tho I do agree with much here I find using stats..%'s.. really useless... The anti-gun crowd will believe what they have been taught to believe by family, friends, the media... No Stat will ever change that.. There are a good number of stats and what are called facts here... This asshole wasn't legally permitted to own a gun.
Company policy bans guns on the property.
He wasn't laid off, he was fired.
Had a record of violent crimes.

So, in a state with some of the strictest gun laws an asshole uses a gun he wasn't supposed to have and kills 5 co workers and injures 5 police officers before they are able to kill him.

Now that the Trump Presidency has started taking on water and is listing hard to starboard, this mass shooting may stoke fears that some kind of effective gun control will be instituted. It won't be, but it may spur the kinds of gun sales figures that followed similar shootings while Obama was in the White House. Probably not. The Las Vegas shooting didn't increase gun sales by any noticeable amount, so the death of a handful guys in Illinois won't make a ripple.

 

How common place are school/mass shootings? Well so common this one is barely being covered by the MSM.

It looks like a work place shooting. At a municipal building. By a current employee.

 

No names or identities. Somebody who worked there. Who once the first police officers responded engaged in a running handgun battle.

 

Death toll is now 12.

 

If only someone had a gun to stop the shooter first before so any lives lost. I’m glad I carry and can help others around me if something like this happens.

 

John Donohue, a law professor at Stanford University, was a co-author of a National Bureau of Economic Research study that examined how gun violence coincides with the ability for individuals to carry concealed weapons, known as Right To Carry (RTC) laws. The NBER study discredited the idea of the “good guy with a gun” as a possible solution to gun violence.

Donohue told ABC News that the research “concluded that allowing citizens to carry handguns seems to increase violent crime 13 to 15 percent by the 10th year” of the laws being enacted in the state.

Another takeaway from the NBER report is that the presence of the gun could turn a would-be good guy into an intentional or unintentional bad guy.
