2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

I just finished reading an article about the origin of cricket in the 16th century and where the word originated, but after reading it, I was still confused so I watched part of a video of the 1996 Sri Lanka game so ignore my first question. You guys hit the ball like a golfer swings his club. But the video only showed where the ball went, not the batter running.

Sort of a similar swing, but not really...

They run up and back between the wickets..**Note, this vid is a drill, the wickets aren't normally set like that.

Also, the only player that can wear a glove to catch the ball is the wicket keeper, the rest is ball on skin....many fingers have been broken, dislocated and even webbing between the fingers split.

Test cricket is as close as a sport can come to art. That's why no one watches it. T-20 on the other hand, is as exciting as any other sport.

I enjoy it too. But I'm pretty sure there aren't too many people who really get to savor the little duels between the batsmen and the bowlers, the many different kinds of spells of cricket through the 90 overs for 5 days in a row.

I think it'd do good to have fewer international matches so that people have more interest for the ones that are played. Also, fewer ODIs would be good.

A cricket crossed my path the other day as I was on my motorbike and later had to wipe it from the visor of my helmet ... not sure if he was from any team or simply a free agent with nothing better to do, lol. :p :excited:

I watched that game but then this evening I saw a team defend 77, bowling out the opposition for 57. In a contest of bat and bal,l the ball was definitely the winner.

Tomorrow is the first test between England and the West Indies at Lords.

Love Test cricket. The king of sports.

What I like most about the Barmy Army is the way they upset the stuffed shirts of the MCC, they are sometimes more entertaining than the match. I will watch it, and I kinda like it in a patriotic way just don't force me to stare blankly at the screen while the batsman fends off ball after ball waiting for the right one to hit, I can read and look up occasionally when my interest is piqued.

My father had no interest in cricket whatsoever but as a kid in the summer my dad would take me to the cricket club every Sunday. That is how I started playing the game. In the early 70's my dad knew that on Sunday the cricket club was one of the few places where you could get a drink all afternoon.

I am sure he only looked up occasionally as well Rich.;)

The current indian team should bury itself. Another loss against Pakistan even though they suffered a batting collapse midway. India obliged by suffering one themselves. Now this is the second series they've lost, after the Test series to England.

Dhoni should rresign, and take his prized pet Raina with him too. Idiots.

It's more likely that Mr Fletcher will be sacked.

I think they're just going through a dip in form, and will bounce back - probably against England on the 11th. It'll be an interesting contest.

OH I'm rooting for England then! This team needs a shuffle, Dhoni needs to take a sabbatical to Mt Kilimanjaro and retur to play domestic cricket. These high flying folks are so classy they won't play domestic tournaments. WHy? Coz there's little money there (compared to IPL and ODIs), and their place is taken for granted on the team.

NOw that Tendulkar has retired, the teamhas become seriously unstable, though it may score the individual victory here and there. More youngsters need to come in.

But I agree about the dip in form, the team's not all bad, just needs better captaincy and people who value their position on the side.

About England, Cook's in superb form. If India don't take it up the ass voluntarily, it should be a good contest.

Bringing in some young blood will undoubtedly be a good idea. For years, England carried on with the established faces, and it didn't work. We've been trying out a lot of young guys, but as yet haven't decided who should be permanent. Bairstow, Butler, Root and a plethora of other batsmen have all been given a go, but nobody seems to have a set place. The return of Pietersen is a good thing, though. We have a wealth of quick bowlers, but are lacking quality one day spinners. Swann is an obvious choice. I just hope they keep the faith with Danny Briggs. Then again, he plays for my home county, so maybe I'm biased. I also think that Stuart Meaker will get better.

So, if Dhoni doesn't captain the side, who should? It's a tricky one.
