If one of them is filled with FREON (437 times heavier than air) it will immediately rise to the stratosphere and make like a rocket toward the south pole, where it will explode and destroy all the ozone it will find.

That is HOLY WRIT, subscribed to by all the governments in the civilized world, and discovered by a computer genius hired by Dupont, the former manufacture of FREON, who's patent was about to expire, and wanted no sharing of the greed resulting from its manufacture.

Liquid freon or gasious freon??

 

Freon 12 and Freon 11 and Freon XX )(I forgot, believe that, its been 15 years and was my principal life's work) are all gaseous at room temperature, where you contemplating filling the balloons? You probably would be uncomfortable with the presssure required to liquefy them.

I really can't see how anybody with any intelligence can believe that freon at ground level in the Northern hemisphere can magically appear near the South pole in the stratosphere. And oh yeah, it didn't get used up destroying ozone on the way, either. Freon is known to be and for its use HAS TO BE a very stable compound.

It's Mt. Erebus that is the source of the Chlorine, but that is not politically correct, so it is NEVER mentioned.

 

Freon 11 is actually a liquid at room temperature but extremely volatile. It is stored in regular 55 gallon drums. You can pour some in a beaker and just the heat of your hand will cause it to boil.

Oh yeah wasn't it the hydrocarbons that caused the hole in the ozone layer 30 years ago when the automakers added catalityc converters. In the early 90s they ran a study and decided that they were wrong but never published that info. This left the door open to blame another perfectly useful compound.

I am sure that you will find that the hole in the ozone was already there. it was just that about this time they were able to measure it.... and some one said "OH my god there is a hole in the Ozone up there what will it do" and the reply came.. "I am sure it will let more sun in.. and maybe melt the north pole for that is where they said it was"

MY OPINION and I do have some backing.. The ozone hole is natural, the basic air flow in our troposphere right up to the stratosphere,, is the air flows from the north pole, over the ground (deflected by th corilios effect) toward the equator where it is heated by the more direct sun rays.. as we all know hot air rises. The hot air rises to a point of equilibram (expansion from less preasure) begins to cool and at high altitude streams back toward the poles.. where it decendes to start the trip again.. Why does it decend there.. well that is the axis of the spinning earth, it has become cold and heavy and begins to fall..

This falling air creates a almost consdtant 200 mph wind at the south pole. not as strong at the north.. those bubbles of cold air burst out across canada, and in the winter make it all the way to Florida before it looses it force. and wanders back up toward the north east.
