When I read that book back in high school the teacher told us that Golding wrote it in response to a book he had read. In the other book, the kids land somewhere and become devout Christians. He thought that was nonsense, so he wrote what he thought would happen if you put a bunch of pubescent boys on an island alone together.

Obviously we know which one people identified with more.

Lord of Flies

While at a military boarding school as a teenager I read Lord of the Flies, by Nobel Prize-winning author William Golding. It was very convincing. I knew that if I was on that remote island with my fellow cadets I would not be likely to survive for more than a month or so.

 

Yes, we do...we know all too well what human beings of ALL races are capable of when they're free of constraints on their behavior.

The crime rate, and other facts about Australia

According to the following chart, the murder rate in the United States is 6.8 per year per 100,000. In Australia it is 1.45. If you look at the chart, you will see that countries with European and Asian populations nearly always have lower murder rates than other countries. The countries in Latin America that have lower crime rates than the United States, such as Argentina with 5.27, and Chile with 1.9, have populations that are almost entirely of European origins.

According to the Central Intelligence Agancy World Fact Book, in Australia, the population is 92% white, 7% Asian, and 1& aboriginal and other.

Those countries also enjoy a higher standard of living than most countries that exhibit higher homicide rates. The exception is obviously the U.S., and you can chalk that one up to our gun-fetish.

The high murder rate in Africa can be explained in a variety of ways as well, but why not look to the influence of colonialism, coupled with extremely high poverty rates, as opposed to a racial explanation?

 

As I have said earlier, I think a number of factors influence the crime rate. Poverty is one. The severity of the criminal justice system is another. During the 1960's in the United States, poverty declined, both in extent and severity, but the criminal justice system became milder. The crime rate nearly doubled during this decade.

According to the chart I posted earlier, India and Communist China have lower murder rates than the United States. They also have more severe poverty.

I have already explained that in human sexual selection women are chosen more because of appearance, and men are chosen more by performance. Anyone who denies that is lying, because it is obvious to anyone who has given the matter observation and thought.

During the Nixon Administration beautiful young female models competed to date Henry Kissinger. Handsome young male models did not compete to date Bella Abzug.

 

Could this be more to do with the fact on how women were regarded and treated by a society which now claims that sexism is an outdated ideal? Women are being accepted more and more into previously male-dominated roles, and they can and do demand higher pay, as their educational merits support.

For instance, without wanting to brag, I scored among the highest in the country at my finals. And this was above many males taking the same examinations. I am female, I am considered "pretty" but if I used my looks to further my career, then I am selling myself and my intellect short.

People will always be drawn to those in power. And those in power will select from the most aesthetically pleasing among those willing to be picked. Just because there was no media coverage of Bella Abzug dating male models, does not mean it didn't happen. Only that it is less socially acceptable for a female to be in power and be seen with somebody younger and "prettier".

 

I still don't see lots of older women with wealth, power, and prestige dating young and handsome men. I am sure it happens, but it is far more the exception than the rule.

 

Just because you don't see it doesn't mean it doesn't happen. Do you know many women with wealth, power and prestige who have earned it themselves and it's not a reflection of their husbands'? Perhaps in time this will change, given that more women are now being accepted as more than just ornaments. Good to look at and shelve until such time as they can adorn an arm or host a dinner party. Things will move slow, I understand that, especially with people with your obvious bias toward us.

Who said anything about criminals? What was said that some traits carried by gene do predispose people to physical and mental processes different from another person or group. There is absolutely no contrary evidence, in many recent studies it has been well documented that this occurs, I cited but two.

BTW, diseases are not carried through genes, predispositions to certain diseases are.

I never frequented single bars, but a friend of mine who did told me that in the sexual competition that went on, making a lot of money made a man intrinsically desirable. Women preferred one night stands with those men even though they had no realistic chance of ever sharing their money. That, of course is anecdotal evidence. Nevertheless, I doubt that any single bar regulars would honestly disagree.

 

I never ask people how much they earn or are worth before agreeing to sleep with them. I leave that up to the sex workers

Lead to. It doesn't mean you will get the disease, but it does mean you're likely to.

A physical condition and a predilection to a certain behavior are not the same thing. The studies you put forth were not discussion criminal or antisocial behavior as a result of a hereditary genetic influence.

From your first link, the last paragraph:

Your second study also does not talk about genetics and how they might influence behavior. Not as it relates to this discussion, anyway.
