It seems the violence among the youth of the US is growing. Friday another school shooting, where a young man went into a school, critically shot a young lady and minor injuries to another student, before taking his own life. Today in Boston, there is a bomb threat at Harvard. Even in the small rural area in which I live, a teen shot and killed another teen.

What do you think is getting into these kids?


I am a supporter of guns rights. Guns do not kill, people do. If guns were taken, people would use what ever they could to kill or injure others, if that is what they want to do.

 

I do not support taking guns away but the theory about if they took the guns other weapons would do the same thing is flawed. A single shooter can pop off 90 rounds with lethal consequences in seconds but he would not be able to do wholesale damage with a club or knife.

But on guns. Can't you see that having less guns makes it a whole lot more difficult for would-be killers to kill people. What you said is true. Taking guns away will never stop murders. But I think it would drastically reduce them

Sort of hard for anyone to expect anything less of the kids nowdays.
It is against the law to punish them.
Most parents have given up on trying to teach them right from wrong, if the parents even know the difference.
Also this country is getting too crowded. Anyone who has raised any type of animals can tell you what will happen when you over crowd them.

 

Yet the casualties in Boston (three dead) weren't as high as the school bombing that killed 26. And we are not really talking bombs here. There will always be those bent on killing but scale is what we are discussing.

 

The deadliest school attack was done with explosives. Andrew Kehoe used dynamite to kill 36 schoolchildren and two teachers in Bath Michigan.

It was and still is to this day the deadliest school mass killing ever in the United States......

The stats on adult violence is way worse. Think that might be a factor? It's learned behavior for most kids. Few people are born "bad".

Absolutely not. There is nothing funny about people loosing their lives. I was only making a point that when people want to kill, they don't have to always use guns.

I agree that Teen violence doesn't compare with adult violence. My point was that these are kids, too young to die, and to young to kill. They have their whole life in front of them, what pushes them to the point to take a life of another person? I have heard people blame TV, violent video games, and many other excuses. I am sure my opinion will not be favorable, but my blame goes back to the parents, as posted earlier, and society.

The demand for money and success in todays society has encouraged parents to forget their responsibilities as a parent to teach their children right and wrong. They are more interested in making money and achieving success. I am not saying every one fits into this category but I think more than half do. Yes there is violence on TV and in video games, but it is the parents responsibility to explain to their children that it isnt real, and when you shoot someone in real life, they are not going to show up a while later on another show. Funny? not no but hell no. There was a lot of damage from the crock pot/pressure cooker/heating device
