Well, it's certainly been busy whilst I've been in bed. I'm reading this with a hangover, which isn't helping. I think the best thing everyone can do is concentrate on the forthcoming KAW. If everyone can put their grievances aside and get back to the business of writing, this will be a much nicer place. (Looks out of the window to see another squadron of pigs going into land at the nearby airport.) I need another coffee.

From what I read so far, all put together, there's good material for a story from this saga. Multiple authors joining to write an essay on How can we agree that we disagree?.

I've had to duck a few times, in front of my screen, to avoid being stabbed by low flying knives.

Phew people. The best way to keep a forum alive is to welcome the newcomers who assure it's continuity by replacing those that have left.
The best way to see a forum die is to scare the newcomers away. What as been going on these past few days is not inviting for a newcomer to stick around.

Think about it. No one will win in the end. All stand to lose.

I'm not saying that you have to agree, just that your beef should stop to be debated on a public platform.

You lying sack of shit. I was out all day, came home to moderate and saw your snide remark on my NON-ENTRY, which you decided to include in YOUR poll against my wishes. A request that was sent in prior to your creating your poll. I didn't pm anyone, you asshole. I don't need advice in how to stand up for myself. That fact that you did the the same thing to two other writers caused me to comment on their stories also.

You see, ELP, when you comment on a story of mine, one I told you to remove from YOUR CAW SS, I know it will not be a compliment.

 

Behind the scenes pm's? Do you want me to break out your pm's regarding a certain challenge? Do you want me to break out your pm's regarding CAW rules? Do you want me to break out your pm's regarding certain members? I still have the pm's that I did not respond to, ELP.

When you won a CAW, you deserved to win or you campaigned for the win (that would be an agenda). There were no agendas because the readers vote. I am still convinced that there were two reasons you created the CAW SS, prior to CAW 17. The second is so you could run one on your own, without having to share with your partner. Your CAW, your rules, your poll - all yours. And you could have had that legitimately, if your own story had gotten enough votes.

ELP, you are a gifted writer at times. If you could learn to simply write and do no other commenting or posting, you'd be doing the world a favor, because some of your stories are really great. It's the rest of your online behavior that is an anathema.

You've polarized an entire forum against you by committing online seppuku. Not a single person is standing up saying "I'm with you". Do you really believe that "everyone" is wrong, and you are in the right?

You've publicly stated that you are not going to enter future CAWs. Your stories are gone both here and in the Story section. So...what are you doing here? Since you no longer want to participate in this forum by writing, what is your final play? Just to stick around and try and cause discord? Is that your legacy? To try and aggrandize to no end?

If you simply wish to participate in flame-wars, why not just move your focus to the GD. There are many willing participants there who will trade barbs and participate in tete-a-tete with you.

Ok, let me put it this way - there is no clique. There is no 'they' versus 'us.' There are groups of friends; interchangable circles of social networks of people who communicate with each other in private and in public. You make it sound like changing opinions with like-minded people have become a crime and an agenda to do.... something. I'm not sure what it is 'we' are supposed to be able to do.

You decided to fill in those dotted lines that connect people with a sharpie to try to single out certain people and see if you can use those connections. Remember, if you will, that you sent me many, many PMs, and that you are not the only one capable of saving messages.

I think you suffer from a severe case of paranoia. EVERYBODY is out to get you. EVERYBODY hates you. EVERYBODY is conspiring against you.

As far as I can see, the only thing I did was ask you to remove my story from the competition. (Yes, now you mention it, I can TOTALLY see how that is a massive master plot to take over and control the Forum!) You didn't even respond to my request, let alone honor it.


Huh. I guess I'm not part of the clique after all, since CLEARLY 'they' (whoever 'they' are) didn't tell me their plans to 'destroy' you. Damn. It's highschool all over again and I'm still on the outside.

Oh My God!

I have been away for some time because of the newest member of my family.

When I logged on I replied to PM messages, checked a few things out, and read HP's entry to CAW#14 again. Then I started looking around to see what is happening with CAW and saw this CAW SS thread.

I have spent a lot of time reading everything that has been posted since this started. I was going to start reading the entries and stopped when I saw the poison and hurtful things being said.

I agree with others who posted earlier... let us please go back to writing and having fun with each other during the process!

This hatred and discord is not what I wanted to see when I came back and it hurts me to see it.

Writing this is not easy because I am upset and English is not my first language.

What has made me very angry are the attacks on eljs, HP, and WSF, ahorsewithnoname, and other fine people who I can assure you do not have some kind of secret agenda.

I am deeply offended by this absolutely absurd accusation. When I ran CAW14 ejls was supportive as a moderator! HP I think had entered for the first time. Black Ronin and WSF and ahorsewithnoname were nothing but supportive.

At no fucking time was I ever pressured about anything related to the rules or anything involving votes! Some people asked simple questions by PM about their entry and compliance. It was a lot of work but it was fun!

The idea of short story competition is a good one. I agree with that.

What has happened in this thread is beyond reasonable civilized boundary.

I am very displeased with that accusation against those people. They and other wonderful writers mentored me and helped me when I had no reasonable expectation of their help!

It is so fucking disgusting I have to stop this now. I am sorry this is how most of you will see my return. It is regrettable but I had to say something beyond WTF IS GOING ON!

Please do read the stories - they are well worth the time it will take to enjoy them.
Please note that there are 4 stories which were originally written for the comp and were then pulled by the authors before the poll was created - you might need to search the author's threads to actually locate them now.

 

Thank you I will definitely be taking time starting now to look at those.
