My dad was a drug dealer, he did not approve of law enforcement at all.
I know some people that hate law enforcement for no good reason.
I know ..a few people, a slim few, that actually approve of law enforcement.
What do yall think? and why.

 

I think it depends on the cop. I've known several cops that were on a power trip and thought they were above the law and that I cannot stand. I've known others that were on the up and up. They did their jobs and didn't abuse the power and helped as much as they could.

 

I'd think saying I hate 90% of them would be a safe statistic

There is this commercial for cops where the cop says "Its the best job in the world, where else can you go 60mph down the wrong way of a highway?" (or something like that) I just think that is totally the wrong attitude to have.

That... and as long as they don't happen to be behind me in traffic. It freaks me out to see them in the mirror and it makes me nervous as I drive, worrying about whether I am doing everything right! LMAO

 

Well I am currently getting a degree in criminal justice and once I exit the military I am wanting to become a cop in Austin, TX. I do know that their are a lot of cops that abuse their power I see the same thing in the military. That ticks me off but as law enforcement in general I support it I just hate power tripping cops as getmehot said.

 

While I was being detained, one cop started talking to the other very jealously about a third cop who had only been a cop for 2 weeks and he had already got to give out a DUI. I flipped out on him and told him it was assholes like him that got off on ruining other peoples lives that made people hate cops. I had a few more run-ins with this guy later, he harassed the shit out of me but couldn’t make anything stick.


I have 576843214 similar stories, neko's story reminded me of this one though.

 

Here is another dickhead cop story. When I was visiting my home town I hooked up with this chick that had been off and on with a cop for quite a while so not only did he spread it around town that I was only back in town to sell drugs, he detailed his fabrication in a letter to her in which he proceeded to tell her what a whore she was. I couldn’t convince her to give me the letter.

 

There was also the time I was followed for 5 blocks at night by a cop with no lights on. Later he said it was because I had made a rolling stop at a four way stop sign with no one around at 3 am (it was a lie, I was very care of my stop.) Anyway when I get out of my car at my friends house I see the cop for the first time pull up behind me (still no lights, not even parking lights on.) So I walk behind the garage and when I was out of sight I took off running into a wooded area and then jumped over a neighbors fence and crawled into the back of a truck to chill out for what had to of been 45 minutes. Supposedly he yelled stop as I was walking behind the garage so that’s how he justified the attempting to evade charge. After a very long time of waiting a cop without a warrant came inside the fenced in area just looking around and stumbled upon me. When he cuffed me (the wrong way so it hurts) he called over his walkie talkie and every fucking cop on duty in that small town came out of the woodwork on foot to circle in on the area. It was said that until they found me they had no signs that I was under the influence they sent out the cavalry to find a rolling stopper that walked behind a garage.

Oh yeah did I mention that any time anyone else in my family ever drove my car in that town they were continuously followed.

 

How I got on the bad list in this town:

This whore who called the police chief daddy was at a party with us and she called her home to try to say she was going to spend the night with her cousin, but the bimbo fucked it up and after being pressured told them where she was. So the police chief, his whore of a wife (no joke both these ladies would regularly get drunk, piss in public, fight, and fuck around) and another police officer burst into the party with no warrant. There are all kinds of drugs and underage drinking all over the place and they take down the names of everyone there. They can’t bust anyone because they aren’t supposed to be there but they round everyone up like they still had some kind of authority, we were a bunch of fucked up kids we should have told them to fuck off and then sued.

This was the beginning of my harassment there. I have been harassed in other cities but none as bad as this one.

 

Everyone hates cops until they need one.

I find it rather ironic though that you say your dad hated cops OP, but that he was also a drug dealer. If I made my living breaking the law, I'd hate cops too.

And Perv, I can understand your frustration if you're being harassed by cops, but why would you yell at them for pulling over people who are under the influence? By pulling over that guy, he could have saved someone's life. If cops are stepping outside their authority then yes, throw the book at them, but if they're stopping drunk drivers I cheer them on.

Ok this one isn’t necessarily about cops being dickheads but a bit of payback:

My buddy ran into a car full of Mexicans. The Mexicans were obviously illegal and didn’t want any cops around even though my friend T boned them. So as we all quickly decide to go our separate was some fucking Johnny can’t mind his own god damned business follows us, obviously with the cops on the cell. We are racing up and down streets, trying to do quick turn arounds, going off road, some pretty dangerous shit trying to get away from a guy that if we had thought about it we should have just got out and kicked his ass, but we didn’t know how long it would take the cops to get there. So the cops finally close in on us, and take my friend to jail. They did do one dickhead thing to me I almost forgot about. I had flipped the cuffs in front of me while I was in the back of the cop car so I could use the phone. They forced me to put the cuffs back behind my back for their amusement without undoing them. So they were going to drop me off in the custody of military police because they really had nothing on me. I had a TV in the back of the truck I told them they had to take it with me otherwise it would obviously be stolen. So they put the TV in the trunk of the car I was in, and put the police files that were in the trunk in back seat with me. While back there I took a stack of about three inches worth of documents and hid them inside my coat. Once in MP custody, I went to the bathroom and threw all the documents away.

I wish I would have kept them to see what it was but I didn’t want to get caught with them.

 

I have been in countless wrecks and only one of those was while under the influence and that was a minor one car accident. From 16-21 I drove exponentially more fucked up than I did sober and have driven under the influence regularly ever since. The law needs to be based on individual ability and not a flat number for everyone when people have such drastically different lifestyles. I’m positive I can drive better drunk than some others on the road completely sober.

 

I think we are actually living in a police state where law enforcement has long abandoned the role to protect and serve the public and instead have become an entity against the public or at least certain segements of it.

I believe the first decision the police officer on the street makes before stopping someone is: "Does this person appear to have enough money to hire a lawyer?" If not they stop them.

 

AHH I reread this and think I know more what you are talking about now. In the original post I made I wasn’t upset because a cop had given a guy a dui, but because the other cop was jealous of him for getting that opportunity.

And I will give you an honest opinion, instead of one that is based on some whiney bitch who is just mad because the cops ruin his fun.

Most police officers are good people. They are out there to protect our families and our communties from criminals and people who wish to do us harm. A very small percentage, though, do have bad attitudes and will abuse their power.

And I speak from real experience, as my ex was a cop AND an MP. Needless to say, I know a lot of cops. And they are good people.

In my experience, most people who hate cops are people who have gotten busted doing something wrong, and in the process got beligerant, and the officer had to come down on them. But then it becomes "the cop was an asshole!"

Well...the cop I dated for a short while ended up being an asshole...I wanted to dump my lunch on his head while we were in a restaurant, but I was afraid he would arrest me...looking back on it, it would've been worth it.

Oh, my cop turned out to be an asshole too, but it had nothing to do with his job. When on the job, he was "the job". He took his job very seriously, and was very cordial with the public unless they gave him reasons not to.

His asshole-ness toward me was something totally different. But an ass nonethless.

 

Laws are made for common good of large no. of people-one should try to follow, atleast not by supporting those who break them
