Hi all ... I've mentioned in some of my scribbling on here .. That music to me through out my life has played a big part both at the time and now in my memories..


May 1979 ...... ELO ...Midnight Blue ... This song was playing as I proposed to my fiancé (for the third time ) just after it was discovered she had bone cancer (it still mean's a great deal to me I'm guessing it always will) She excepted my proposal once more but stated then she would not marry me until she was cured... Sadly the cure never came and she moved on to the clearing at the end of her path in June of 84.. I'd made her many promise's during our time together ( Not one of them have i ever broken to date ) I 'Love & Hate' this song in equal amount's ..


If I'm ever alone and feeling depressed i play it and the good memories of times passed without fail pick me up...


If I'm feeling great and having a good time when this comes on the radio.. I mentally crash feeling tear's only second's away .. Janet was a lovely lady she did not deserve all the pain she went through, I'd have given every i had and the rest of my life if that would have saved her...


Any how folk's sorry if that was a downer ... Has anyone here got any songs that evoke strong memories and emotional responses when you hear them ...

 

Music is the one and only universal language and you don't need to speak it to enjoy it ...

(Mama's got a) Squeeze Box by The Who has always stayed in my mind since I was barely a teen. It was playing the first time I "seriously" made out with a girl.

I could literally go on for pages about all of the songs that evoke memories but they are my private thoughts.

Yep i agree about the universal language ... and also about private thought's .... i just find it intresting at times how one song can evoke many diffrent view's amongst a group of people souly because of there personal memories and lives they are living through

 

Our fight song is You've Got Another Thing Coming and if you see me take one earbud out while listening to it someone's day is about to go from bad to really bad .

Most of my formative life I avoided music in that it confused me, not really understanding the concept of it. However, once music became a constant in my life one set I used to dance to regularly helped me seem very into the music yet in reality blot out everything else and feel alone (which then meant a lot to me needing the break and solitude in a crowd). That set though musically very out of date when I used it was comprised of AC/DC ~ Thunderstruck, Led Zeppelin's ~ When the Levee Breaks and then Dazed and Confused in that order. Though it's hard to explain, it allowed me to feel as though I could go sit down in my own mind while the external me did what I had to do.

It must have worked in that I cannot count the times that some customer would tip big and say "I could tell from the way you were looking at me that you did that song for me!"

I was just looking for a video to post to make a point in another thread and scrolled down and saw Jigsaw - Sky High and as I am listening to it my mind just went into rewind and there are some songs that are so important or influential in people's lives that they virtually take you back to that time as that song just did.

Ricky Don't Lose That Number by Steely Dan is another one and I remember hearing it for the first time as a kid when I took my first gf to the fair and rode the Matterhorn while this song was playing and she was being pressed into me while sitting between my legs, I was in heaven lol.

Keep On Loving You from REO Speedwagon is another one. We were listening to it while I was driving a gf home and the cunt broke up with me while that song that I love was playing. I stopped the car about a mile from her house and kicked her sorry ass out of the car, cranked the stereo and left a 100 foot patch of rubber on the road LOL.

 

Yes Ive got several REO SpeedyWagons on my list as well ..... I hope your X gf didnt rune that song for you totaly ...

Fuck no, I still love that song today and more than ever and sing it to my sweety sometimes. Have you ever seen a puppy cover their ears when they hear a high pitched sound ... that is what she tries not to do LOL.

I mentioned the breakup thing on that song page on YT and to date it has over 200 likes lol.
