If you read my post about what happened to me in California you will know my feelings about at least Southern California. . According to the article that I linked there are three people moving out of California for everyone that is moving In. It's becoming like Manhattan in that unless you are wealthy it's not worth it . Rixer wishes to ignore these facts . I guess that's his right but I don't smoke marijuana so I have to deal with the real world

I am not there right now . It's kind of interesting because most people that are in the Netherlands don't smoke pot . It seems like that something more for the foreigners . The whole city of Amsterdam smells like an ashtray . Technically you can't smoke pot unless you're a Dutch national but they don't seem to be enforcing that very much . The Dutch have a reputation for being quite rude and they are especially suspicious of Americans but I have found that if you are respectful they do warm up.

A lot of people don't like it because it's cold and rainy nearly all year long. So if you're looking for a nice warm vacation spot this is not the place for you .

Italy and Greece are much more welcoming of foreigners and the weather is definitely nicer .

I live in California and have done just fine so I know what I'm talking about from first hand experience. I earned a decent living, raised a family and am still doing just fine here. Too bad you're not as ambitious as a pothead.

Now then, I will say it again. California has more to offer and is more diverse than any other state, period. We have something for everybody and though it is expensive to live here, wages are appropriate for the cost of living if you apply yourself to getting a decent job. Slackers don't fare well and move to Ohio or some other god awful place.

Oh and another thing, bigots like you mean nothing to me. Your snide remarks about marijuana are no more than trying to smear others and it shows what a small person you really are. (likely not in stature though)

When I lived in California it was an exciting and safe place to live. I enjoyed the ethnic diversity. California may have changed for the worst. I do not think so. I am still in contact with friends there. They are not complaining about anything.

The only problem is the high cost of a place to live. Small one bedroom apartments in San Francisco start at about $2,000 a month, and go up from there. The reason is not illegal immigrants living off of welfare. The reason is the fact that people with genius level IQ's and professional degrees from elite universities like Stanford, Berkeley, the University of Chicago, and Ivy League schools want to live there.

Companies like Google and Facebook could move to low rent, low tax locations in the south and mid west. They do not because most of their well paid employees would refuse to move there. The thought of moving to fly over country gives them psychological hangovers.

 

If given a choice of California or that hell called Kansas, I'll take California. Plus of course if Nicole hates it, then there must be something to California.

 

If I had a home in Hell and a house in Ohio or Kansas, I'd sell my house and go home.

When Shooter was a river guide he had a passenger who had lived in New York for all 28 years of his life. He had literally never been outside the city limits of New York. Ever, until he got on the plane to come to his river trip. Initially, the guy was obnoxious; complaining about the airport, the thin air, the number of fast food joints, the hicks, etc. etc. etc.
By the time he got to the put in point he was mesmerized by the buffalo (really cows, but whatever reality works) the wide open spaces, the river, and so forth. In camp he kept taking pictures of the coffee pot, and wanting us to take pictures of him holding it. Shooter finally asked him why. He said he'd never seen an antique coffee pot before and wanted to show his friends that he'd really, actually, seen and touched one. He was convinced it was antique, cause you know, there wasn't a power cord ............. We could never convince him that he could buy a brand new "antique coffee pot" in any sporting goods store anywhere, except maybe in New York.
Really. The guy was a hoot.

At the end of the trip he thanked us profusely, saying we had changed his life and opened his eyes to a whole new world. But, he said, he was excited to get back to New York. You know, civilization and all. And his parting words to Shooter?
"If you ever want to get civilized, come to New York and I'll show you what real living is all about." Really.
Shooter looks at it this way;
Someone (like his daughter) wants to live in California, pay all the taxes, live under the yoke of an all powerful all invasive government, fine.

Someone wants to live in Colorado, fine.
Want to live in the ice and cold but pretty much free of Government, in Alaska? Fine.
Or Kansas, or Oklahoma, or wherever, fine.

And for me home is probably northwestern Europe .
To me the most successful economic systems are the ones that are viewed to be the most successful economic systems by the people who live under them .
I just want people to know that California is not the home of the big bang theory or any of the other popular propaganda of Hollywood .
If you want to live there be aware that you will be living among a majority Mexican population and you will be living among high taxes and you will be living among a very high cost-of-living and you will be living among very high taxes and you will be living among very common andcasual crime.
But you will also be living among almost perfect weather and probably the most beautiful beaches in the world .
So it is up to each individual to decide the trade-offs .

Leonard character is constantly berating his elders about their lack of political correctness while constantly giving in to Sheldon who is nothing but abusive . I stopped watching it in the third season .

Also constantly giving in to Penny who is in essence a high-class prostitute .

I have the same complaint about how I Met your mother . It had one good season before it turned into a cluster you know what .

But the big bang theory is by far the most profitable show on television today. Sadly that says a lot about America.
