  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

Yes, and your guns should be the first ones they confiscate.

    Don't you agree?

It's a tough call. The problem is, as soon as a Democrat is elected, gun sales will go up. They did when Obama was in office and they went down when Trump was elected. The NRA is going broke.

The Illionois shooter was getting laidcoff after working at that factory for 15 years. There's no excuse for shooting up a workplace, but I have to wonder if he was part of a larger layoff and if his job was being shipped overseas. Desperate people do desperate things. If we really wanted to fight crime (which is already down BTW) we need to fight DESPAIR.

So, we aren’t concerned about the other 1000 shootings a year that happen in Chicago?

And as far as gun confiscations, do you know how many times the Brits went around confiscating guns in Northern Ireland? Yet somehow the IRA managed to stay armed.

And yes, your post indicates that dumb can get dumber.

''Isolate'' and ''Contain'', the only main objective of law enforcement in these instances..

Even showing more ignorance on your part, it was SWAT that entered the building.

I was watching the news back in 1984 when a guy went into a McDonald's in San Ysidro California with an AK-47 and just started killing people at random. And then after he had killed 21 people he killed himself before the police could get there. And I sat up and took notice and thought OK this is different. I hope its not the sort of thing that catches on.

And of course it did. It evolved into killing school kids on play grounds. Then moved into mass workplace shootings until "Going Postal" was a synonym for mass work place shooting. Then it seemed to move inside the schools where kids were slaughtering kids. Then got just random. A mass shooting could happen just about anyplace people gathered and made easy targets.

And now it appears the trend is going back to workplace shootings. At least there sure seems to be a rash of them lately.

But Lady I think you just absolutely nailed the most important thing. And the one thing all mass shooters seem to have in common; DESPAIR. They reach a point where they see no hope for themselves and are going to kill themselves but they also blame others for their despair and want to take as many people as possible with them.

And while I don't know if this was a factor in this specific case the reason some mass shooters go into their workplace and just start killing anyone big enough to die is because it is a sick and abusive environment where management has singled them out for torment. Which would seem to make the logical targets people in management. Not just anyone who works there. But it is actually like coyotes and sheep. The coyotes will get one sheep off by themselves and start tearing them apart. And instead of trying to do anything to help the one sheep all the other sheep just stand off to the side, watching it happen and just glad it isn't them. And so a lot of these mass shooters feel like that and know they could not have been beaten down into such despair if all the other employees didn't act like sheep and just watch it happening. And the shooter blames all of them for that.

Which is why at least at one point getting killed in a mass shooting at work was the over all 2nd leading cause of workplace death and the number one leading cause of death for women. Those statistics might no longer be true. I haven't looked them up in a while. But that was the case several years ago. And appears to be moving in that direction now.

PS Another thing I am seeing that seems different is the number of police killed and wounded responding to the shooting appears to be going up dramatically. Indicating to me at least instead of just killing themselves they welcome a shootout with the police where they make the police kill them or wait until the last second before arrest to kill themselves. That seems like a new level of dedication to me.

If you really want to fight despair, try enforcing personal responsability.

    Crime and Guns
Basic to the debates on gun control is the fact that most violent crime is committed by repeat offenders. Dealing with recidivism is key to solving violence.

    • 71% of gunshot victims had previous arrest records.
    • 64% had been convicted of a crime.
    • Victims had an average of 11 prior arrests. 1, 2
    • 63% of victims had criminal histories and 73% of that group knew their assailant (twice as often as victims without criminal histories). 3
    • 74% of homicides during the commission of a felony involve guns. 4
Most gun violence is between criminals. This should be the public policy focus.

Myth: Criminals buy guns at gun stores and gun shows
Fact: One study 5of adult offenders living in Chicago or nearby determined that criminals obtain most of their guns through their social network and personal connections. Rarely is the proximate source either direct purchase from a gun store, or even theft. This agrees with other, broader studies of incarcerated felons.

Fact: Another city-wide study, 6 this one in Pittsburgh, showed that 80% of people illegally carrying guns were prohibited from possessing guns, and that a minimum of 30% of the guns were stolen.

Fact: Other common arrangements include sharing guns and holding guns for others. 7

Myth: Guns are not a good deterrent to crime
[IMG]Fact: Guns prevent an estimated 2.5 million crimes a year or 6,849 every day. 8 Most often, the gun is never fired and no blood (including the criminal’s) is shed.

Fact: Property crime rates are dropping (especially burglaries). The chart shows the legal handgun supply in America (mainly in civilian hands) relative to the property crime rate. 9

Fact: Every year 400,000 life-threatening violent crimes are prevented using firearms.

Fact: 60% of convicted felons admitted that they avoided committing crimes when they knew the victim was armed. 40% of convicted felons admitted that they avoided committing crimes when they thought the victim might be armed. 10

Fact: Felons report that they avoid entering houses where people are at home because they fear being shot. 11

Fact: 59% of the burglaries in Britain, which has tough gun control laws, are “hot burglaries” 12 which are burglaries committed while the home is occupied by the owner/renter. By contrast, the U.S., with more lenient gun control laws, has a “hot burglary” rate of only 13%. 13

Fact: Washington DC has essentially banned gun ownership since 1976 14 and has a murder rate of 56.9 per 100,000. Across the river in Arlington, Virginia, gun ownership is less restricted. There, the murder rate is just 1.6 per 100,000, less than three percent of the Washington, DC rate. 15

Fact: 26% of all retail businesses report keeping a gun on the premises for crime control. 16

Fact: In 1982, Kennesaw, GA passed a law requiring heads of households to keep at least one firearm in the house. The residential burglary rate dropped 89% the following year. 17

Fact: A survey of felons revealed the following: 18

    • 74% of felons agreed that, “One reason burglars avoid houses when people are at home is that they fear being shot during the crime.”
    • 57% of felons polled agreed, “Criminals are more worried about meeting an armed victim than they are about running into the police.”
Myth: Private guns are used to commit violent crimes
[IMG]Fact: 90% of all violent crimes in the U.S. do not involve firearms of any type. 19

Fact: Even in crimes where the offender possessed a gun during the commission of the crime, 83% did not use or threaten to use the gun. 20

Fact: Fewer than 1% of firearms will ever be used in the commission of a crime. 21

Fact: Two-thirds of the people who die each year from gunfire are criminals being shot by other criminals. 22

Fact: Cincinnati’s review of their gang problem revealed that 74% of homicides were committed by less than 1% of the population. 23

Fact: 92% of gang murders are committed with guns. 24 Gangs are responsible for between 48% and 90% of all violent crimes. 25

Fact: Most gun crimes are gang related, and as such are big-city issues. In fact, if mayors in larger cities were more diligent about controlling gang warfare, state and nationwide gun violence rates would fall dramatically.

Myth: 40% of Americans have been or personally know a gun violence victim
Fact: This data was from an unpublished survey conducted by a political research organization. Their own footnote reads “Greenberg Quinlan Rosner Research for the New Venture Fund (Aug. 2011). Note, this is not publicly available data.” 26

Myth: Interstate transportation of guns defeats local gun control
Fact: The BATF reports that the average age of a traced gun is 11 years 27, meaning that most guns moving from state to state were transported when legal owners moved.

Fact: Fewer than 5% of traced guns in California, many of which were not crime guns, came from neighboring Nevada and Arizona. 28

Myth: High-capacity, semi-automatics are preferred by criminals
Fact: The use of semi-automatic handguns in crimes is slightly lower than the ratio of semi-automatic handguns owned by private citizens. Any increase in style and capacity simply reflects the overall supply of the various types of firearms. 29

Myth: Banning “Saturday Night Specials” reduces crime
Fact: This was the conclusion of the Johns Hopkins University Center for Gun Policy and Research – and it is wrong. They studied firearm homicide rates from Maryland after passage of a “Saturday Night Special” ban in 1998. It seems the firearm homicide rate has not subsided and remained between 68-94%. 30

Now see, CSNatureboy once again presents facts, and analysis based on those facts, that refute and destroy the liberal mantra of outlawing guns.

And the safespace has apparently been squatted upon by subby and old tool.

It's gonna be a long week........

    It's just really sad ,
Americans seem to have enough statistics and amendments ,
condolences , and spare people , workers and children ,
to do nothing to change their ways.

It appears to help , that they have a seemingly endless list of others to blame , so that no one has to take responsibility for their ongoing decline.

nobody asked for an apology ,
or anything else , except an explanation of your rather confusing statement.

Otherwise it's just meaningless bullshit rhetoric,
which I suspect is about the truth.

Defend the indefensible at all costs ,
as long as it's on your side of the great divide.
