboration of the Center for American Political Studies at Harvard University and The Harris Poll. The Hill will be working with Harvard/Harris Poll throughout 2018.

Full poll results will be posted online later this week. The Harvard CAPS/Harris Poll survey is an online sample drawn from the Harris Panel and weighted to reflect known demographics. As a representative online sample, it does not report a probability confidence interval.

 

So General, what do you suppose the poll results would be if the question was;
Should American families permanently separated because of the actions of ILLEGAL immigrants get less attention and sympathy than ILLEGAL immigrant families separated at the border?

Ramos had a history of prior convictions, but due to Virginia Beach’s sanctuary policies, he was never detained. He was charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter and sentenced to 40 years in prison.

The way I understand it, the parents were fully aware that if they tried to cross the border, they would be separated from their children. They did it anyway.
I personally don't think they should separate families. Just pack them up and send them all home together.

Shootersa you are just too disgusting to even try to deal with in your own little plastic bubble. First lets talk foster care. Back when Reagan kicked off his war on drugs there was also zero tolerance remember. Any parents who got dealing or even doing drugs had their children taken away and put in foster care. And it was less than a fucking year nearly every state in the country was saying they needed to back the fuck off of that because some kids, and probably a lot of them, were being sexually,physically, mentally abused and neglected. The Foster Care system, which had never been all that good in the first place. had become a swamp of predators.

And every state in the country knew that. They had to live it everyday. And so very quietly, since it was the War On Drugs, most states reverted to what they had always done. If the children are not being abused or neglected in any way, and the only problem is drug use and/or addiction (including alcohol) the children were better off being kept in the home than to take the chance of placing kids in foster care.

OUR GOVERNMENT HAS NOW TAKEN CUSTODY OF ABOUT 3,000 CHILDREN AND THEY DON'T EVEN KNOW HOW MANY THERE ARE OR WHERE THEY ARE AT.

You guys talk about government incompetence all the time and how they can't do anything right. And you don't even give a fuck about that and talk about the very foster care you are sending those kids into.

If the "media" is making things worse than they are why doesn't the Trump administration just answer their questions and let them see and film for themselves? Never did I see any concern , nor do I see any concern for the poor homeless people that live rite here.

Could immigrant children separated from their relatives face adoption?

First, no child can be adopted before parental rights are relinquished. The Federal Government cannot do that. The Federal Government does not have a "foster care" system. They have an Office of Refugee Settlement.
Second, State agencies are not involved with providing care for ILLEGAL immigrant children. Not until the child is
a) Granted immigrant/refugee status
b) The parents rights must be terminated; voluntarily, where the parents give up their parental rights, or where it can be proven that the parents have died, or where the parent simply cannot be located after a long, long time. Then, and only then, will a child be referred to any of the many PRIVATE Government licensed placement agencies for possible, eventual, adoption.

Now, you can point to your highlighted text; Some have already been placed in foster care
but show us a single case where a child has been "ripped from the arms of its mother"and placed in foster care under Trump's administration. It hasn't happened. There hasn't been near enough time.
