The Department of Justice has decided to close the high-profile civil rights investigation into the killing of Tamir Rice, without bringing charges, according to sources familiar with the situation.

Rice, a 12-year-old Black youth, was carrying a pellet gun when he was shot by a White Cleveland Police officer in 2014.

A Missouri woman is in police custody after allegedly attempting to hit an officer with a car.

Early Tuesday, Springfield Police said the incident unfolded in a parking lot after an officer spotted a parked vehicle, which was previously reported stolen.

According to officials, the officer attempted to question the driver, who has since been identified as 27-year-old Maggie Thrift. While trying to question her, police said the suspect attempted to flee the scene and even tried to hit one of the officers with the vehicle as she drove away.

“At that time, three separate officers fired shots at the vehicle,” Springfield Police Chief Paul Williams noted. “The vehicle fled northbound on Maine and was not located at that time.”

Williams added that the officer suffered a minor injury, but did not require extensive medical attention.

“He has since been treated,” Williams said about the officer. “[And] released and sent home.”

The vehicle was later found abandoned in a separate location. Thrift was also located and arrested with minor injuries. She was reportedly wanted on several warrants.

The thing is, Shooter is pretty sure just about every cop ever has done pretty much the same thing without expecting more than a thanks. Publicity would be embarrassing.

Shooters personal favorite was a woman grabbed at Target for shoplifting clothes for her two little kids. She was a wreck, turned out she was seeing her estranged parents after 5 years, they had an issue with their daughter getting pregnant out of wedlock and booted her.
Anyway, the father of the kids died, and mom was desperate to make a good impression on her parents.

Shooter and the Target security people worked it out and we paid for clothes for the kids and mom. Always wondered if it worked out for her.

So anyway, this will probably trigger despicables but a story with a happy ending is a good change.

 

If it comes down to a choice of cops operating with impunity, or Criminals operating with impunity, I side with the Cops ! Its hard enough for them to keep the bad guys locked up that they deserve "some" latitude. Criminals deserve "no latitude", the justice system already gives them too much.

 

Remember always, power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely.

An investigation by US broadcaster National Public Radio published on Monday found that 135 unarmed Black people have been killed by police since 2015, often by police with red flags on their record.

NPR looked at “thousands of pages” of police records in its reviews of the deaths and found that 75 percent of the officers are white. Nineteen officers involved in the shootings had little time on the force. One had been an active police officer for four hours before the shooting.

The report also found officers who had “troubled pasts” of domestic violence and drug abuse, repeated citizens complaints and use of force incidents, officers convicted of crimes and others who violated departmental policies.

One officer, Zechariah Presley, who is white, performed poorly during interviews with the St Marys Police Department in 2016, who did not offer him a job.
Presley travelled about 13 kilometres (eight miles) to a nearby town and applied for a position in the Kingsland Police Department.

He was found to have 10 red flags by hiring authorities, the report notes, including admitting to being involved with domestic violence, assault and buying or selling drugs. Presley was still hired.

In 2018, Presley saw Anthony Green, a 33-year-old Black man, driving and knew he did not have a valid licence. Presley fired eight shots at Green after he fled on foot following a vehicle pursuit, NPR sad.

Green was hit at least five times and died.

Police killings are often costly for the force. The family of George Floyd, the man whose death in police custody sparked nationwide protests and a continuing national discussion, sued the city of Minneapolis in July for an undisclosed amount. That lawsuit is continuing.

The city of Louisville agreed to pay the family of Breonna Taylor, a Black woman who died after police fired on her home during a raid in March 2020, $12m in September, after the parties reached a settlement.

Presley was fired and charged with voluntary and involuntary manslaughter and fired. A jury found him not guilty of manslaughter but guilty of violating the oath of office.

A judge sentenced Presley to a year in prison, four years of probation and a $1,000 fine.
NPR found that of the 135 deaths, 30 judgements and settlements awarded over $142m. Many more are pending.

Charges are rare. In more than 80 cases, no charges were brought against officers. However, 33 of the killings saw officers resign or be fired, the report found.

Only 13 officers involved in the deaths were charged with murder over the last five years. Two have been convicted, with seven cases pending. There were seven charged with manslaughter and two were found guilty.

So, with Jacob Blake what we learned was that first, several officers tried and failed to subdue Blake with Tasers and physical restraint before he entered his vehicle. We also learned that the officers saw Blake holding a knife and ignored orders to drop it before one of the officer fired on Blake.


And finally, we learn that the DA, after investigation, declined to file criminal charges against any of the three officers because they acted in self defense and within the constraints of both the law and department policy.

Now as for the "WHITE" school resource officer (read security officer) slams BLACK (female) student into concrete story, did you see the video and understand the situation before you demonized cops ............... again ..............?

When Shooter was a cop, the rule was; it takes at least 4 seconds to recognize a threat, pull your weapon, asses the target and background, aim and fire with effect. If a cop is alert, expecting trouble, and already has his weapon drawn, that gets cut to about 2 seconds.

In 4 seconds an attacker can cover 25 yards. In two seconds, roughly 10 yards.

Most experts agree that given the very poor marksmanship of even trained cops, a knife is a much more dangerous weapon to confront than a gun. Even someone who is inexperienced with a knife can stab or slash very effectively, and most people simply do not recognize the danger a knife presents.
There are plenty of videos showing just how a knife does against a gun. Mainly training videos for military and law enforcement, but a few that are the real deal.

A little more history than Stumbler is going to like, but too bad, huh Stumbler?

Police responded to a family disturbance. They found a distraught 9 year old girl threatening to kill herself and her mother. At the request of the mother and because the child was physically violent, police handcuffed the girl and put her in a patrol car while they awaited an ambulance.
The girl refused to put her feet inside the car, refused to obey any officer directions, and continued to be physically violent.
This is when police pepper sprayed the girl.
She was taken to the hospital where she "received the care she required".

When Shooter was a cop, he had to restrain various malcontents, none of them as young as 9 years old. The youngest was a handcuffed and drunk 16 year old who was arrested for driving under the influence. When Shooter went to put him in the car the knucklehead tried to kick Shooters balls through the top of his head. Thankfully, he missed and only kicked the car door. Which, Shooter thought, pretty much ended the problem cause the little shit broke 3 bones in his foot.

Shooter never found it necessary to tear gas (all we had was tear gas back then) anyone. He doubts he would have ever tear gassed a 9 year old, even one who was violent. Handcuff em, leg tie em if necessary, toss em in back, and head for the jail.

 

Why yes that makes perfect sense. There is no way grown police officers could control a 9 year-old girl while she was already handcuffed without macing her in the face.

 

Shooter never had a problem controlling any of the people he restrained. Well, there was this one lady.
He once arrested the front defensive line of the local high school football team, who declared they were gonna kick Shooters ass.
No problem.
He broke up bar fights, family fights and lovers fights.
No problem.
He arrested armed felons who swore they'd never be taken alive.
They were alive when Shooter took them back to jail.

He did have trouble with one person he arrested.
A 5'2" 90 Lb. drunk lady arrested for drunk driving.
She was no problem until Shooter went to put her in the holding cell.
She didn't want to go.
Long story short, she bit through his pants, boot, sock and skin.
Had to go get a fucking tetanus shot.
And it took 4 other cops to pull that bitch off and secure her in the cell.

So we all should take note of Stumblers expert advice, based on his years of law enforcement experience and note that no cop could ever have a problem controlling a fully restrained 9 year old. You know, cause Stumbler is so experienced.
