That's too bad. Aside from any of the Manslaughter charges, as far as Murder goes, the 2nd degree murder charge would be difficult to prove (with even a reasonably unbiased jury).

There is, of course, no excuse for kneeling on George Floyd's neck for about 9 minutes, especially since in the initial arrest video, he was already complaining that he couldn't breathe - even before the police tried to get him in the patrol car. According to the coroner, he already had a lethal dose of Fentanyl in his system (yeah, thanks again for that, China), aggravated by amphetamines.

Yes - Chauvin needs to face justice, because in the best of worlds, Floyd should have been rushed to a hospital - except he did not explain anything about a possible drug overdose to officers (of course, maybe he didn't even know that he was experiencing that).

If Chauvin had just simply let him go, Floyd would have most likely died at home, major American cities would not have gone up in flames, and the BLM and Hate America crowds would not have gained such a foothold.

I think some degree of Manslaughter is the best a fair court and jury could opt for.

 

Well this is a big turn of events. Even though the Minnasota Suprme Court declined to hear an appeal the Judge has now added the Third Degree Murder charge to Derek Chauvin. And that is pretty big because its nearly impossible to convict police officers of murder and prosecutors believe Third Degree Murder is their best chance for conviction.

Leftists operate only on ideology - they have no concept of the actual reality in the cities.

 

Meanwhile, in Omaha Nebraska, a police officer responded to a fairly routine call about a shoplifter who had been apprehended by JC Penney security.
Now, normally, the procedure is to run the miscreant, you know, to see are they wanted for anything, issue a summons that store security signs, and everyone goes about their business. Sometimes the miscreant wants to play curb side lawyer and tell you they ain't answering no damn questions, and no you can't see their ID and so forth.
Then, you have to arrest them and take them in and go through all that hassle.

Well, that's what happened here. The miscreant thought he didn't have to give his real name, or comply with the officer's instructions, and finally the officer arrested the asshole. A struggle ensued, the officer tried tasing the asshole, and then the asshole whips out a gun and shoots the officer in the face and head.
And then takes off.

So eventually the other officers catch up with the miscreant and arrest him and recover the gun and the pack of T Shirts the asshole thought he was entitled to.

So the next time we hear about some jack booted stormtrooper cop shooting some poor innocent citizen, lets remember that cops get shot by assholes. We just don't often hear about it, cause, you know, cops.

Turns out in Texas, the governor said you don't gotta wear masks in public anymore, biden/harris beat that nasty covid thingy.
Which this lady took to mean, she doesn't need to wear a mask in the bank.
Which, the bank said, well yeah, you gotta wear a mask.
Things escalated and the cops get called.
The responding officer tried to explain that yeah, the governor said you don't gotta wear a mask in public, but this is a bank, and they want you to wear a mask, and so you either put on a mask or you leave.
Which our heroine said fuck that, I ain't wearing a mask and I ain't leaving!
And the cop said, well, you put on a mask, or you leave, or I arrest you.
She thought he was kidding.

Minnesota prosecutors on Tuesday accused ex-Minneapolis cop Derek Chauvin's defense team of attempting to "smear" George Floyd's reputation in a dispute over whether evidence from Floyd's 2019 arrest could be included during trial proceedings.

Before jury selection continued, both sides deliberated the relevance of the 2019 arrest, when officers discovered pills and Floyd's demeanor led to paramedics being called. Hennepin County Judge Peter Cahill, who viewed police-body camera video of the incident, questioned how it pertained to Floyd's arrest a year later in May 2020 when Chauvin kneeled on the back of his neck for several minutes.

Chauvin's attorney, Eric Nelson, argued that in both cases, Floyd ignored officers' commands, put something in his mouth and had to be physically removed from a vehicle. In the 2019, several opioid pills were found, along with cocaine.

Paramedics told Floyd his blood pressure was so high that he was at risk for heart attack or stroke after swallowing seven or eight pills and needed to be examined at a hospital. Nelson argued that shows Floyd knew that ingesting drugs in May 2020 could result in his hospitalization, rather than his incarceration.
