They are casual friends, and not very well educated. I am fairly sure they have never heard of Charles Murray. The topic never came up. When I was in college I did discuss the matter with a black college professor. He gave me an A anyway.

One of the most fascinating friends I have had in my life was a black college professor. He never raised the topic. Once or twice I alluded to it. He was an English professor who was working on his PhD. Although he was fluent in German and French he was learning ancient Greek in order to satisfy his foreign language requirement. It was fascinating to watch him translate Greek texts, word for word.

When I asked him why he was learning such a difficult language, when he already knew German and French he said, "I want to show those white boys what I can do."
