There is a psychosis associated with multiple online personalities and as with most mental illness, it is a spectrum. On the mild end, are people who created alternative user accounts for humor. I know a guy who created an account for his scrotum. The scrotum mostly complained about lack of work, or demanding hazard pay, when it did have work. One person created an account for a sock, and the AV was a face drawn on the sock. The sock's name was Edgar and he was mailed to various people who who update the AV with a pic of Edgar in front of a local land mark. All great fun.

The other end if the spectrum is rare, but frequent enough to form a recognizable pattern. The sock creates a complete persona, for the express purpose of gaining trust, and information. This can be for revenge, or just malicious trouble making.

In between are all the people who are too timid to say what they really feel, and so create a new name to spout their repressed wisdom.

Mixed up in this crowd are the men and women who enjoy forum flirting and romance so much, they create extra names in order to reduce jealous spats when flirting with more than one person. Men always get exposed for this and always for the same reason, which is, women talk about men. Not do they talk about them, they share what the men say in private. Very few men have the creativity to write new stuff for different women. This in itself is not so bad, but if a woman tells her friend about this large animal veterinarian she just met, it's off that her friend is also chatting with a LAV of a different name. Woe to the man who uses the same poem for different women and just changes the name.

I've never seen the need for a second name. I use the same name on all forums. Why spread this kind of magnificence over other names?

As a mod on other forums, I've had to listen to all the complaints. I've seen it all.

A lot of socks are created after the user is put on ignore by so many people, they no longer get the response they want.

 

I can think of more than a few people on here who can't possibly have a shred of decency in them, let alone a "nice" account.

There are so many socks on here its unreal .How do they do it ? Do they keep a notebook with all the passwords in for seperate accounts ? It is hilarious how they troll people though making it VERY obvious who they are .

 

Yeah, I have seen this too! Sometimes it has been so some can surf the fetish or fantasy threads.
They have a respectable self. I don't like what I have seen out there of late, like this `gas-hole' with a name very close

Then there are the sock accusations, with no proof, however, and not even `intelligent' speculation.
Some alts are ok, those that are playtime trolls.
