You kinda missed the point, the reason that the Scandinavian countries are doing as well as they are is their exploitation of natural resources. Those countries also have a history of standing on the sidelines when they are called to support mutual defense treaties.

This of course, saves them money and keeps other resources within their borders, which is okay by me. But, since we, the US, have a long standing practice of pouring money and resources into the defense of other countries, as well as humanitarian aid, some allowance should be given by our detractors.

However, if we stop such practices then who will fill the vacuum that nature so abhors?

Canada, IMO, is by no means a typical stand alone Social Democracy. Your largest trading partner is a few miles away. The source of much of your prosperity is directly connected by your Southern border, except in Windsor, Ontario, where it is the Northern border.

Your health care system may be national, but it far from superior, in terms of the delivery of the highest quality care.

I suppose the United States should be flattered that the world bothers to preach to it. The day it stops, we will really have cause to worry.

There is one thing more frustrating than pontification from the citizens of social democracies: when socialists on these shores chime in.

Scenario:

United States withdraws from Suez Canal.

United States withdraws from Panama Canal.

United States withdraws from Japan, the Phillipines, Tawan, South Kora, and the South China Sea.

United States withdraws from NATO and recalls all of its military assets from Europe.

United States dissolves its northern and southern borders.

United States withdraws all financial/material/technical support from Israel, Jordan, Egypt and Saudi Arabia.

Republican Party rolls over.

United States uses all the money that it would save to adopt a social democratic system on the European model. (Scandinavia or Sweden, for instance.)

United States erases its sixteen trillion dollar debt by devaluing its currency.

United States withdraws from the IMF.

United States dissolves the Federal Reserve Banking System and returns to a gold standard.




There. Look at all the money we would save.

I am proposing that the Republicans step aside, go for a nice long nap, and let the Democrats work right down this list, completely unopposed.

Decriminalize federal prohibitions on drugs, so that Colorado and Washington State can implement their new cannibis laws unfettered.

Me, I rolled my 401(K) into a guaranteed return annuity yesterday, betting that the economy gets flushed under Obama.

Cause, I don't want my 401(K) tanking just before I retire, making me a bitter broke old man eating cat food, sitting in the dark and cold, plotting a trip to Chicago to get revenge.

This way I can be a rich, fat, indulgent retired white American flying around the world wondering why the natives hate my white patent leather shoed, polyester coated, tweed blazered loud mouthed ass.

 

We're at the same place that we were BEFORE Election Day.... Obama. A Republican House. A Democrat Senate. 6 billion dollars was spent...and we got the same thing that we had BEFORE the $$$ was spent.

About HALF the country voted for Obama. HALF voted for Romney. A 50-50 split.

I am out of the stock market. My partners and I have taken maximum equity draws on our business, liquidated it to the bare bones, and have sunk it into hard assets and real estate.

The country could come after my house and land. The State Approved Narrative is already preparing for this, with language like "Economic Patriotism," but none of us can worry about that. If it happens, it happens. We should embrace it. For the better good.

That would only happen with a forced devaluation of the currency and erasure of the national debt, which our creditors (notably China) would view as an act of war. At that point it would be curtains, because we no longer have the ability or need to defend ourselves against China, so there is no point in worrying about it.

Besides, I have faith in the Democratic Party. They are smarter, and their ideas our better, than ours. It will not come to that. I believe it. Don't you?
