Ummm....I think that the first day is the 25th, so the last is a week from then, so that's the 1st May?

Last day to submit is 5/1. All stories should be validated by 5/6, I would assume. Then I will compile the links and titles into a poll.

ejls, I just want to say that you are one brave lady...taking all this on. I am assuming that you have written a story as well as kept abreast of your thread, and undertaking preparations for the coming onslaught. So ... I guess what I'm say is kudos, ma'am.

 

Oh please, no kudos until we see if the poll works. And yes, I finished my one story last week.

 

I wasn't planning on writing two; it's just that I got halfway through the first story and suddenly came up with a completely new idea for a story that seemed like it would work well starting off with a woman on her way to visit her lover at night. I didn't want to scrap my original idea after the hours I had put into it, but the second story begged me to write it, so I did.

Actually, it's the second one that's finished, and it's my favorite of the two. Now I'm going back and finishing up the first one. It's one love scene and a bit of denouement away from being done.

Actually, with crackedjaguar and me posting 2 stories each, 4 people would each have to write half a story in order to bring the average down to where it should be.

Yeah, I finally got started this morning, on page 7 now, figure I'm about halfway there. Sunday, you say? Damn, coulda slept in...

Not really; I'm just a little jealous. On a really good day I might write 3 or 4 pages.

 

If my wife would let me I could do twelve pages in a day... but she doesn't and that's okay...

 

Back here on earth, where non-superheroes live, I'm just a plain old writer with only one Hit-or-Miss story to submit. I'm a little bit perplexed by this contest because of the competitive mystery. With only one winner, will we rest crash and burn into history?

I call "FOUL", Jayney! The 25th comes to England before it comes to the States! [Lets see... (1) the sun rises in the east (2) the Meridian Line runs through England] etc, etc, etc...

Damn, for a second there I thought A.P. had snuck in on us using her big words! DC, Sir, I know what denouement means! But dang, until I just now read it in a sentence did I realize how ill-equipped I am to use it in a sentence of my own!

I tried it! Here is your sentence using my words in the place of denouement...

"It's one love scene and just a little bitty ole hill of a mountain to cross where I'll tie everything about the story into a pretty little bow away from being done."

I just submitted my second little story for validation. 986,000 words. I'm going to stop writing for awhile, I think. The grass feels nice under my toes. But, umm, in case I do get bored... when is the deadline for this competition thingy?

Fortunately for his sake, he seems to have slunk away in disgrace without responding back. Not that I blame him; he's just learned the hard way two lessons that all trolls should consider before making any comments:

First, if you use the written word to attack people who are both talented and experienced in using the written word to express themselves, you've just picked a fight right in the middle of your enemy's home field. And unless you're also an experienced author, you've just shown up to that battle unarmed.

Second, positive people have friends. Negative ones don't. By attacking ejls, he invited retaliation not just by her, but by me and dozens of her other friends, any one of whom could win that battle without even trying. Who does he have on his side? Nobody but himself. Dumb move. Really dumb move.

The only smart thing he did was cut his losses and disappear, hopefully never to be seen again.

 

DC, I truly admire and somewhat agree with your statements about the darling ejls's obcene troll. However, it is truly shameful that a lady such as she should be subjected to such filth.

If the site were operating perfectly, comments such as these should not be allowed unless the rest of us, those intrepid defenders of her virtue, knew the poster and were able to reply in kind (and maybe even crap up his home page or whatever).

Freedom, all freedom, is a truly wonderful thing that I have spent virtually all of my adult life defending, but crap is still crap and this lovely lady should never have been subjected to this kind of crap.

Just I support the right to spew hateful remarks, but at least give us the tools so that we can have the offending graffiti removed so that it doesn't mar the monuments of our writing. Additionally being able to address the small minded neanderthal's would be nice too. One man's trash is another man's treasure, and I won't tell you who you can or cannot sleep with so long as you don't tell me fair?
