    I have to laugh at the way the PR hacks quote Politifact when it suits them and then commit an ad hominem logical fallacy of attacking the same source when it comes to exposing Trump's lies.

    Trump signs executive order rolling back Obama-era energy regs

    President Trump moved Tuesday to unravel a host of energy regulations imposed by his predecessor, targeting in particular the Obama administration’s signature program that was intended to curb carbon emissions – but blasted by Republicans for hurting the already-struggling coal industry.

    With a sweeping executive order signed at EPA headquarters, Trump initiated an immediate review of the Clean Power Plan, which restricts greenhouse gas emissions at coal-fired power plants. Surrounded by coal miners, the president described that plan as a “crushing attack” on workers and vowed to nix “job-killing regulations.”

    “We’re going to have safety, we’re going to have clean water, we’re going to have clean air, but so many [regulations] are unnecessary, so many are job-killing,” he said.

      It's interesting that America managed to limp along, not having asthma, cancer clusters, etc. etc. etc. before the Obama regulations, but Obama's job killing regulations being put out to pasture means we will all now die horrible diseased deaths, hunkering in our destroyed environments.

    Actually instead of just getting ready for a dirtier and more deadly environment get ready for more than 40 different lawsuits that will tie this meaningless executive order up for years and kill a lot of it.

    Trump does not get to be a dictator. At least not yet.

    Interesting.
    President Obama, through executive order, imposes draconian new regulations that are really nothing more than aimed at killing the coal industry in favor of "clean energy" that is anything but while padding his cronies bank accounts and he's a hero.

    President Trump revokes those executive orders while stating;
    "We’re going to have safety, we’re going to have clean water, we’re going to have clean air, but so many [regulations] are unnecessary, so many are job-killing,” he said.
    And he's a dictator.

    I'm not sure why we should support the coal industry. Do we want to have air like Beijing?

    go to LA and you use no coal there.....look at that fucking mess....

    the parts of the country that still use coal dont have a ton of other pollution....
    besides that the newer coal plants have scrubbers and do not emit that much carbon....,-

    1. Rixer
      Right. Now imagine LA with coal fired power plants. Not a pretty site. Look at China where they use coal. The air is dirtier than your local Texas smoking lounge..
      Coal is the dirtiest of all fossil fuels.

    Not support the coal industry?
    Fine. Lets review what coal is used for;

    Coal-fired power stations generate 40% of global electricity.
    About 70% of steel is created using coke, a high-carbon fuel made from coal.
    The dandruff and head lice-zapping power of some shampoos is thanks to coal tar.
    Coal is a key element in the manufacture of ammonia fertilizer.
    Concrete is a made using coal.

    The Obama talking point on getting rid of the Coal industry was kill coal and save the environment. They didn't talk about the other uses of coal, or that coal fired plants are much cleaner than even 5 years ago, or what to do with the 80,000 people who work in coal, or that one simply cannot regulate an industry out of business without consequences. And they didn't want to talk about the entire transportation industry that pumps more pollutants into the environment every day than coal does in years. How much CO2 is pumped into the UPPER atmosphere hourly by passenger jets? Compared to that, coal is a non environmental issue.
    Bejing air quality my ass.

    But Obama was the environmental hero for his executive orders would all but kill the coal industry, and Trump is a dictator for revoking them.

    If we ever manage to get past the political hate rhetoric on both sides of the aisle we might have a chance to have meaningful discourse about the issues.

    Right. Coal powers 40% of the world's energy and produces 39% of the co2 emissions. The reason its used so much is it's the cheapest.
    Clean coal is a myth.

    1. shootersa
      And the airline industry generates about 23%
      Of course, most of that is generated high in the atmosphere so it is estimated that it's impact is 2-4 times greater than a comparable amount of CO2 generated at ground level.

      @Rixer. Good post. Next time ask @shootersa to explain clean coal and if this concept is in use any place.

      No Republican has, so maybe. Just maybe.

      Fine.
      Some questions for the Dickhead;
      1) What will you offer the 80,000 or so coal industry employees when you've eliminated their jobs?
      2) What will you replace coal with for all the other applications it's used for?
      3) What's your solution to deal with the tons of CO2 dumped into the upper atmosphere daily by all those airplanes?

      1) Nothing. They are fucked.

      2) Natural gas is being used to replace coal. Sorry to burst your bubble.

      3) Sure.
