You prove yourself to be an ignorant and stupid (two different things) brainwashed parrot once again. The conservative/Republican/Teabagger cave-in on not raising taxes has now turned into an avalanche because they know they invented the "fiscal cliff" and the majority of Americans are going to blame them if we go over it. So they are throwing their former hero Grover Norquist and his no-tax increase pledge under the bus and preparing to raise taxes on the wealthy but not the middle-class.:excited:

One thing that a couple of our leading conservatives often fall back on when I point out the liars who practice the lie of conservatism is they claim those people aren't "true conservatives." But when I ask them to name a "true conservative the most I've ever seen them come up with is one. Hell I can do that much by naming Alan K. Simpson. Who is not just a square shooting conservative but a very colorful one as well. Just like this.:)

Alan Simpson hopes Norquist drowns in a bathtub

Once again the lie of conservatism is clearly displayed because they swear they love freedom, liberty, and the constitution. But that's just another lie the preach but never practice.

Poll: Nearly Half Of Republicans Think Defunct ACORN Stole 2012 Election

December 4th, 2012 4:37 pm
Henry Decker

After President Barack Obama decisively won re-election with 332 electoral votes and almost 51 percent of the popular vote, Louisiana governor (and potential 2016 candidate) Bobby Jindal warned his fellow Republicans to “stop being the stupid party.”

According to Public Policy Polling’s latest national poll, Jindal’s message hasn’t yet sunk in.

The poll shows that 49 percent of Republican voters believe that ACORN stole the election for President Obama. That’s down from the 52 percent who thought that ACORN stole the 2008 election, although as PPP points out, the decline is “smaller than might have been expected, given that ACORN doesn’t exist anymore.”

Perhaps country needs a tax revolt
By Cal Thomas
Tribune Media Services

Congress returned to "work" this week (now there's a laugh) to complete its lame-duck session before taking another holiday. Spending other people's money is a taxing experience.

Their task is to avoid the "fiscal cliff," a geological construct of their own making. It doesn't take a genius to predict both parties will try to do two things: (1) reach an agreement that will allow each side to take some credit and (2) require those who work for a living to pay government more while they come up with phony, or inconsequential spending "cuts."

Whatever they do, payroll taxes are going up January 1 and new taxes associated with Obamacare will soon follow. It is beyond argument that additional revenue isn't the solution to the problem of uncontrolled spending.

Absent reforms, the U.S. Senate Budget Committee predicts the federal government could be $20 trillion in debt by 2016. Clearly, it's not lack of revenue that is driving the debt; it is lack of spending restraint.

How much more should we subsidize government irresponsibility? If the answer is "not another dime" perhaps the time has come for a taxpayer revolt.

In 1978, the late Howard Jarvis and his wife led a successful drive to put Proposition 13 on the California ballot. The measure, which was overwhelmingly approved by voters, limited rapidly rising property taxes. According to the Howard Jarvis Taxpayer Association website, Proposition 13 "has saved Californians $400 billion and allowed millions of Californians to keep their homes."

What is needed is a leader with the determination of Howard Jarvis who can organize nationally to keep government from constantly pilfering the assets of the productive so politicians can subsidize the unproductive, buy their votes and addict them to entitlements.

As long as taxpayers continue to acquiesce to the politicians in their never-ending search for more revenue, they will keep taking it.

Members of both parties are guilty of not reforming entitlements and failing to put the people first.

Absent members of Congress acting responsibly, does anyone have a better idea? If so, send it to me. I eagerly await all legal and credible suggestions.

Taxpayers, revolt!

etc., etc.

---------

When I read this I thought of Cal Thomas as a former boxing champion, now past his prime, who dreams of a comeback.

The tax revolt of 1978 happened under different economic circumstances. Inflation was pushing tax payers into higher tax brackets without increasing their standards of living. In addition, white voters thought the government did little but take their tax money in order to give it to undeserving blacks. The tax revolt can be seen as a draft riot against the War on Poverty.

Of course there still are some people who think this way. They lost the last election. They are likely to keep on losing elections, and by larger margins, unless the GOP wins most of the Jewish and Oriental vote. I don't think it will. Meanwhile, the percentage of whites in the electorate is going to decline. White blue collar workers may finally realize that tax cuts for the rich do not do them any good, and that they do not pay off the national debt.

For several years polls have indicated that most Americans oppose cuts in Social Security and Medicare, and that they favor higher taxes for the rich. What Cal Thomas advocates does not speak to those concerns.

I think Cal better hang up his boxing gloves and take up stamp collecting.

I just read Cal Thomas' column for the third time. As I remembered, he did not suggest a single specific spending cut, only massive tax cuts. Nevertheless, charlatans like him have the nerve to complain about the deficit.

The dichotomy between makers and takers, or between producers and parasites is an example of clever demagoguery. It appeals to lower income white blue collar workers who have nothing to be proud of but the fact that they have jobs - however menial - and that they are not on welfare.

Nevertheless, it ignores the large number of Republicans who are dependent on government checks. Their attitude is, "I deserve it. Those (black) people over there don't." Nevertheless another tax revolt will either mean much more national debt, or it will mean fewer and smaller government checks for a very large number of Republican voters.

I have to return to this because I have never seen a more dramatic and yet at the same time hilarious single day in the United States Senate in my life.

And the drama of course would be the sudden announcement of South Carolina Sen. Jim DeMint resigning from the Senate to take the head position at the Heritage Foundation. Now this one has both the right and left thrown into a tissy. The right is simply stunned that the leading TeaBagger in congress is leaving their ranks because DeMint was the one they could count on to take the furthest right positon of any of them and make the rest of them look liker moderates. And his supporters will point to DeMint getting people like Rand Paul elected while his detractors will claim his backing of candidates like Christine O'Donnell, Todd Atkins, and Richard Murdoch kept the Senate in democratic control for the past two elections. But its not much better on the left where the reactions range from elation to fear that he might actually do something with the discredited and thoroughly debunked Heritage Foundation. But its been high drama no matter which side of the political spectrum people are on.

And then there's the Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell's bluff today in calling for a vote on giving President Obama authority to raise the debt limit unless he is overridden by a 2/3rds majority vote of congress. McConnell did it in an attempt to embarrass President Obama and the Democrats which was actually a proposal he made in 2011, thinking they would not vote on it. But then Harry Reid came back and moved his proposal forward on a simple majority up and down vote. That panicked McConnell and he had to rush back to the floor and filibuster against his own call for a vote on his own proposal.

Now that was funny enough but the reaction from Senators like Clair McKaskill and Dick Durbin were just priceless. McKaskill feigned whiplash and Durbin said they had just made senate history.

"This may be a moment in Senate history when a senator made a proposal and, when given an opportunity for a vote on that proposal, filibustered his own proposal," said Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.). "I think we have reached a new spot in the history of the Senate we've never seen before."

What a day in GOP hilarity.:excited::excited::excited::excited:
