    A pro-Trump influencer who recently interviewed Tucker Carlson celebrated on Saturday that the former president got the "nod" from Nation of Islam leader Minister Louis Farrakhan, but the video dates back to at least 2018, according to various news reports.

    Tim Pool, who recently got Carlson to say that he wouldn't support Trump if Nikki Haley was the V.P. on the ticket, posted on social media that "Trump got the farrakhan nod." With that caption, Pool shared someone else's video in which Farrakhan is seen praising Trump and calling him an "anomaly."

    The video is not new, as is implied by Pool, but instead comes from 2018, when Farrakhan appeared at Chicago radio station WGCI, according to Haaretz.

    "Louis Farrakhan, leader of the Nation of Islam, changed his opinion of U.S. President Donald Trump over the weekend while appearing at Chicago radio station WGCI on a program titled 'The Morning Takeover,'" the outlet reported at the time. It added that the "Nation of Islam leader said that while Trump may not have intended to help his cause, he has done so by 'destroying the enemies of the Nation of Islam.'"

    In the comments of Pool's post, someone pointed out that Pool himself had negative things to say about Farrakhan a few years ago.

    "You implied that Farrakhan was a 'Jew hating racial supremacist' so surely you think this endorsement is bad, right?" the verified user wrote. Indeed, Pool wrote, "Sprinkle in a lil Farrakhan and you got yourself some jew hating racial supremacists there" in a post from 2020.

    Another user simply wrote, "This is a good thing, Tim?"

    An anti-Trump account posted that Farrakhan wouldn't be the first antisemitic people to support Trump, while several others pointed out that the clip was old.

    "I think this is an old clip. Can anyone confirm," one person wrote.

    Donald Trump shared an anonymous report Tuesday as he started 2024 continuing to claim he never lost the 2020 election.

    The 32-page report, which lists no author or researchers, once again promotes the bogus claim that cites Trump's own loyalists as experts.

    "I am pleased to share a Report (sic) that is fully verified, most of the information was gotten from Government Sources, Tapes, and other Public Records, and compiled by the most highly qualified Election Experts in the Country," wrote Trump on his Truth Social platform Tuesday morning.

    Trump secretly hired two firms in 2020, paying them over $1.3 million to find election fraud to prove he was elected. They couldn't find it. One of those hired hit out on Tuesday in despair that, despite his research, the former president continues to make his claims.

    Among the "experts" Trump cites is a Rumble video featuring his former deputy general counsel in the Office of Personnel Management that appeared on Real American Voices, a pro-Trump streaming channel. No one in the official White House Counsel's office under Trump agreed with his claims, as Pat Cipollone made clear when testifying before Congress.

    "These numbers are determinative and, in all cases, are hundreds of thousands of Votes per Swing State more than I needed to WIN that State," Trump continued. "If the Republican Senate does not step forward and address this ATROCITY, it will happen again, and be virtually impossible for Republicans to WIN ELECTIONS in the future."

    The Senate isn't held by Republicans, so presumably, Trump is ordering GOP senators to take up his cause to overturn the 2020 election again. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) made it clear to Trump, "You lost the election," according to the book by Bob Woodward and Robert Costa.

    Trump faces charges in federal court for attempting to overthrow the 2020 election and urging an attack on Congress to stop the vote count. The post delivers a glimpse of what his lawyers might present to the federal court of appeals which is set to hear his claim that he is immune from prosecution because his actions were taken in his official capacity as president.

    "What I was doing is bringing to light the fact that the Election was, without question, Rigged and Stolen," said Trump, capitalizing random letters. "As President, and Commander-in-Chief, it was my duty to do so! If I did not do this, I would have been in violation of my Oath of Office, and the Take Care Clause, which requires the President to 'take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed.' Therefore I am entitled to Total Immunity, because that is exactly what I was doing, Taking Care of our Country, and Guarding it from Rigged and Stolen Elections. Democrats are willing to play a far different game. They are willing to Cheat at levels never seen before."

    He closes by telling his supporters to read the report "carefully" and "keep an open mind" about his claims. He then attacks Democrats saying they "are already trying to do it again, but adding one more weapon, Prosecutorial Misconduct—Using the DOJ, FBI, and local Attorney Generals and D.A.’s to go after Crooked Joe Biden’s Political Opponent—ME."

    "This is a Lethal Weapon," Trump says about his report. "But so far my Record Poll Numbers would indicate that it has backfired on them. The Public knows the TRUTH, but Republicans must fight harder and smarter!"

    President Joe Biden dropped his first ad of 2024 on Thursday and leaned heavily into the message that former President Donald Trump and his followers are a threat to American democracy, although he did not name the presumptive GOP nominee by name.

    “I’ve made the preservation of American democracy the central issue of my presidency. I believe in free and fair elections and the right to vote fairly and have your vote counted,” Biden says to begin the ad.

    As images of January 6th and polling places flash across the screen, Biden then warns, “There’s something dangerous happening in America.”


    “There’s an extremist movement that does not share the basic beliefs in our democracy. All of us are being asked right now, what will we do to maintain our democracy?” he asks, concluding:

    Just please watch. The world is watching. Most important, our children and grandchildren will hold us responsible. The vice president and I have supported voting rights since day one of this administration. And I ask every American to join me in this cause. America is still a place of possibilities where the power resides with, ‘We, the people.’ That’s our soul. We are the United States of America. There is nothing beyond our capacity. We act together. I’m Joe Biden and I approve this message.

    Biden has sought to make Jan. 6th and the MAGA world threat to democracy a cornerstone of his political messaging in recent years and will give another speech highlighting what he sees as the threats to American democracy at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania on Friday.


    A poll from The Washington Post/University of Maryland (Post-UMD) this week found that Republicans continue to absolve Trump of any responsibility for the attack on the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6th, but they also have increased “loyalty” to the rioters of that day.


    “More than 7 in 10 Republicans say that too much is being made of the attack and that it is ‘time to move on.’ Fewer than 2 in 10 (18 percent) of Republicans say Jan. 6 protesters were “mostly violent,” dipping from 26 percent in 2021. Currently, 77 percent of Democrats and 54 percent of independents say the protesters were mostly violent, little changed from 2021,” noted the poll’s findings.

    Ironically, as Biden begins his campaign messaging around preserving democracy, so too has Trump – baselessly claiming that he is the victim of rigged elections and weaponization of the legal system. Trump is promising to gut the federal government and exact “retribution” on his domestic critics as a result.

    Former President Trump said in an interview that aired Monday that he predicts the U.S. economy will crash and that he hopes it does so within the next year.

    In the interview with Lou Dobbs, Trump, the current front-runner in the GOP presidential primary race, explained that, if he were elected again, he would not want to serve a term similar to President Hoover’s — who took office when the economy was stable but later oversaw the start of the Great Depression.


    Trump railed against the economy but conceded that there were some good aspects of it and took credit for those successes.

    “We have an economy that’s so fragile, and the only reason it’s running now is it’s running off the fumes of what we did,” Trump said. “It’s just running off the fumes.”

    Trump added: “And when there’s a crash — I hope it’s going to be during this next 12 months because I don’t want to be Herbert Hoover. The one president I just don’t want to be, Herbert Hoover.”

    The U.S. economy, however, has defied economists’ predictions and closed the 2023 year with high marks on a wide range of criteria: Inflation was down, job growth remained high, and the unemployment rate stayed low.

    “What we’re seeing now I think we can describe as a soft landing, and my hope is that it will continue,” Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said in an interview on CNN on Friday, shortly after the release of a surprisingly strong jobs report for December.

    The U.S. added 216,000 jobs in the final month of 2023 and kept the unemployment rate at 3.7 percent, far exceeding the expectations of economists. The annual inflation rate also dropped from 9.1 percent, a four-decade high, in June 2022 to 3.1 percent in November, according to the Labor Department.


    “The American people did it,” Yellen said. “The American people go to work every day, participate in the labor market, form new businesses. But President Biden has tried to create incentives that give Americans the tools they need to help this economy grow.”

    I have to admit to being surprised by this poll myself. Right now President Biden is getting just hammered in the polls and especially by young people for his apparent blind support of Israel's genocide of the Palestinians. But at least one demographic seems to be breaking his way. And its the demographic that tends to vote the most. And a demographic that seemed solidly in Trump's corner. Any single poll really doesn't tell us much and this one could be an outlier. But it will be very interesting if this turns out to be a trend.

    Reacting to new polling showing Donald Trump losing older voters to President Joe Biden by a stunning margin, the panel on MSNBNC's "Morning Joe" suggested the former president is scaring away a key voting block he needs in his third bid for the Oval Office.

    Noting that in the new poll, Biden leads 60 percent to 39 percent among voters over 65, the panel agreed that Trump's attacks on Biden's age may be a major factor along with the chaos that always accompanies Trump is scaring off older voters.

    "I want us to talk about this part of it, because everybody is focusing on the younger voters who right now are not moving towards him as much as they thought," co-host Scarborough prompted his panel. "They're going to come home. they just will. You look at this number though: voters 65 and older, Joe Biden, 60 percent, Donald Trump — Sam, nobody expected this, but we have seen this. Older voters have been moving toward Joe Biden steadily for quite some time, and of course, as we know, older voters? They vote."

    "Maybe they lived through Watergate and they understand the severity of it," he added. "You've seen it in poll after poll after poll, where more conservatives, traditional Republicans are backing Joe Biden. There's a number of theories around it. Maybe the age attacks on Biden are actually offending this cohort."

    "It's that chaos factor that Nikki Haley is starting to play out in New Hampshire," MSNBC regular Katty Kay stated. "We keep hearing people talk about, you don't want the chaos of Donald Trump. If you are getting older — chaos is scary for everybody — but I think it's particularly for older people when you're feeling more frail and fragile about the world anyway."

    Liz Cheney expected to lead anti-MAGA alliance of Republicans into Biden's camp: columnist

    Republicans who have turned against Trump have little choice but to jump ship now that their nemesis is once again consolidating the vote to be nominated for president.

    And one person who could help make that happen is former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY), wrote Jennifer Rubin for The Washington Post.

    The former House Republican Conference chair and Trump critic, who was instrumental to the work of the House January 6 Committee, is unlikely to endorse President Joe Biden right now, given that alternative candidates to Trump like former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley are still in the race, Rubin wrote.

    But the time is drawing near that Trump will be accepted as the inevitable nominee.

    "Cheney, who has become the most articulate voice of sanity on the right, does not want to crush one of the challengers’ chances, no matter how slight," wrote Rubin, herself a former conservative who turned against the GOP in the Trump years. "So don’t expect her to do anything to foreclose whatever small possibility remains to defeat Trump in the primaries.

    "That said, Cheney has begun to look ahead."

    Cheney has already been pushing back on the efforts of other Trump-skeptic Republicans to make excuses to fall in line, Rubin noted. “There are some conservatives who are trying to make this claim that somehow [President] Biden is a bigger risk than Trump,” Cheney said on The View recently.

    “My view is I disagree with a lot of Joe Biden’s policies. We can survive bad policies. We cannot survive torching the Constitution.”

    Moreover, Rubin continued, it wouldn't simply do to sit out the race, or to vote third party.

    "If a strongman such as Benito Mussolini, Francisco Franco or Jair Bolsonaro were the nominee, no one would dream of throwing their vote away on a fringe candidate," she wrote. "It would be essential to form a broad coalition, from the center-right to the left, in defense of democracy."

    Only once the GOP has been defeated utterly, could reformist conservatives like Cheney think seriously about a future vision for conservatism in America, wrote Rubin.

    "Perhaps a new party could tolerate more diversity on issues. A constructive Republican Party has been missing from national politics for so long that the prospect of policy innovation and debate sounds a bit strange but rather exciting!" she concluded. At the end of the day, though,

    "Cheney is inarguably right in one respect: Unless a large, ideologically diverse pro-democracy alliance defeats Trump, conservatives won’t have a democratic system in which to hash out policies. Cheney’s highest calling now might well be to impress on her fellow citizens the urgency of that effort."

    You go Liz! This is a good and surprising move on the part of Liz, the King family, and I suspect Sen. Raphael Warnock . And its the surprise factor I think is the best. Who would have ever thought Liz Cheney would be showing up at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta ? A pretty slick move on more than one level. There is the WTF factor which creates interest in what Cheney would have to say. It gives Cheney a chance to preach her message to a totally different audience. And all of it plays to President Biden shoring up Black voter support.

    And there are just about as many people in Atlanta as there is in the whole state of Wyoming.

    “I have never been more honored by any invitation than I was when Dr. Bernice King called and invited me to be here at Ebenezer Baptist Church—in perhaps the most significant pulpit in this great nation of ours—with all of you this morning to honor the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.,” Cheney began as she discussed Dr. King’s legacy and eventually turned to the 2024 GOP primary.

    “As we meet this morning, a great lie is doing its work poisoning the bloodstream of our democracy. A former president refuses to acknowledge he lost and has convinced millions that our election and our democracy no longer work,” Cheney declared, adding:


    He threatens the foundations of our nation, and everything Dr. King persevered to save. If given the chance, the former president’s allies in Congress will once again ignore the rulings of our courts, the plain language of our Constitution – as they claim for themselves the right to throw out the votes of millions of Americans and install their former leader as our president. We must not let them prevail.

    After a lengthy standing ovation — including from the church’s senior pastor and U.S. Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-GA) — Cheney went on to say, “Faith communities have a particular obligation this year. There are churches across this nation where ministers preach from the pulpits an adoration of this former president. There are pastors who seem to have forgotten the First Commandment and are openly embracing an immoral, unstable, and depraved man who threatens violence and death, who attacks the rule of law, who says he can terminate our Constitution.”

    I have never been more honored by any invitation than I was when Dr. Bernice King called and invited me to be here at Ebenezer Baptist Church—in perhaps the most significant pulpit in this great nation of ours—with all of you this morning to honor the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

    The battle Dr. King led for civil rights – the battle that changed the world – was deeply grounded in his Christian faith and in his devotion to America. Writing from the Birmingham jail in 1963, Dr. King said, “The sacred heritage of our nation and the will of Almighty God are embodied in our demands.”

    He knew the American dream was a dream unfulfilled, but to read Dr. King’s descriptions of our founding documents is to feel yourself in the presence of one who knew these documents were a shield, and a sword, a compact, capturing the aspirations of our nation and embodying a promise for every one of us. “The substance of the dream,” he said, “is expressed in these sublime words, words lifted to cosmic proportions: We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”

    As courageous students were sitting in at lunch counters across the south, he said, “I knew that as they were sitting in, they were really standing up for the best in the American dream, and taking the whole nation back to those great wells of democracy which were dug deep by the Founding Fathers in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution.”

    Dr. King fought bigotry and racism and hate with a reverence for freedom, an unshakeable courage and faith in God, and a determination to live in truth. His life and work serve truly as a call to conscience for us all – and never have we faced a greater need to heed that call than we do today.

    As we meet this morning, a great lie is doing its work poisoning the bloodstream of our democracy. A former president refuses to acknowledge he lost and has convinced millions that our election and our democracy no longer work. He threatens the foundations of our nation, and everything Dr. King persevered to save. If given the chance, the former president’s allies in Congress will once again ignore the rulings of our courts, the plain language of our Constitution, and the outcome of our elections – as they claim for themselves the right to throw out the votes of millions of Americans.     Faith communities have a particular obligation this year. There are churches across this nation where ministers preach from the pulpits an adoration of this former president. There are pastors who seem to have forgotten the First Commandment and are openly embracing an immoral, unstable, and depraved man who threatens violence and death, who attacks the rule of law, who says he can terminate our Constitution.

    All people of good will in this nation – regardless of race, religion, political affiliation, regardless of anything else that might divide us—must stand against this. And we must do so together.

    We must draw back from the abyss and see each other anew– not as partisans, but as God’s children. We must work – and vote together – to ensure we do not lose all that so many have fought and sacrificed for in generations before us.

    The danger, as Dr. King taught us, is not only the vitriolic words and violent actions of bad people, but also the appalling silence and indifference of good people. We all must act. We all must serve. The only requirement for service, as Dr. King said, “is a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.”

    As we honor the greatness of Dr. King, let us also remember the goodness of our nation, the kindness of our neighbors, the better angels of our nature, that the God who gave us life gave us liberty. Let us resolve that we will rise above what divides us to love our country more. And let us resolve to live in truth fortified by the memory and lessons of the life of Dr. Martin Luther King.

    On March 25, 1965, standing in front of the Alabama state capitol in Montgomery, at the end of the march from the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, Dr. King reminded the world that “no lie can live forever.”

    “I know you are asking today,” he said, “how long will it take? I come to say to you this afternoon, however difficult the moment, however frustrating the hour, it will not be long because the truth crushed to earth will rise again.” Together, remembering the lessons and courage of Dr. King, we can make sure it does.

    Statements made in 2016 by then-presidential candidate Donald Trump about the impossibility of governing as president while under indictment came to life again after 2024 presidential candidate Donald Trump was charged with "91 criminal offenses in four criminal cases."

    Readers asked us to look into the veracity of such statements attributed to Trump on social media. For example, the following was shared to the subreddit r/Conservative in December 2023:

    The text in question stems from two separate Trump rallies held in November 2016 — a Nov. 3 rally in North Carolina, and a Nov. 5 rally in Colorado. The statements made by Trump were in reference to the Oct. 28 revelation to Congress by then-FBI Director James Comey that his agency had reopened a criminal investigation into Hillary Clinton.

    The phrasing at issue appears to stem from reporting by CNN's KFile. In July 2023, that team published a story unearthing multiple statements made by Trump following Comey's disclosure (emphasis ours):

    On November 3, 2016, in Concord, North Carolina, Trump made similar comments. “If she were to win, it would create an unprecedented Constitutional crisis that would cripple the operations of our government,” he said.

    “She is likely to be under investigation for many years, and also it will probably end up – in my opinion – in a criminal trial. I mean, you take a look. Who knows? But it certainly looks that way.” [...] “She has no right to be running, you know that,” Trump said. “No right.”

    Trump added at a November 5, 2016, rally in Denver that as “the prime suspect in a far-reaching criminal investigation,” Clinton’s controversies would make it “virtually impossible for her to govern.

    The paraphrased collection of statements is sometimes incorrectly cited as a direct quote. However, as displayed in the meme shown here, the portions within the quotation marks are statements Trump made in November 2016, and the paraphrased portions accurately reflect these statements' intent. As such, the claim is True.

    Donald Trump on Friday night took a trip back to his roots when he referred to Kim Jong Un, Putin, and other foreign dictators as "very fine people."

    Trump, who was delivering remarks in Concord, New Hampshire, earlier in his speech apparently confused Nikki Haley and Nancy Pelosi, resulting in the ex-president blaming the former for the events of Jan. 6. In this instance, however, Trump was claiming that Haley isn't up to the task of presidency.

    "She cannot do this job," he said, naming the dictators and then saying they are "very fine people you have to deal with."

    MSNBC personality Mehdi Hasan had this to say:

    "Trump in 2017 referred to Nazis as ‘very fine people’. Trump in 2024 refers to foreign dictators as ‘very fine people.’ And almost half of Americans and much of the GOP is ready to make him president *again*. Sheesh."

    David Corn, Mother Jones' Washington bureau chief, said that Trump is claiming "that the woman he appointed UN ambassador is not smart enough and not tough enough. What does that say about the guy who hired her? And yes he referred to Putin and Kim as 'very fine people.' This is bonkers."

    Jay Nordlinger, the senior editor for National Review, said, "They are not very fine people. They are murderous dictators. Americans, please stop this man from being president again," Nordlinger wrote.

    Authoritarian expert Ruth Ben-Ghiat also threw in her two cents.

    "So Communists and Fascists are both very fine people. It's just democrats that he despises."

    Dem lawmaker Adam Schiff also accused Trump of coddling terroristic nations.

    "Tonight, Donald Trump called Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong-un 'very fine people,'" he said. "He's not hiding who his friends are - and they're no friends of the United States."

    I actually posted that on another thread but it also goes here because there seems to be kind of theme going on here. Trump is mentally ill and can't really move on. And now more than ever because he feels reality closing in on him. so yes he's stuck in the same old loop.

    The day after Donald Trump won the Iowa caucuses, his supporters ignored the freezing rain and came out for a rally in New Hampshire to celebrate the victory. According to Politico's Ian Ward, when Trump arrived, it was clear he didn't want to be there.

    Ward writes that Trump rallies have gone from being the primary attraction in MAGA world to "awkward sideshows in his grander political drama, which is now unfolding primarily in closed courtrooms and six-page legal orders."

    Ward also posits that Trump's speeches, while always rambling and sometimes incoherent, now have simply become "inescapably monotonous."

    "His rallies aren’t fundamentally different than they have been in past elections, but therein lies the problem: There’s little new substance or material in this year’s revival of the Trump Show. His core grievances — against the 'radical left Democrats,' the deep state, the RINOs, the globalists, the media — are little changed since he first started running for president in 2015, and his schticks — spinning out new nicknames for his rivals, goading the crowd to boo the press — are all retreads," Ward writes.

    Trump's fans seem to be noticing the monotony too, according to Ward. Towards the end of Trump's Iowa speech to around 5,000 people, the audience "started to look a little bored," Ward writes, adding that some people started heading for the exits as Trump was talking.

    Nevertheless, the rallies provide Trump supporters an opportunity to see the Trump phenomenon in person. One "MAGA diehard" told Ward that the rallies give him "hope."

    “Politics aside, Trump rallies are the greatest show on earth," the man said.

    'Donald has a crowd size problem': Mary Trump says turnout issues will 'trigger' her uncle

    Donald Trump's niece says that she's able to predict the ex-president's next "trigger" because she knows him so well.

    Specifically, Mary Trump was referring to reports that, recently, the former president's rallies have lacked the vigor that they had in the past. She also pointed to Trump reportedly having "empty seats all over the arena."

    "Donald isn’t going to like this," Mary Trump said Wednesday. "As he tries to grapple with Nikki Haley’s stronger-than-expected showing in New Hampshire, Donald’s campaign has a new problem: shrinking crowd sizes."

    Mary Trump said the crowd size issue might seem small to some but that, for her uncle, it is important.

    "The appearance of low attendance has always been a trigger for Donald, who infamously lied about the crowd size of his inauguration," Mary Trump said. "If news of his crowd-size problem gets out, it will add to the increasing number of issues—like Nikki Haley’s stronger-than-expected showing, the increasing number of prominent politicians withholding their endorsements—having a negative impact on him."

    She added some insider information based on her knowledge of the ex-president.

    "The issue of crowd size may seem trivial, but not if you know Donald," she said on Wednesday. "Crowd size is one of the key ways Donald measures success. Small turnout, muted responses, and louder hecklers challenge him and stress him in a way few other things can. Huge crowds, and their violent energy, motivate him. They were a crutch. Without them, he loses an important method of deploying his message, and momentum."

    Mary Trump concluded by suggesting that "Donald is vulnerable."

    "We shouldn’t ignore it when New Hampshire Republican voters say they voted for Haley in order to stop Donald," she wrote. "Perhaps they are disgusted with his party too. Just this evening, the House ethics committee announced it reached out to a woman who allegedly had sex with Matt Gaetz when she was just 17 years-old."

    Donald Trump ramped up his attacks on Nikki Haley Wednesday by threatening to shun anyone who donated to her campaign.

    “Anybody that makes a ‘contribution’ to Birdbrain, from this moment forth, will be permanently barred from the MAGA camp,” he wrote on Truth Social. “We don’t want them, and will not accept them.”

    Haley's defiant tone during her speech after losing to Trump in the New Hampshire primary apparently drew the ire of the former president, as well as her saying he's "not as sharp" as he once was in light of recent gaffes and rambling speeches he's made.

    But Trump's threat to Haley's donors seems to have had the opposite effect from what he hoped, with people taking to X to declare that Trump's threat inspired them to donate to Haley.

    Others accused Trump of using "mob boss" tactics.

    "This is how the Mafia and cartels operate," journalist David Lazerus wrote.

    "So… Trump has alienated Independents. He’s alienated DeSantis supporters. Now he’s alienating Haley supporters. Is there no one with balls enough on his team to tell him the whole ‘mob boss’ routine is not a winning strategy?" X user and "Reagan/DeSantis Republican" The Might Quinn wrote.

    "Black-listing donors in a race Democrats are going to outspend Republicans by hundreds of millions. Great strategy," wrote conservative blogger Bonchie.

    "Seems like a good time to send Nikki a modest contribution," wrote The Bulwark's editor Bill Kristol.

    "Please let the Trump team know that I donated to Haley," wrote another X user.

    "I just donated to Nikki Haley. You should, too — and so should your family. Proud to be “permanently barred” from Trumpism. Feels nice. Try it!" wrote conservative lawyer Heath Mayo.

    Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley's refusal to end her bid for the 2024 Republican Party presidential nomination has gotten under Donald Trump's skin as it forces him to spend more time on the campaign trail as he battles his myriad legal problems.

    According to a report from the Guardian's David Smith, the former president is "consumed with rage" at Haley because her refusal to drop out is keeping his campaign from making a "pivot" to taking on President Joe Biden and instead finds itself having to fend off her increasing attacks.

    As Smith explained Trump's fury, " ... offers a reminder of the unhinged behaviour that turned off independent voters in New Hampshire and could prove to be a liability in a head-to-head contest with Biden. It is also at odds with what is an unusually professional and disciplined campaign operation."

    According to Brown University political scientist Wendy Schiller, "Donald Trump wants the race to be over and we see evidence of why that’s important for the Trump campaign from his speech, which was essentially a train wreck and exhibited all the worst tendencies of Donald Trump. It was an undisciplined Trump and this is what turns off independent voters.”

    Schiller called Haley's refusal and Trump's public anger about it, "The Achilles heel for the Trump campaign and they know it."

    "The sooner this gets wrapped up then he doesn’t have any more of those impromptu late night speeches. Their worry is not that they’re not going to win the nomination; their worry is the damage that Trump having to respond to Haley will do in the general election with independent voters," she explained.

    As the Guardian's Smith notes, Trump's fury at Haley is over-the-top considering how little threat she poses to getting the nomination and his inability to set it aside makes him his own worst enemy.

    Former House speaker Newt Gingrich (R-GA) agrees, explaining, "Trump’s best strategy is to assume he is the nominee and go straight at Biden and ignore Haley, let her flounder around until she either runs out of money or realizes that there is no future. She’ll presently disappear.”
