The worst was how other people in your house could pick up another landline phone and ease drop on your conversation. My mom caught me kinda naughty tlking with a boy once that way.

Moon boots were very fashionable, not a poor thing at all. Unless it was after the trend was over - that makes sense then.

I was a 2nd shift lead at work with a pager and hated it becuse it was voice only and you could only hear "Ple** C*ll 6*** again that is **2* (* = static) if you were lucky to hear that much and there was not too much ambiant noice around you. We were all happy when it went to digital where you could enter the number to call!

 

We all just thought we were so important with a pager. Haha

 

My husband had one for work for a bit.

How long did it take you to figure out that if you let it run for a few minutes before drinking, it won't be hot?

 

Crazy thing is that we actually loved playing outside and we found things to do.

I had a easy bake oven. Those cakes and stuff tasted horrible.

 

You can also get GPS on your phone.

 

Those old gps systems would totally lie to you sometimes.

 

I've played with Google maps, and it can locate me within my apartment walking from one side to the other.

 

I have a laser disc player and about 200 movies for it, if you're interested.

 

Well hey, I've got some porno tapes for a Beta player. We should get together and watch them.

 

I still got a 90s era VHS for watching old porn vids.

 

Dialing "O" or 411 (Directory Assistance in the U.S.) and having a real person answer.

 

It amazes me how many phones have the same ring tones. On the train, one rings and ten people look at their phones! Everyone just uses the defaults.

 

Mine sounds like the old-timey ring. The looks I get are hilarious.

You could say that about almost any service now. Hell, even 15 years ago, working on printing, any software support that I needed sent through some automated system. "Press 1 to speak with someone in networking, press 2 for...", and when they finally did answer, "Hi, my name is Bob, how can I assist you today.", in a thick Indian accent!

 

One of our members used to write the software to "press 1 for english, 2 for..."

 

We just got one to pick up digital air broadcast when we’re away from th dock.

 

We had to have cable because the mountain blocked reception of local channels. The people across the street got local channels without cable.

 

We had to have cable cause local channels would go in and out too.

 

Floppy disks, my dad, and computers, bad mojo just rememdering this, he would call me to come help him, He wouldn't turn over the mouse or keyboard, he would say "how am I gonna learn". Once I figured out what he was trying to do, and tell him click on this, or that, he wouldn't do it, then demand to know why it didn't work. Tell him because you didn't do what I told you, he'd say"well I wanted to see what that would do". God forbid I say something like " and now you know it don't work" . The disrespect, this would go on an hour, two hours, seemed forever.
But to the point I started this unhappy memory on, at one point he got a new computer, you would think someone ran over his dog, burned his car, stole all his money, it didn't have a floppy disk drive. If that weren't enough, he had windows 95, the new one was vista, he was so mad, it didn't work the same, he had to learn it all over, it sat for at least a month.

 

Mom got him a floppy disk drive that plugged into a usb port, that got him back on it. And the phone calls started all over. I still have the portable floppy drive, collecting dust in a box.

 

The stupid mouse that you had to toggle with on the little mouse pad home.

 

When I got my first photo editing software, Nina bought me one of those stylus mouse pens. Said you could use it like a pen to write or draw on an image.
It was worthless.

 

Never buy version 1.0 of anything. Those pens became much better! I used one at my job in the early 2000's and they were pretty good. It did take some getting used to and adjustment of the controls.

 

Ooo! That reminded me of Walkmen! Walkmans?

 

and giant boom boxes that took 16 D cell batteries. It's funny when you think the "tiny" Walkman was popular at the same time the billboard sized boom boxes were.
It's like today with movies. You can watch them on a 6 inch phone screen or a 65 inch TV screen.

 

Oh yeah. Just reminded me of movie Breakin when you said boombox.

Now we just get up to find the remote in order to change the channel.

 

When I can't find the remote, I just look for the cat. He's usually sitting on it.

 

We will look for the remote forever flipping out! Have you seen the remote? Have you?

 

You should be able to use your phone as the remote. We have an app for each of our TV's

 

Yep, no more stressing over finding the remote. But I still will for some reason.
