What happened to everyone dropping the ''he said, she said'' and playing nicely?

You ALL are only causing more and more people to either leave or choose a side when they are only here for porn and pornminded kindred spirits to write, perv and chat with.

It is going to end up a civil war that noone wants to start and noone will be man enough to finish by standing up and saying sorry.

You know, I hate to break this bad boy out but harsh times call for harsh measures....

Please correct me if I am wrong, but from what I've seen you can not rate a forum thread without being logged in.

I learned very quickly that on the story side of the site that a story can be quickly voted down anonymously and there is nothing that can be done about it. You simply have to accept that it can happen. Even knowing that it can happen it is still very frustrating when it does.

One of the reasons I moved over to the forums side is that there seems to be more control over what happens.

So if you have to be logged in to rate a thread isn't possible for the moderators to see who may be intentionally down voting a story? If someone is doing that I would hope the moderators would act on such behavior.

With almost every story that has been submitted having a 5 star rating. I have to believe that when Miss Rachael's story was only showing 3 stars it was deliberately voted down.

I know the thread rating has no input in the final outcome of the competition. Hopefully the way the poll is done prevents the down voting and all submissions get a fair vote.

You assume powers I'm not sure the mods have, and anyway, voting something down, even maliciously, is not a banning-level offense, just childish, shitty, spiteful behavior. Sometimes, we act civilized here.

I'm not assuming the moderators have that ability. I simply asked if they do. Obviously there is a database within the site that records who voted on a thread since it will tell you if you've already rated a thread. I think it is reasonable to assume that what you rated that thread is also recorded. Someone at some level has access to that database.

I'm also not implying that down voting is a banning level offense. If such behavior is observed and the person identified, I would hope that they would be issued a warning of some kind. If it continued then perhaps multiple occurrences should be cause them to be banned.

 

Twenty-one-derful stories and holding.

 

The stars are just window dressing and not a story vote. They are simply a rating of a thread. A lot of non-story threads get rating stars. You can choose to rate a thread or not... as you want. Why would anyone be banned for rating a thread? It's simply an opinion and hardly anyone pays attention.

 

Not that I feel voting down a story is a good thing, but, you can't ban someone even if they vote 80% of the stories down to one star. Why?

Because it is just their opinion that the 80% suck. Kinda' hard to ban someone for their opinion.

 

I'd also point out my last quick count there were 5 CAW SS entires at 4 stars, and 1 at 3 stars. And the one at 3 stars belongs to PP.

 

I just counted 3 with 4 and one with three and put in my five-star ratings to try and pump them up. I am asking everyone to rate those stories upward, leave your comments and support those writers efforts.

 

I am the last person in the world to think a person should be banned for voicing their opinion. I am a firm believer in protecting freedom of speech for anyone, not just people in the U.S.A.

I am suggesting that cases where it is obvious that someone is down voting for other purposes that it should not be considered acceptable.

Let this serve as official notice. I am withdrawing my entry to the CAW SS - Cabin in the Woods. I will not take part in this or have anything to do with CAW 17. ELP, you've gone too far. And if you expect to be given the CAW SOP password, you are sadly mistaken. Your little entry to this challenge was a shit-starting slap in the face to a fellow member. By my calculations your now 22 entry SS is back to 21.

I am sorry to see you withdraw your story from the CAW SS, but I do fully understand why you choose to do so; once again I am publicly stating that, if by some chance the voters decide my entry is worthy of the win, I will not, repeat NOT, co-host CAW 17!!!

Right now I am seriously debating, after the unofficial KAW is concluded, about even bothering with future CAWs.

On the story of BRUTE FORCE, as a story it was amusing and enjoyable, but I do have to agree with others: this was a slap across the face at a forum member that I highly respect for their writing ability.

If you did this as a jest, then it failed and failed miserably.

Allow me to apologize to the forum.

About two weeks ago when this mess started, I stated publicly that I would not compete in the SS, although eligible, may not enter future competitions.

The saner head of ejls prevailed in the course of some communications. She made me realize that refusing to participate in the SS was something of a slap in the face to my fellow writers. As we all know, the entire Writers' Challenge idea on this forum was her idea. Writing together as a group can help us improve. Competition is fun and exciting. Former CAW winners should participate.

So I wrote.

Now, I feel that our sole SS host has gone entirely too far in trying to stir up the war some of us, including me, tried to stop. CONTROLLING the thing, trying to be clever, and insisting on having the last word apparently is more important to this host that running a fun writing competition.

I'm done with cheap shots.
