What versions are you running?

Ever since I upgraded to the newer versions on the laptop I had issues.

IE: on laptop with 5+ tabs running the next tab will lock up,also had the same glitches as you have...so I turned off firewall and minimised the strength of the settings in the safety area.

Firefox: reduced some add ons that i rarely used like the skype one..(idea sourced from google)

Google about your glitches and you'll see there's plenty written about those issues.

And that fixed my problem on that machine.

 

hm, this is a very simple idea but i thought it may be so simple that it could be overlooked...
have you tried cleaning your cookies and internet cache? it sometimes fixes small bugs sometimes.
and if nothing we have said helps, maybe you could pm Fluffy while he is still here? im sure he would be more then willing to help

Thanks NG, ShaveR, angelluv, Pussy Patrol and QT!! I'll start with the firewall and eliminate the cookies and cache and then work my way down the list!! Hopefully, something will work. I've also been getting messages popping up saying I'm not connecting to the internet.

I've been able to post after hitting the submit button after the first message pops up. It's taken several tries with everything tonight.

 

How old is your pc?

It *could* be a faulty connection with your wiring, but not totally sure. Also, your ISP could be having DNS problems regarding certain websites.

Hey Kitty, are you using Comcast by chance??

If so, I had to replace the modem at home for this reason.

 

Your browsers are timing out because they are over processing due to malware.
Solution:
Step 1. Press <ctrl><alt><del> select task manager
Step 2. End any processes you do not recognize
Step 3. Open Control Panel <START><CONTROL PANEL>
Step 4. Select Add/Remove Programs. Remove anything you do not recognize.
Step 5. Run your antivirus.
Step 6. Reboot and retry your browsers.

 

Noo don't do that (in red!!) not unless you know for certain what all your ***** files are doing!! If in doubt, check this out >> Process Library

type in the <processname>then<*****> <--- the stars are <.>exe - just take out the all the <>'s
If you're still unsure about whether you should end the process, do a google search - I type in 'what is <processname>then<*****>

If you're using XP, then this site can tell you how to speed up processes!! For Vista, try this site!!

 

What is your connection like? wired, or wireless?

 

I'm connected straight to the cable, but there is also a wireless router in the house. I unplugged the modem, but was still having the same thing happen. I just turned the firewall off...I don't know where to look to see if xnxx is "allowed" on the firewall as someone suggested.

 

Just as an aside, Lioness: defrags have nothing to do with your connection.

And I'm still getting that message and having trouble loading even with the firewall off...
