Its all hardly surprising .
All societies develope fairly similar rules for survival and order , going back to cavemen drawing on walls.
Patriarchal or matriarchal , they all end up with head honchos , or honchoess's , and they always end up editing the rules and stories and history to suit themselves.

like much , including pornography , nothing's new , so why would the stories in the bible have been something new ?

What was he really like?
Let's suppose for a minute.

Suppose you knew from birth what your purpose was. Suppose you knew everything, literally. All knowledge.
Suppose you had a limited amount of time to teach your children important lessons, life and death stuff.
Suppose you had to suffer like no one ever had before or would again, unimaginable and unbelievable suffering.
Suppose that you loved mankind but knew that they were doomed for eternal damnation. That you had the weight of all humanity on your shoulders and the only way that you could give them the chance for salvation was by sacrificing your own life, and you knew all this since you were just a young boy.

What kind of man do you suppose that you would be?

 

The church has hood winked billions over the years. There are gospels not included in the bible. Most notable Judas and Mary Magadalene.
Some scholars belive that Jesus and Mary Magadalene were marred.
I am a Baptist, I know Jesus was not an only child.
I don't know for sure if he WAS the son of God or not. That is something you will have to decide for yourself. Until it can be proven I'll take it that he is/was on faith.

I do not believe in Jesus Christ or some "son of God". I think that Jesus Christ is a fiction, not a real person. Even if Jesus Christ was a real person I do not believe in Bible's stories about the "son of God".

 

The oldest known written language and the oldest known civilization, I believe but don't truly know, was that of the Indus Valley. My reading supports the preposition that our modern religious stories can be found to originate with their writings. I do believe we are not sufficiently civilized to live comfortably without something to explain the unexplained -- RELIGION. (How come there is gravity? The gods use it to keep us less holy people out of their world.) As we better understand life (our universe) our need for religion will dissipate. Was there a Jesus? Today's interpretation of what little we know suggests there was such a man. But, the same interpretation suggests there was nothing unique to Jesus.

 

True, good point. But I am thinking the stories might have lived two thousand years ago in oral traditions and legends. (All legends have an origin.)

Many Biblical stories are probably bogus. For instance the Exodus. No archaelogical record. Probably didn't happen when/where described, if at all. Yet the Flood likely did happen at some point, and whatever evidence exists suggests that if it did happen, the event had to have been thousands of years before the Jews wrote it down. Maybe before civilization, at the close of an Ice Age... something like that.

This Horus Mythology is remarkable in its parallels to the Gospels as we know them, which of course were recorded anywhere from decades to hundreds of years after Christ supposedly died, and were amended/revised regularly throughout the Dark Ages and Middle Ages.
