Every one of my guesses was wrong. I've been at this for a while. Some people have a recognizeable style. Ronin's entry seemed like his work, but there are others here who've dabbled with very dark subject matter, so I wasn't sure. The quality of every single piece made it hard to tell vets from newbs.

Good job, gang!

 

Yeah! My first place choice won - although I never guessed the author. I did have horse pegged for I am Satan.

Congrats to all - especially the newer authors. This was really a wonderful CAW.

The right story won, it was definitely the best by a long way.

I note that ahorsewithnoname also entered more than one story, though they were on similar subjects (if very different stories). When making multiple entries in a competition I'm careful to make the entries as different as possible to as to not split my own vote.

 

You had me fooled. I didn't recognize your style, since I don't know it, but all three of your entries were different enough I assumed they were by different writers.

Pretty good showing for a newb, newb!

 

Well done Black Ronin, I did think your story would be the winner. Well done once again though to all the entrants - the standard was very high indeed. It was also nice to see some new entrants not only taking part, but producing stories of such calibre. I tried to give as much constructive criticism as I could, and I hope no-one was offended by any of my comments.

Salutations all round - to UncleB for running an excellent compy, to all the writers and all the readers and voters.

 

Jayney, I was convinced Whtechapel was yours. It was so detailed, even without the English spelling (because I thought you were smart enough to fool us). Please tell me you're working on something.

 

When I read Whitechapel, I had a short list of suspects. While BR was certainly one, I too thought Jayney wrote it. Kinda disappointed to learn the "hottest" writer on the forum didn't enter.

I have several stories part-written, but getting the time and dedication to sit and finish them proves difficult. There were two ideas that occurred to me for this CAW, ironically one set around Jack The Ripper, the other featuring Boudica.

I miss entering the compys, I must try harder next time.

 

I would like to thank all the writers for their hard work in entering this contest.As usual my time here spent reading these tales is very enjoyable. Picking my favorites from this particular contest was the hardest choice I had so far for any of the contests. I would like to thank Uncle B. for picking this topic because I have always had an interest in history. New writers entering these contests also add to the fun of trying to figure out who wrote what contribution. I am looking forward to the next CAW.

I have swept the place out, thrown away my empty bottles, (hundreds of them!) and left the window open to air it out for BlackRonin.

I really can't stress enough how much I appreciate all of this cycles entries! Sure I liked some better than others, but unlike previous competitions, there were NONE that I didn't enjoy reading. You guys rock!

I don't suppose knowing that I just came inside from shoveling snow at zero degrees F, with a wind chill of -15 degrees F, would make you feel at all guilty enough to write, knowing that something new from you would warm my soul, would it?

 

(breaths a sigh of relief) didn't think I'd win but glad I helped throw everyone off with my bad writing lol congrats to Ronin you deserved it, as I said before my writing is just getting to where I like what I am writing (after I kick this damned writer's block). I know I couldn't have done half as good as uncle I am still too much a newb to tackle what he did. I hope I can write in the next though not sure as I said got the block going on wrote 4 paragraphs in a week not like me, to ahorse and stex congrats also keep up the good work.

 

Hey, Pars - your writing isn't bad at all. I enjoyed your story, as did a lot of others judging by the comments (even garnering faint praise from Clarise). Entering these compys is a good way to get people to read your work, and to get all-important feedback which will help you to improve.

I hope to see an entry from you next time, and I shall look forward to seeing your writing progress and evolve.
