I've not been around for a while, and have received something of a shock when reading through what's been happening.

This CAW seems somewhat restrictive, and I'm rather glad that I don't have the time to enter. The under 18 age rule seems ridiculous to me, when one considers the forum rules, but that's just my opinion.

I have a question... In all the past CAWs the stories were posted and it was up to the reader as to whether or not they followed the rules.

When did the CAW SOP get the ability to reject stories?

I and another person are hashing up a story and we think it not only fits the rules but has the potential to be a real fun project. The funny part is both of us have said we weren't going to enter.

If we don't post it anonymously then all we have to do is post it. Why would we send it for approval first?

 

That's not necessary. You can just post it. Glad you and the other person are back...woo hoo!

Calling All Writers, Chapter 18 The Challenge

 

As I say, I"m going to send in the story I started writing last week. I know now that he will not, cannot accept it because it would be unfair to the other authors who accept his restrictions. I won't even try to claim that it would have been a potential CAW winner as this would be insulting to the ability of the other writers but I think it is a good story and I want to prove to him that he made a great mistake. I hope he has the decency to at least begin reading it as I have just written the first sex scene and it is far from being hard-core porn.

It is about two 16 year-old virgins, who know nothing about the opposite sex, discovering what sex is about. It starts with a rich son enticing a servant girl but then falling in love with her when he discovers that stories his school friends have told him don't correspond with the reality of the situation.

He later meets his 17 year old cousin whom he has loved since they were 14 and who has been at finishing school in Switzerland only to find that she is pregnant by one of her teachers. The story also contains a scene where they both watch a mating couple of praying mantises during which the female bites off and eats the head of the male during copulation. Now that's a pretty big story just to throw aside and I would like the readers on the forum to have the chance of deciding if my writing skills are up to the task.If PRick is so narrow minded that he wants to refuse stories then that is his problem not mine. As I've said elsewhere the alternative is for him to find ways of banning a story about a real-life paedophile and rapist which will be written to adhere to his rules.

As to shenanigans, I'm so far into conspiracy theories at the moment that I'm even beginning to think that P Rick might actually be ELP.

 

This is something I thought about when the dual way to enter was posted.

What would happen if some people write their story as they had planned it and post it as an entry. One of those stories receives the most votes despite the fact it does not conform to the SOP's rules. Wouldn't that make a total mess of things

 

Well, if the CAW Host opted to not include it in the voting (either in a public poll, or in secret PM balloting), then it wouldn't be listed for any votes. It could get write-ins I suspect, but they might be disallowed. I'm just speculating here. I'm hoping that everything goes smoothly.

Color me naive.

 

Just pointing out the potential for a bigger mess than it already is.

I see the official thread has been started so I imagine this thread will be locked soon.

I know there will be some great stories despite the restrictions. Best wishes to those who enter.

 

If I wasn't busy already, I'd totally write a farce piece involving a nobleman in the 1400s marrying a 14 year old but waiting until her 18th birthday to consummate the marriage--whereupon when she shows a bit of ankle he explodes right then from anticipation

 

But wouldn't he need to have a chaperone to ensure that nothing untoward happened to his bride while waiting for her to come of age - doesn't mean that the chaperone is in the clear for those 4 years tho' (leer, leer, leer).
