Which form did you watch?......... 5 day Test Cricket, or 1 day fifty overs a side, or the crazy manic T20 twenty overs a side style which tomorrow's game is.

If the enjoyment of Baseball is watching the pitcher throw a fast ball or a Knuckle ball and if you're lucky there might be a few runs scored then no thanks, I'd rather watch paint dry.

T20 on the other hand, non stop fast paced, there's always something happening. Anywhere from three hundred to four hundred plus runs scored in four hours.

With T20 you don't get a spare minute to take the lid of the paint can.

 

The game, as opposed to the insect, is far to cerebral for you lot mate.

 

You inspired me to try to go watch the game. However Comcast have made it impossible.

I've found that Cricket is available in the US on the Willow TV channel, and that my local Comcast carry it, they'd want $14.99/month for it. I even managed to speak to a CSR, though Comcast's website makes it almost impossible to find a phone number. There are stupid technical reasons why I can't subscribe to the channel though, so that's that.

My other question is why is it called "Willow TV".

 

I live in Australia.... I have no idea who Willow TV are.

I just checked out who's broadcasting the final in the US ...... ESPN3

 

ESPN3 is not on our local cable. I don't feel like being up at 3am to watch it streaming. It'd be easy if I had it on the TV.

 

Good grief, there is more than one kind of cricket (the game) ??? Must be like softball and hardball in the US. And what drunk laid out the field (pitch??) and WTF is it with the wicket thingy?? I still don't know what a googly oogly is, I heard one announcer say it during a game.

When I talk baseball I have at least made an effort to understand the terms and rules of the game and have even watched a few games. The main difference between baseball and cricket is that in baseball you swing the bat across the line of the ball whereas in cricket the batsman plays through the line of the ball. In otherwords baseball is a lottery the only skill involved as far as I can see in bunting the ball between first and second......the rest is chance. I guess a lottery is all a fuckwit like you can understand!

I mean it is no more than glorified rounders but our girls can catch a ball without a glove! I mean nine innings to make a score that is most often not even in double figures but your don't have more than ten fingers do you? I guess hotdog sales are the most important stat in baseball!

In his career Sachin Tendulkar made more than 30,000 runs!

This is some of the most delusional horseshit I've ever heard.

Baseball is nothing but skill. The only thing in life that separates great athletes from great hitters is whether or not you can hit a major league curve. You all play with a hugely wide bat and think that's skill? Try hitting a knuckle-curve or any other number of misleading pitches with two outs and two strikes on you. Try guessing which pitch is coming where next. And try doing that with the manager deciding what you're even allowed to do as a hitter on each pitch.

And the idea that cricket is more cerebral than baseball is beyond hilarious. Baseball is the ultimate chess match.

Some of you seem to take pride in being so willfully ignorant and arrogant as to talk out of your asses on a near constant basis.

I'd love to see your girls catch a hit ball that was pitched even so much as 70 miles an hour. Let alone 100.

The first test ended last night New Zealand giving England a right thrashing. Good game.

And in reply to tallnfit, I am sorry sir, you don't know what you're talking about. Cricket balls and baseballs travel at roughly the same speed both in the throw and off the bat, with one major difference, cricket balls can be aimed at you. A test match lasts 5 days, so it is no contest as to which is the most cerebral game.

 

The Aussies just cannot help themselves............that team has been rotten to the core for a while and I am sure Lehmann will have to take the fall rather than ban players for any length of time!!

Once I was on 2nd base. I watched the pitcher intensely throughout the game. I noted that he only looked once to check the base runner.
So I took a slight lead off, he checked me, and off I went toward third. There was much confusion, the pitcher was called for a balk, and I made third base.
Coach pulled me for a pinch runner, called a <forget what it's called> bunt while the runner runs to home plate. We won the game.
