I'm guessing you made that distinction because you've read CS Lewis' writings about the existence of Jesus - hmmmm? I'll give you one point - the very last sentence seems to be a paraphrasing of the line of reasoning he was referring to, but that hardly constitutes some kind of "know-it-all" stance on the subject, wouldn't you agree?

Jesus was an amalgam of Old Testament stories. Elijah fed the crowd with fish. Elijah ascended to heaven.

If that statement was an opinion, you could challenge it with, "Jesus wasn't an amalgam of Old Testament stories." But you would be incorrect - ergo, my statement is not an opinion.

You could also state, "Even though there are similarities between books, Jesus was still a real person." THIS would be an opinion.

If you hadn't dropped out of college, you would have taken a comparative lit class at some point. Unfortunately, you are a failure at life.

I don't need to read somebody else's OPINION on something that opinion has nothing to do with; it would be a waste of time. He basically said that Jesus never existed, albeit not in those exact terms. He said it, not CS Lewis. Furthermore, he should've added "In my opinion" to his interpretation of CS Lewis' argument.

Somebody's OPINION has nothing to do with historical fact nor is it a valid source when talking about historical fact. Also, exactly how does reading make you intelligent? You said that TCL was using a fallacy by claiming that because something is old/has lasted a long time it's automatically of value, yet people constantly do the same thing with old works. It's a fucking book; reading it doesn't mean anything except you read a damn book. It's no different than watching a movie. Unless you're specifically learning something, then reading a book is simply reading a book.

 

If you've never even read Narnia (much less Lewis's non-fiction), then you're not qualified to participate in a conversation about the existence of Jesus. We're not going to pause the conversation for four years to get you caught up.
