The disempowered left now faces its own kinds of hoaxes and fables.



My conversation with Binkowski, edited for clarity and readability, follows below.

Robinson Meyer: First things first. Have you been seeing more fake news or hoaxes aimed at the left lately?

Brooke Binkowski: Yes, there has been more coming from the left. A lot of dubious news, a lot of wishful thinking-type stuff.


There will always be a subset of people who reject it. I think 10 percent of the population either way. But I really do believe that humanity, although we may destroy ourselves—I really do have a lot of faith in us as a species.

Meyer: That ties to another thread in the left wishful thinking, which is the fake Twitter account from the government insiders who are rebelling against Trump. The most-followed example is @RoguePOTUSStaff.

Binkowski: Isn’t that a fun read? It’s gotta be BS, but it’s such a fun read. I’ve messaged them several times at this point, saying, “I don’t want to know who you are, but can you at least prove that what you’re saying is true somehow? We can use the encryption tool of your choice—I don’t care who you are, as long as you are who you say you are.” They’ve never replied, but they haven’t blocked me like they’ve blocked some of our writers.

Meyer: Is there any other kind of fake news that you’re regularly seeing?

Binkowski: I think we’ve temporarily lost our ability to enjoy satire in the United States. There’s a few satire stories that have made their way to us. I mean, most people usually mistake satire for real stories, but now it’s really bad. I think the left has collectively completely lost its sense of humor for now—although, I mean, the left maybe never had one in the beginning.

I just edited a story an hour ago about how Trump allegedly replaced a portrait of George Washington with a picture of a character from Ghostbusters 2. People are like, Is this true? Is this actually true!? No, it’s not. It’s supposed to be satire.

Meyer: It is funny to me that, just a few months after attributing the election result in part to conservative-leaning fake news, there has been a surge of it among the party that’s newly out of power.

MORE FAKE NEWS FROM CNN: Desperate Crap Channel Says Hannity Pulled A GUN On Juan Williams

What does CNN hate? They hate Conservatives. They hate guns. And (presumably) they hate that they’re getting their butts handed to them in ratings.

Overall, Fox News had 13 of the top 15 programs in cable news.

MSNBC’s “The Rachael Maddow Show” and “The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell” were the only non-Fox programs to break the top 15, finishing seventh and 13th, respectively.

Notice anyone missing from that list? Yup. That ‘most trusted name in news’. Maybe they’ll blame ‘white lash’.

So how surprised should we be when someone from CNN is blasting Hannity for a crime he didn’t commit?

Yes. Hannity is accused of a crime. A gun crime. Quick, call the police.


Dylan Byers, one of the media writers at CNN who works for media industry defender Brian Stelter, printed a story on Thursday alleging: “Last year, after ending one of his many spirited on-air arguments with liberal contributor Juan Williams, Hannity pulled out a gun and pointed it directly at Williams.” Byers cited “three sources with knowledge of the incident” to make the claim.

“He even turned on the laser sight, causing a red dot to bob around on Williams’ body,” Byers wrote, adding in parentheses: “Hannity was just showing off, the sources said, but the unforeseen off-camera antic clearly disturbed Williams and others on set.”

Byers added in the next paragraph that the alleged incident was investigated, and it was determined nothing bad happened.

There’s only one problem with that story. It’s a lie.

 

So let me get this straight, Donna Brazile intentionally lied about a extremely serious matter. A lie that had the capacity to rig a presidential election. Wow pretty serious stuff.

Yet not one of our "so called intelligent" liberal democrat posters cared enough to point that out. Yet they pointed out Mr Smith changed his mind about participating in this forum, not just once did they accuse Mr Smith of lying but more times than I care to count.

Mr Smith decided to contribute further here in hopes of providing the real facts, with all the fake news being presented here he felt it would be a public service.

There was no basis to these rumors. Nobody was able to confirm them at the time, and nobody has been able to confirm in the three months since Trump was elected.

Only news I believe any more is sports and weather, and you can't always belive the weather.

 

Fake news is old news..... not that it's a good thing but it isn't anything new. We used to call it propaganda or reefer madness.

Every faction tries to use it and one isn't any better than the other. Reject it all because it's all scripted, burn a joint, watch some porn, violate the little woman and go eat some fast food. Nothing to see here folks, move along.

That was the rebuttal to reports that one of Trumps's highest Generals made assurances to Britain that the involvement in fake news wire tapping was said out of turn (also known as a Randyism LOL) by the President and will not be repeated. This is after London called someone in the Trump administration to explain themselves for defaming them.

Oh btw the General did infact make that apology.
