@freethinker, I get your point here. You are correct! I never heard this on major media sources, and that is my point. I assume most Americans have jobs and do not have time to devote to research about Muslims. I probably like most working people, come home from work and turn on the evening news. Maybe you see news reporting about major moderate Muslims protesting the radicals, it sure isn't on the evening news. All most Americans hear is Muslim extremists are beheading people, throwing homosexuals off buildings. If there are major protests from moderate Muslims I certainly don't hear about them on the evening news. Anybody other working people hear about it on the evening news?

 

What is your freaking problem? No one suggested you are not working. For crying out loud, get off your soap box! Can you freaking read? My comment from the start was about not seeing news about moderate Muslims protesting against radical terrorists, I did not say they aren't, I said I see no proof. I also tried to explain to you the average American is just like me, a working guy or gal that works 40 -50 hours a week AND we get our news from the evening paper, and the evening news on TV. Why do you have such a hard time understanding that? Not all of us are as fortunate as you are. We do not have the luxury of having abundant free time. So where do you get off calling me a bigot? I'm telling it like it is, major media sources are not reporting are not covering moderate Muslims marching in the streets protesting radical Muslim atrocities.

 

ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, AP, UPI, Fox, AFP, BBC, Reuters - all of them have websites, and each of those contain many more stories than the headline 'leads' the evening broadcasts put on. Is everything else irrelevant because it is not broadcast on the evening news?

If you took as much time educating yourself as you do posting here, you might change your outlook. I doubt it, but there's always that chance.

Maybe. But in my time on here, I'm not the one spewing hate and bigotry; I'm not the one who posts slanted, out of context, inaccurate crap; and I figure my age and life experience gives me every right to refute your bullshit. Your mileage may differ.

 

I posted an article hoping for dialog to understand the fears many have of the unknown. The unknown being Islam.
So many of us have never been exposed to the world of Islam. We know very little of this religion, except of the extremes
of the Qur'an which we are bombarded by through the news media.
I've never read the Qur'an, so I can't speak of it with any authority.
I've been told it's full of beautiful poetry, but also has some extremes such as disturbing directions for the believers to follow when in contact
with those who are not Muslim.
Fear of the unknown can conjure up frightening nightmares well beyond any possible reality.
Instead of a constructive conversation , or civilized discussion to enlighten those of us who want to understand the reality of our future, the conversation
has turned into a war of words.
The article I posted, has likely contributed to this, which wasn't my intent.
My hope is that we can return to a discussion whereby we will be able to better understand a way of life which for most of us is a mystery.

The real debate should be how we should fight terrorism period.

I can't see any reason why the debate shouldn't include both. Otherwise, how will we know whether it's 99.99% peaceful, or the
heavy influx of refugees currently flooding Europe, and then into North America, could heavily sway the percentages.

BUT...........
If we don't discuss Islam, along with the beginning of understanding it enough where we would be able to help Muslims assimilate into
our countries, or through fear of the unknown, we isolate Muslims to the point where we cause a shift in the percentage your speaking of.

 

I left articles, links and posts to explain what I could over several threads. I hope between that and what reliable information can be found on the internet, people will take the time to learn. Maybe they'll take time to talk with some Muslims, reach out to them, and see what they're really like. After that, they're on their own.

Just in case anyone missed the link I've posted above, here it is again for people that want to know. The idea that 99.99 percent of Muslims are peaceful is wishful thinking. If you really understood the nature and goals of Islam you would know that 99.99 percent figure couldn't possibly be true.

So, what is the truth? I am posting a link to a report based on dada gathered by Pew Research Center. The report is about 5 years old but you can be sure that if the percentages have changed, they have shifted to even more Muslims supporting Jihad. Take a look and become educated.

For those of you that want the report in a nutshell, I'll just give you just a tiny hint of what you'll find in the report. Basically the report starts by saying that Muslims in America, who are often characterized as “mainstream,” “moderate,” and “middle class,” and are often portrayed as being just like you and me,.... this survey will reveals that they are in fact so radical and extreme that 1/3 of US Muslims, support Al Qaeda and Suicide Bombers. Why don't we know this? Because the Government and the mainstream media keep this information from us. Why? Well that goes beyond what I can report in a nutshell.
