i also had that rifle at home for years! we, the swiss, (by law every male have to) join the army with 20 years of age, since then we have to take the gun home while not serving (including 25 bullets!) until we leave the army at the age of 30 (some leave later)

the crime rate is very low indeed, but suicide rate is very high... most of crimes with guns commited within families are related to these guns!

we even have to go practice shooting once a year at least, every little town has a shooting range, we all take buses, trains, cars and bikes to go there, so everybody is carrying a gun, mostly on saturday afternoon, even without a bag / box in public !!!

if you happen to be at a bigger train-station in switzerland on sunday evening / early monday morning, you might see hundreds of sodiers walking around with guns / rifles, while drinking beers or smoking spliffs! no joke! its pretty ridiculous!

The only question should be: Was it a legitimate case of self defense?

I personally don't know, that is for the court to decide.

In America it is not a crime to hold racist views, no matter how disgusting. There are people who are racist ( like DL )who have never harmed another soul in their lives. Then there are people who are not racist in any sense of the word, that have committed horrible violent crimes, for no reason other than for their own sick pleasure.

As far as I'm concerned, all murders are hate crimes. Whether you kill someone out of envy, whether you kill someone because they pissed you off, whether you killed someone because you didn't like the way they talked, or whether you killed someone because you didn't like their race. It all boils down to the same thing.

Which brings me back full circle, Is Zimmerman a racist? The answer is "It doesn't matter." All that matters is whether it was murder or self defense.


Crimes like this happen all the time. Blacks killing whites, whites killing blacks, whites killing whites and most predominantly blacks killing blacks. Not entirely sure what justifies the attention this case has been getting over the scores of other murders that occur in this country.

Statements have been made that they are not seeking an insanity plea, which usually means the lawyers suggested it but the accused rejected it.

 

Without a autio video recording I doubt we will ever know what happened. Whoever initiated the violent encounter between George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin is guilty.

George Zimmerman was not wearing a uniform. If he pulled his gun on Trayvon Martin, Trayvon may have felt it was the beginning of an armed robbery. If he thought he was about to be shot, and tried to get the gun out of George's hand, George was guilty.

If Trayvon attacked George simply because he did not like being followed, Trayvon is guilty, and George was defending himself in ways that are covered by the stand your ground law.

Here again, I do not think we will ever know. However, George is innocent until proven guilty. Using a gun in self defense is legal in Florida, even if the attacker is unarmed.

 

How do you define "racist," and how do I conform to that definition?

 

It matters in that it he was armed and prowling his neighbourhood. He was hunting. Racism and racial profiling was his motivation to choose the target of his derision, who eventually became his murder victim.

When one of the parties is walking home from the candy store with candy and the other is armed with a deadly weapon and hunting people who 'look suspicious', you can safely add 2 and 2.

In America there is hate crime legislation that makes it illegal to discriminate against, libel, or slander anyone over matters of race, skin color, religion, sex, etc...

Let me help you.
1. The victim was a defenseless unarmed child eating candy.
2. The murderer confessed to police who reported a finding of manslaughter.
3. The murderer was set free with his weapon returned to him by police.

Usually when '1.' and '2.' happens, '3.' does not follow. When it does, it becomes a sensational and outrageous story. Sensational and outrageous stories attract attention.
